- Bánh xèo Ba Híu - Auntie was really focused in on her work so I really appreciate her letting Bao and I get a little time in the kitchen and checking it out. This was a fabulous meal and worth the drive all the way out to D2.

Man, this is the original yet the best and healthiest Banh Xeo I haven't seen for a long time since I was a kid, hometown My Tho by the way. (cook well with little or no oil used). I think they used pork fat instead of oil.

Mình người Đà Nẵng nên mỗi khi ăn bánh xèo đều thích có một chén tương đậu. Bánh xèo và nước mắm rất ngon, nhưng bánh xèo chấm với tương đậu phộng cũng rất tuyệt vời và đáng để thử. Nếu có dịp mong Max và bạn sẽ thử Bánh xèo với nước chấm là tương đậu phộng. Thân ái!

You should also check out Phuc Map and Dustin Cheverier if you're trying to learn. Phuc Map does shorts on Vietnamese words. Dustin has amazing tonality even though his Vietnamese vocab may be a bit more limited.

WOW! DOES THAT LOOK DE- LICIOUS! I like how the greens are rubbed on the rice paper lightly to help prevent splitting. That's a great idea! I purchased some of the rice paper at an Asian store called YAOHAN in Illinois. It used to be called MITSUA or is now called MISTUA or YAOHAN. A Korean family or company purchased the store. It's huge and they carry a lot of imported foods. Not just from Asia, but other parts of the world as well. So, your friend is a graduate from cooking school and is on a journey with you visiting "down home" cooking? There's so much that is not offered or advertised in restaurants that visitors do not get when they don't get off the beaten path. Max, Mr. HANDSOME ❤, you are showing this to us along with your chef friend. There's nothing wrong with the fancy places, however, there's so many hidden gems tucked away that visitors can't find and know nothing about, but you are showing us. Just wonderful. I've had a ginger soda. Not a ginger beer or a ginger tea, but a soda. It was to help curb any tummy issues. It was quite delicious and refreshing. THANK YOU AND YOUR GUEST FOR SHOWING US ANOTHER WONDERFUL KITCHEN WHERE GOOD "COOKIN" IS MADE AND PROPER ETIQUETTE ON HOW TO PREVENT SPLITTING OF YOUR RICE PAPER WRAP. THAT WAS EXTREMELY HELPFUL! I really admire ur tenacity for learning about vietnamese culture and really embracing it. Now if you could tell ur friend phuc map to do the same cuz sometimes his vietnamese comes off very rude n disrespectful, but urs is very respectful which I really appreciate. Too bad you didn't have vietnamese friends to eat authentic viet food growing up in the states haha because I eat everything you eat there over here in cali and it's homemade too, like my mom makes the best bun dau mam tom. I'm lucky I get to eat a lot of authentic viet dishes here stateside, just goes to show you that you don't really have to travel far to get good authentic food from other countries n cultures.
