Yeah everyone's gear was dummy gear to portray the 70's vibe, the only real rig that was used was my sax rig cause no one cares haha but I only got to go on the EU/UK headliner (so far), I was teaching music in a school during their US headliner and couldn't come out :( but not really a permanent member b/c of some tour logistics having an extra member would be tough; but I am working on the next album with them as well, it might or might not be INTENSE
I, very sadly, just heard this song on XM Radio, way late to the party, but you were perfect here, your addition really made the transitions in the son palpable. Several metal bands have had sax cameos (Dream Theatre) in certain songs...Great job.
The sax player is not permanent. They added that element for this album and on a headlining tour they did in fall 2018, they brought a sax player to play live with them. it fucking ruled so much!
So glad you enjoyed this one. It's from one of my all time favorite albums. There is just so many good songs in it. I often put this on the background when I'm going to bed. Those sweet sax tones caries me away to sleep.
Rivers of Nihil are seriously wild. Super talented and very interesting, love the idea that they just decided to get these instruments together for nothing more than visuals. I gotta check out more of this myself.
I have a close friend who is a good sax player, mostly jazz. He isn't really into metal and definitely not screams or growls. I can't wait to see his expression when I show him this. Personally I really enjoyed it. 🎷🤘😉
There is saxophone all over this whole album, but no the sax player in the video is not a permanent member. They have a few different guys they have come do it live for them
Gotta say I really love that you go back and do your research, I've seen a few more of your vids and I've learned things about bands that I already knew a lot about, and that really makes your content stand out to me. Congrats on 20k by the way, really hope to see your channel keep growing. So thrilled. I love discovering new (metal)bands. And sax in metal: blew my mind. And still nobody in my non-youtube life understands why I’m ‘wasting my time’ on reaction channels.....
This album is amazing. Subtle Change is probably my favorite song but the album is meant to be listened to as a whole. So good. Also, the guy on tambourine is from Black Crown Initiate.
Great reaction dude. I think the Sax player is Zach Strouse is a friend of one of the guitarists who he met whilst producing or recording Zachs metal band (I read that in a metal magazine at some point I am sure) They are actually a pretty brutal band with lots of Prog and tech, check out Sand Baptism. For more with the Sax The Silent Life is a good record
Great pick! I adore this song! You have to listen to this whole album, you'll fall in love for sure! It ended up on so many "top of the year" lists in 2018! Oh and you MUST see them live when this pandemic crap is over, they are wild!
You should check out Thankyou Scientist. Pretty much anything. Their cover of party all the time is amazing. They mix elements of pop, jazz and metal all together. Violin and brass part of the full time group.
Hey Tank. I'm a new subscriber. You've ticked all my boxes with this channel so far. This song is awesome and I've seen these guys live, also awesome. You've reacted to quite a few of my other favourite bands too. It's great to hear your musical insight and knowledge. Cheers from Australia.
The dude on the tambourine is the clean vocalist/lead guitarist of Black Crown Initiate (just on the track because they're mates), definitely check them out, they're great.
Bari sax? That maybe explains your love of bass. Tenor sax player (former) here until 18. Only kept playing until 18 because our high school band played at the Fiesta Bowl.
You probably know this by now, but the Sax player was a friend of theirs and showed them a song where he played over their freshly recorded song and they brought him in for the album
Ya gotta check out there video for " the silent life" it's a "live" performance. But they got that sax guy in there on stage playing. My point is, they got sax in a least one other song. Keep it up.
It's so quirky at first, but MY GOD I love this god damn album so much. The guitars are so ambient. They're kinda ominous sounding, but inviting too. Then the cool concept and the tie ins to mental health especially for me at the time I discovered this album. I can't remember an album that I've ever been so immersed in. I highly recommend sitting down and listening to this one all the way through, unless you want to react to more songs from it. There may or may not be more sax. ALSO please get Chase to do this band. I've been requesting it for a bit lol.
Been loving your reactions! Great insight and editing, as well. Top quality content. I think you'd really dig a band called Inferi if you don't know of them already. A personal favorite track of mine features the vocalist of the Black Dahlia called Behold The Bearer of Light. The lyric video for it is super tight, too. Cheers!
Hey! Your videos came up in my recommendations with your take on Blind Guardian and I liked it very much! I kept going with Sabaton and Alien Weaponry (btw, than you so much for your respectful approach on other people's mythology and cultural expressions) and I appreciate very much the extra mile you give with the facts and such. How about you take a shot with Myrath, a heavy/power/folky band from Tunisia? (a liiitle bit on the line of Orphaned Land). Their album Tales of the Sands is just so delightful!
The hell with Cattle Decapitation? Lol. Missed the premiere. These guys are like the American version of Archspire / Beyond Creation. Their song Old Nothing will assault your eardrums.
@@TankTheTech i know for your channel it's hard to do since you wanna save some songs for reactions. The first single i heard was The Silent Life and it has a live official video. The drumming is so pummeling yet the song is groovy. Ah love it! 🔥

This album was pretty much unanimously praised by everyone and was on every best albums of 2018 list
And for good reason, too. It's an incredible LP. Really just such a unique sounding record as a whole, and dope songwriting.
100%
That was a great year for metal too, inferi, revocation, slugdge so many good albums
Even on lists by music writers who didn't even cover metal music. That's how I found out about them.
Great songwriting but also incredible solos by Brody Uttley. @@RustyGonzo
The sax isn't on every album, but it's on this whole album. This was album of the year and one of the best metal albums ever.
Their song Subtle Change is definitely a must listen. Really shows off their range plus another great sax feature 👍
One of the best prog songs ever made IMO
This whole album is piece of art and these guys have a great tongue-in-cheek attitude in this video.

The vocalist doing the melodic part for the front end of the song is from the band black crown initiate. Well worth diving into if you liked this.
Fucking love this band and the album this songs on is perfection. Also the best band I’ve seen live .
I have been locked into this band for the last 10 hours...friggin love it..LOVE IT!
The cleans are sung by the lead guitarist of black crown Initiate. Gotta check em out
Mentioned them to him last week. Hoping he dives in a some point :)

Saxophone and metal. Has to be a first to me !!
Other great ones from RoN off that album are "the silent life" and "home". My personal favorite is one off an older album called "rain eater".
Bro, I still listen to rain eater like every fucking day. One of the best tech death songs of all time.
I'm right with you, but throw Sand Baptism into the mix
From this album 'A Home' and 'Old Nothing' are my faves.
And 'Sand Baptism', 'Ancestral, I' and especially 'Dehydrate' are just amazing!
I really love “Sand Baptism” from “Monarchy”. That song hits
