  • Every year on my birthday I replace some of my old shoes. Since I have been jumping rope in my running shoes, this year I decided to replace my running shoes with a shoe more appropriate for jumping rope.
    In this video, I'm gonna show you three pairs of shoes that are absolutely wonderful to jump rope in.

    I just ordered a pair of these Nikes. I used to jump rope at sporting good conventions, but never considered the shoes I wore. Now my knees have an inflammation condition, but I wanna take it up again. This time I'm doing it the right way. So thank you for posting this video! Subscribed.

    Thanks for the review and comparison. It's so difficult to trust people who are sponsored and want to "just" sell something. I found a few pair and they're all more than half the original MSRP-- for real thanks again and God bless

      Thank you friend. I can assure you I’m not getting paid to sell anything lol. I actually don’t do shoe reviews because I’ve found rating shoes is so subjective. I have worn shoes that many people hated but I loved them and I have worn shoes that many people loved and I hated them. Normally people just have to try them out for themselves. I hope this video did help a little though.

    Thank you, this video was exactly was I was looking for. Most reviewers spend too little time on the cushioning effect of jump rope shoes. I'm probably pulling the trigger on those Lebron XVII

    • @kgsfitness7806
      @kgsfitness7806  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just know that the Lebrons are higher than a regular shoe and they are heavier and hotter. If you’re used to wearing mid top/high top shoes you will love them. Let me know how it goes 👍

    • @Decide85
      @Decide85 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@kgsfitness7806 Thank you for your reply! And yes, I'm used to high shoes. Pretty heavy ones too. To be precise, I usually wear the Puma Sky Dreamer. The Sky Dreamer severely lacks cushioning, even though it's a great shoe otherwise. I'll get back at you when I had a chance to give the Lebrons a spin. Greetings from Germany

    • @Decide85
      @Decide85 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kgsfitness7806 Alright, I ordered both the Lebron and the BBs. The original idea was to choose between the two but the vendor seems to have supply issues with the Lebrons. So, I'm now in possession of the BBs. I've worn them all day to break them in and jumped for a bit. I've noticed some things I'm not overly thrilled with:
      1. The shoe is surprisingly stiff. The little grove in the front part of the shoe does not provide much flexibility. Since the front part is at an angle it feels like it is the shoe that decides at what angle my foot contacts the ground. In addition, sometimes I seem to land right on the edge of the grove causing me to sorta fall into the sloped part. This brings about a moderate feeling of instability. Not a terrible feeling but not a great one either. On the plus side, the stiffness in combination with the sloped front allows for some great toe-centered footwork.
      2. While I enjoy the air cushioning in the heels, the front cushioning seems to require a lot of energy to compress significantly. This might change when the shoe has seen more action. Will see...
      However, it is possible that this fact is not caused by the shoe itself but by the matt I'm using. I'm using a German product called "Pallid Falcon - Advanced Workout System Pro+". This matt was specifically designed for jumping rope and offers impact absorbing technology. The impact absorption might be colliding with the cushioning effect of the BBs.
      I'll have my next full jump rope session the day after tomorrow and look forward to exploring this shoe further (-:
      In conclusion, if I had to design a jump rope shoe from the top of my head, I'd say it should have easily compressible air cushioning in the front part as well as in the heel part but the shoe would have to be much more flexible. Maybe a combination of the Nike Free technology and Nike Zoom Air technology. Let's hope the shoemakers realize the business potential for jump rope shoes in the future.

      You mean where I went from my hiking boot to my trail runner etc.? It’s easy you just make your last remark about one pair and keep the camera rolling. Then I just reach down, put the one shoe down and get the other shoe and then when I’m in frame the way I want I start making my remarks about the next shoe. Then all I have to do is cut out the 20 seconds that it took me to put the one the one and pick up the other. Nobody needs to see that lol. It’s boring, takes up time, and doesn’t add any value to the story. Hope that helps 🙌🏼 I’m thankful you subscribed and I hope you stick around. With full time school and the unpredictable UK weather it is hard for me to shoot regularly but I do my best lol

      hello Friend! so glad some of these episodes are helping in some way :) As far as mats go; I am like you in that I have a stone platform out in my backyard that i exercise on and i didn't want to destroy my rope prematurely...so i got a mat as well. i know that the company Crossrope makes a really good mat. They actually make two: a rectangular one and a circular one. I have only tried the rectangular one and it was great...so I am sure the circular one is nice too. But because that mat costs about $50 and because I didn't need a mat to take to different locations, I just spent the same $50-$60 on a really nice horse stall mat. Most mats you buy that are easy to carry around are only about 4-6mm thick...but the horse stall mat comes in a 12mm or 24mm (24mm equals 1 inch) mat for between $60-$80. After jumping on them for a year now believe me they are MILES better than a regular mat for jumping rope. plus you can do other exercises on them as well. If you do need a mat to throw in your car, then i would suggest the mat from Crossrope.
      I hope this helps! I'll shoot a video next week on the mat I am using lol

Please let me know if you like them. I will say that…compared to my Nike Pegasus 37s which are running shoes…these definitely feel like bball shoes so if you don’t like bball shoes give the Nike Pegasus 37s or 38s a look. They have the same Zoom Air Pods under the forefoot so very springy to jump rope in plus they are very light. But…the Pegasus 37s are made for straight running so don’t provide your ankles any support if you try to move side to side whereas the NXTs are made for bball so great support if you wanna zig and zag lol

      Hello friend 🤗. Yes I do. The Nike Pegasus 37s are running shoes but they have the same zoom air pods under the forefoot as the NXTs and are super light. I wouldn’t do any kind of weight lifting in them or any exercises that require fast lateral (side to side) movements but the zoom Air pods under the forefoot make them WONDERFUL for straight-line movement exercises such as running and especially jumping rope!
      Another shoe that I really love to jump rope in is the Mizuno Wave Monentum 2 volleyball shoes. They are made for all-day jumping and the material is tough and protects your feet from rope smacks when learning double unders.

      Hello friend!! Sorry to hear your shins are hurting. Few suggestions:
      1. if you are jumping on a hard surface like stone or concrete, then try to find anything you can softer.
      2. Make sure you stay up on your toes and allow a little bend in your knees when jumping. Don’t jump with stiff legs.
      3. Make sure you do not jump too high. This causes more impact. Remember…you only need to jump 1.5 inches.
      4. Don’t over jump. Have shorter sessions until your legs are stronger.
      5. Make sure to wear good shoes. I wear Nike BB NXTs or my Nike Pegasus 37s.

    How can I avoid my calves hurting?

    • @kgsfitness7806
      @kgsfitness7806  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello friend! Some things I found help me…
      1. Stretch your calves a lot before jumping session.
      2. Do a good warm up before getting into longer jump sessions. I typically will do little sets of 10-20 jumps for about 10 minutes before I even begin my actual session so my calves are warm.
      3. Hydrate
      4. Hot water bottle after for 10-15 minutes helps relax the muscles in your calves.
      5. Rest. Don’t do jump sessions everyday if the week when you first start.
      6. Start doing resistance training and focus on calf raises to build up strength in your calves.
      7. Don’t jump on hard surfaces.
      Those things are things that help me and I very rarely have calf pain. Good luck friend…keep in touch!

    Hi there, is this available for women as I can’t see any options😅 preferable here in U.K.? Just started jumping as well and I found that even my merrells aren’t so comfy. Please advice

      Hello friend 🤗. When you ask “is this available?”…do you mean the shoe as a whole? I’ve never shopped for women’s shoes so I’m not sure. I will have to look. Follow me on Instagram or Facebook at keep getting stronger or Brummie Jumpers so we can chat directly 👍

    Do you still use them? I ordered them and the Lebron 16 and they felt to heavy so I returned them and right now I am using the pegasus 38 now which is really comfortable.

      Hello friend!! I literally just finished an15 minute jump rope session and a 30 minute shuttle run and was wearing them the entire time. I absolutely love them! I did also get talked into trying the Pegasus 37s and they are gold as well. Think because both Nike shoes have the air zoom pocket under the forefoot….makes it like a spring to jump rope in. Let me know if you like the Peg 38s!! Btw…I sent back the Lebron 17s I tried. Just too heavy especially during the summer.

      @@kgsfitness7806 Sounds good. :) I really want to try the Zoomx Foam. Maybe its also really great for rope jumping. I ordered the Vomero 15 with Zoom Air and Zoomx and the Nike ZoomX Invincible Run shoes with complete Zoomx. Will keep you updated on that. I really like the update of Pegasus 38. The 37 was little to narrow for me and the 38 is so much more comfortable. No heel slipping and padded tongue.
      Yeah I feel that. For me even the bb nxt was little too heavy.

      @@lwanso dude you are shoe crazy lol 😆. You thought the NXTs were too heavy? Interesting. I DEFO agree about the Peg 37s being too narrow but when I ordered them online I was able to get the “wide” size so they are great!! So light and springy. I jump rope in them all the time. Let me know how the other shoes go 👍

      @@kgsfitness7806 actually not hahaha, i knew nothing about shoes 3 weeks ago. but when I'm interested in something i spend so much energy into researching. will let you know by end of the week :D
      yeah but i ordered bb nxt 1 size to small and did not try them in my correct size. I felt I like running shoes more over basketball shoes when it comes to rope jumping. and paying upfront with paypal 14 days makes me want to try a lot because its basically free until I return them haha. so what do you think when it comes to bb nxt vs pegasus 37?

    • @kgsfitness7806
      @kgsfitness7806  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@lwanso that’s funny about the PayPal lol. I like the Peg 37s if I’m ONLY jumping rope…especially in the summer time. They are so light and cool on my feet. But if I am circuit training and jumping rope is only one station in the circuit than I prefer the NXTs just because they provide me more ankle support for making quick lateral movements. Guess because they are really basketball shoes and they are made for lateral movements whereas the NXTs are running shoes and more for running or moving in straight lines.

    I am wondering if you can please tell me why jumping rope is the best cardio ever. Thank you.

    • @kgsfitness7806
      @kgsfitness7806  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hello friend…and yes I can. I’ll just give you 3 reasons today lol…
      1. there are multiple components that make up “fitness”….muscular strength, cardiovascular endurance, balance, coordination, speed, power, etc. There is no other form of cardio exercise that helps to develop all of these at the same time other than jumping rope. Think about this…People can run or cycle or row or swim for hours without stopping…whereas most people cannot jump rope non-stop for more than about 5-10 minutes before burn out. Why? Because jumping rope is taxing your entire system to a greater degree than any other form of cardio.
      2. It has been found that, all things being equal, you will burn more calories jumping rope than other forms of cardio. I say “equal” because if you run or swim or cycle at max effort like sprinting but just kind of casually jump rope you will obviously burn more calories sprinting for 30 minutes than casually jumping rope. But if effort is equal than jumping rope wins.
      3. Can jump rope inside or out. Yes you can run inside as well but only if you spend £500 or more for a good treadmill. A decent jump rope costs £15. Plus if I jump rope I don’t find myself a mile or more away from my home if I need to hydrate or use the bathroom lol.
      Hope this helps 👍

    How are the BB NXT holding up?
    I started jumping rope 1 month ago and i really want to get a good pair of shoes that will make the whole experience more enjoyable.
    Are they worth it?

    • @kgsfitness7806

      Hello friend! I personally love them. I use them solely for jumping rope...I don’t run in them or play bball in them...plus I pretty much jump rope on rubber mats...so they are still like brand new. I’m finding the more I jump in them the more they seem to be breaking in. If you get them I would love to know what you think.

      @@kgsfitness7806 I got a pair, and they are amazing for jumping rope, it's strange at first because they have a bunch of cushion and i feel way up the ground and i kept getting tangled with the rope because i was used to my old sneakers, but after a few days that's gone, they are really amazing, 10x better then anything i jumped rope in, my feet feel so good in them even after 45 - 60 min of jumping.
      P.S. I just got another pair since they are half price now, and going out of stock just to have a fresh pair in the closet for when the current one gives out, so i have about 10 years of jump rope sneakers guaranteed.

      @@alexstan9555 that’s awesome! Believe it or not, I did find another pair of running shoes that are as comfy as the NXTs…they are the Nike Pegasus 37s. They are light like a running shoe but because they are Nike…they also have the zoom AirPods under the forefoot so it makes jumping rope a dream. Check them out if you get a chance. Nice to hear from you. Ps…haven’t made a video all year because of COVID and bad UK weather. I am hoping to start filming again in July so please stick around 😇
