I said it before of how much Bakugo have grown, and how much he cares about everyone specially Deku. But here when he understands Deku that he let Iida be the one that reach out his hand because he new a close friend was needed to do the work (just like Deku knew that kirishima was important to rescue Bakugo), shows a lot . The icing on the cake was his apology to Deku ❤.
In the manga and the subtitled anime, Iida has a line when grabbing Deku that is kept out of the sub, “I am Ingenium! I will run as fast and as far as I can to take a lost boy by the hand!” That line really sticks with me.
@@personperson51 where when and how was Bakugo forgiven? It’s not such a fairy tale nicety here. I know that people WANT to say Izuku already forgave him, but if that was TRULY such a foregone conclusion, Izuku’s forgiveness wouldn’t be absent from this scene. Especially since he’s so fast to forgive everyone else and will not hesitate to verbalize it. If it was already achieved this apology wouldn’t have been needed at this point in the story. Even if he never had a chance to prior. Stories wouldn’t do that. And if this apology WAS accepted, Deku would have likely been convinced to go back. But he wasn’t. I’m not saying Bakugo didn’t do the right thing, and I’m not saying Bakugo isn’t correct to do things the way he does here. But I also think Bakugo is fully aware he wasn’t going to be. Izuku is ENDLESSLY accommodating and we know he’s not going anywhere, but that doesn’t mean he’s forgiven. And he might never forgive him. 8 months of training doesn’t overcome 10 years of bullying when the active bullying stopped literally 8 months ago, and Izuku has said he hates being yelled at, hates being insulted, but that’s what he CONSTANTLY gets from Bakugo who never mellows out and gives him real conversations. The dialogue from BOTH of their arcs doesn’t favor this apology being forgiven or prior to that. And that’s what is truly sad about this. But the fact they are still teammates and Izuku isn’t going anywhere and now Bakugo is truly putting the effort into making things better, it’s a road. Reality can be harsh and complicated and these two have a very harsh and realistic relationship. I just wish people saw more from Izuku’s perspective.
@@Kaempfdoghe doesn’t need to say he forgive him to actually forgive him. The act of wanting to be part of Bakugos life is often more than enough. But the apology is a good and important closure.
@ I can assure you that is not so cut and dry. A story with a bully and victim becoming friends would not make forgiveness a skippable after thought. There’s a reason why Deku’s accommodations for Bakugo are so tricky. Everything about how Bakugo interacts with Deku is brought up BY DEKU as how he hates getting treated like that, but he puts up with it to see what Bakugo becomes. Which is genuinely one of the most negative stances Deku takes in the whole show. He doesn’t forgive the AFO’s but he tries to understand them and tries to change their mind through his empathy JUST LIKE BAKUGO. He doesn’t view his interactions with Bakugo as normal, and for crying out loud Bakugo still finds little moments to bully him across season 5-6. Bakugo’s relationship is totally unique with Deku NOT because it’s a special relationship but because it’s not even recognizable to the ones they have with their actual friends with in class that they have no problem communicating with and both respect that OTHER friendships in the class have much more value to the other. Kirishima and Bakugo is much higher valued to Bakugo than he is with Deku and it’s NOT close. Same goes for Iida and Deku. The apology WAS required. Bakugo isn’t a struggling Tsundere with Deku, we see that with other people. NOT Deku. It’s LOWER value than that posturing. It’s actually REALLY messed up. But people like Bakugo so much they’ll bend over backwards to say he’s better than that. I watch people put words in Deku’s mouth but an auto forgiver for EVERYONE but mass murderers (and not even because of Lady Nagant) NOT forgiving here should be believed. There is ZERO reason to not believe it. If Deku forgave him, he’d say it. He’s 100% the type that would. Iida punches him in the face and DEKU apologizes almost faster than Iida does. But people forget that.
@@Kaempfdog you need to rewátch deku vs kacchan part 2 again bro. Izuku never had any ill feelings towards him. I am not saying it is good writing but that is the writing Horikoshi choose about this topic
1:55 It’s not just that black whip was hanging out, he actually needed it because he couldn’t even stand anymore, it was the only thing keeping him up.
When Deku says that Eri doesn’t need him, that who comforts her doesn’t need to be him my heart breaks every time. Deku values himself so little that he doesn’t believe that Eri actually likes him or wants to spend time with him, one of her heroes, but that anyone can comfort her better. His devaluation of himself and his personhood is an arc that’s been going on in the background for the entire show but seeing it finally be paid off here is genuinely my favorite part of the entire story.
@@MinetaMinoruGrapeJuice honestly the only thing that would save his character at this point would be if he was only so pervy and creepy as overcompensation to hide being gay.
Notice how the method they used to catch up to Deku was a variation of Deku’s plan to save Bakugo in Kamino. All I’ll say is by the end of the final season remember this episode, it’s effectively a way of showing how Deku inspires others in the same way All Might, who was the greatest hero, inspired Deku.
@@bareenali1350 yeah, after the AFO vs All Might fight in S3 and they fix the place up they make a big All Might statue there, the statue you see behind the students this episode, and the same statue people mad at heroes would put the I am nowhere sign on it
*I remember promising myself that I wouldn’t cry at the time, needless to say, I failed. I think it was around when Iida caught up, but I was definitely crying a little before that, so I don’t know. Regardless, this was really emotional, and I always get misty eyed when rewatching it.* *Also, Kacchan apologizing was definitely not something I expected. Like, I always just assumed that he cared, but was just too proud to really say it, but it really seemed like he was holding that in for a while.*
The relationship between Bkg and Deku legitimately has my favorite development of any relationship. The way they start from such an awful place and end up being the people closest to each other so naturally is amazing❤
I love how they paralleled the Bakugo Rescue to catch Midoriya and that it was Iida who caught Deku it had to be Iida he was the only one who could get Midoriya to stop and listen to them and I don't care what anyone says Iida is Midoriya's best friend he'll always race to stand at his side.
Bakugo was Deku's childhood friend so he'll always be an important person but realistically Iida really should be his best friend. Outside of Uraraka who is the love interest, no other classmate has been as close and supportive since like Day 1.
Mind you: Deku was wounded, sleep deprived, hungry, and just barely able to stay on his feet and was STILL surpassing and clearing everything Class 1A was throwing at him.
@@adambump5297no one was fighting seriously. If they meant him any harm, danger sense would have popped off and things like "heaven piercing ice wall" would have been easily avoided. Deku is far and away above the rest of class1a. That being said, AFO and shigiraki are ahead of other villains so the class can take them while deku fights the real final boss. Thats the whole point of this ep
@@PxndaCakesthat’s irrelevant bc even if everyone in class 1-A came at him with all they had deku would still easily clear them lmao. And god forbid if deku was to actually fight, like I don’t know why yall keep bringing up the fact class A is not trying when it won’t make a difference if they did. The point is still the same, deku was able to do all this while sleep deprived etc.
i used to get bullied and thrown in lockers as a kid just for being me..such a huge nerd for anything that interests me, so when Kenny said that..I know what he meant on a deeper level personally, but you’re both so cool!! I always get emotional for that same bakugo reason
I love how Bakugou concluded his apology by calling Deku ‘Izuku’ to really drive home that he’s not talking to the hero Deku or the kid he used to rival himself with, but just with Izuku. Lots of people hate and don't understand or fail to realize how important Bakugo's apology was for his character development. That was heart-warming
The apology was the last important thing that needed to happen for Bakugo's redemption, this story started with him telling Izuku to kill himself so him not getting a proper apology would've hurt things. And I love that it's done when their on the verge of losing him at his lowest point it gave the moment the impact it needed.
I love how well this whole arc displays Deku's greatest character flaw. He's always had weaknesses to overcome, yeah, but his greatest vulnerability isn't a physical one. His most valuable trait as a person is his spirit of self-sacrifice, but on the other hand, without the proper emotional support, he becomes more self-destructive.
Bakugo apologizing has been one of if not my favorite moment in the show purely because I was not expecting it at all. The growth, I expected, but the fact he states that he’s sorry for “everything” floored me the first time I watched it. Also I just love bowing as a sign of respect in Japanese culture, it’s so sincere
The fact that Deku managed to almost escape when he was extremely tired, held himself back by a lot and tried not to hurt any of his classmates just shows how much he grew in just a few months of training.
Dabi, not long ago: "Let's fall together" Shoto, now: "Let's stand together" Unrelated contexts largely but interesting parallel in their respective desires for the people close to them
All the Class A flashbacks of how Deku helped them all was SUCH a great touch. 🥲🥲 Some of my favorites was Sato telling Deku he couldn't use is food coloring to make Eri candied apples (DON'T say Eri doesn't need you, Deku 😭) and Kirishima realizing that the story he heard about a middle-schooler who saved his friend WAS Deku.
Wow, this class has come a massively long way. It’s honestly kinda funny that they needed to ask permission from the pros to do this since they handled Midoriya way better than any of the pros he was partnered with. Like, this wasn’t a fight, this was a rescue.
My favorite part of Bakugos apology is he wasn’t necessarily doing it to make Izuku feel better or convince him. He even says “saying this doesn’t change a thing, but it’s how I feel” he apologized solely because HE felt like he needed to and owed it to himself which shows even more growth.
Like Endeavor, Bakugo doesn't want redemption. He wants atonement. To be redeemed is to be absolved of one's sins while atonement is to make up for those sins.
You noticed you sounded it like he was making everything about himself, right? It's a selfish act if he did so. He did it for Deku, not only for himself. That's why after that, he says he'll be there when Deku needs him.
@@Biielfire Atonement is hardly a selfish thing. In fact, I consider it the less selfish between it and redemption since going for atonement means that you don't expect to be forgiven yet still want to make up for your sins.
@@Biielfire I think @Aura-m2m was more talking about how people need to _want_ redemption or atonement before it can happen. Bakugo owed it to himself to be honest with himself, that was the first step towards atonement.
I really love this for this episode knowing how much his classmates were saying how he really helped him and how he was to him. But you know to me personally even though he had to keep the secret from one for all from them the moment he started going to UA It was only because he didn’t want to be that much special to them know he was chosen by all might the symbol of peace and when he left UA it was the right time to tell them his secret of his quirk because all those months he spend time with them and they became such good friends to him back in those months was really worth the wait of the big reveal
Deku: I've had enough of this! What the heck are you...?! Bakugo: I'm your friend! We are all! Ochako: That's what we telling you I'm not going to let the likes of All For One get ahold of you!! Iida: And if you won't listen to reason then... Class 1-A: we are here..and we will stop you!
While we may not have that much screen time and Deku hasn't interacted so much with every classmate for us. In story they have been living in the same house for 6 months. So no wonder the entire class cares about him. Also even with Zero weight it took that much propulsion to reach Deku who wasn't even accelerating anymore. Goddamn he is fast.
At the part where Todoroki said this is exactly the situation all for one was hoping for; because it’s true he’s really too smart for him I mean, he even knew Deku would leave to go after him and Shigaraki but decides to keep hiding until Deku worn out. So yeah that’s a villainous mastermind for ya Who’s been trying endlessly to get the one quirk he keeps missing so many times and is living long enough to get it and now he just needs a perfect body of hatred to do it and we all know who that is
This is my favorite episode in all of MHA. This brings every single thing this class has faced full circle. The kids have finally gained permission to being field active after a month of training and recovering from the war, and they have set up everything they need for what they are really out here to do. Not just save civilians, not just rescue people, priority one is get everything prepared to have this intervention for Deku’s sake to convince him to bring him back home to UA. And it is one of the hardest tasks they’ve ever been assigned. (Split into 2 parts for the fight, and of course I had to make the apology and aftermath its own part.) And here’s the reality that makes this both so awesome, but also SO SAD AND SCARY. What if every single person here today, is correct. (Well save for one but I’ll save that hair yanking scene when we get there, and no it’s none of the kids) But the reason the kids can be correct with how they try to intervene and Deku being correct in why he says he can’t stay. It’s because the one that is proving their point more properly IS NOT THE KIDS. The kids were coached how Deku would act and they all came up with various plans to keep him in place while talking him down and giving him some VERY overdue appreciation. They have new defenses for UA and want to protect him. And they have been coming to terms with the fact he has OFA and want to help him think about the mission. They ALL MEAN WELL. Deku just is NOT convinced because there’s a problem with ALL OF IT. As much as they want this to get across, Deku is in no shape to be reached by any of their points. It’s just another brick being added to the pile no matter how much appreciation they have. It won’t help him find himself. (No Mineta is not coming out of the closet. Yes that somehow was a giant note from the fandom. But we know Mineta has actually carried among the higher amounts of respect for Deku across this show) As much as they need to show that appreciation, everything about him has been lost to what he carries and any identifier to what he was isn’t going to be enough to pull him out. The fact is EVERY blessing of a contribution in his life had to be PROVEN. No one accepted him until he proved himself. The amount of people that didn’t BELIEVE in his selflessness is sadly quite astonishing unless it was personal. And he never would have gotten the opportunity to personally prove himself WITHOUT OFA. Save for one exception. And that makes it SUPREMELY difficult to get appreciation out of himself on his own. Deku knows UA is a safety shelter as he’s been sending civilians to the shelters when he deals with villains. But we have SEEN what the villains can do. Machia might be out of commission, but he is the SERVANT and there’s a canyon that stretches through over a dozen cities as he sprinted to AFS. We’ve seen Nomu cleave through COUNTLESS military structures and defenses. And that’s just not even getting into AFO and AFS on their own which the kids INCLUDING DEKU have not so much as gotten a WHIFF of their true strength levels and the strongest people in the country were mere FODDER. Deku was blasting his arms off over and over and he didn’t do a FRACTION of the damage Endeavor pulled off and it’s RAINING so that definitely puts a dapper on his capabilities. (Vestige damage is still absolute though) He’s ruling it out because HE DOESN’T THINK THERE’S A DEFENSE IN THE WORLD that could defend against these abominations. And if he’s around a lot of people, that’s not backup, that’s collateral. That’s hostages. That’s people that AFO can RIP THE SOUL OUT OF. “If I go back to UA it’s like killing you myself. AFO would DESTROY YOU.” And the REALLY big issue is that these kids have JUST gotten involved with OFA. So while they want to have him opened up to fresh new perspective, the truth is that he has obsessively thinking through every avenue he can. These kids trying to remind him of the ideals of OFA and what it really means and want to interpret themselves and their efforts for him in the way he thinks about OFA, but he KNOWS. And some of their reminders are a BIT outdated. (Shoji you ROCK but no I don’t think broken season 3 Deku, Bakugo, Todoroki, Shoji, and Tokoyami have ANY chance on All-Might.) Here’s the truth. Each passing day AFS gets closer to full stabilization, and it’s the only real opening they have because if he IS stabilized, he can use the AFO stockpile more freely than AFO himself ever could, he’ll have the ability to take OFA which is sadly EVEN MORE POWERFUL in the hands of AFO with the countless quirks he can boost and multiply through stockpile. And even though Deku is NOT powerful enough, he has openings to exploit as well as the other top heroes even though THEY are weakened. Taking away that time is not worth it. Walking away from people in need when all he has wanted is to save lives is not worth it. There is nothing THEY can find in just a month of looking at his mission and burdens that can convince him because this wasn’t a decision made by the feint of heart. Save for one exception. Overcoming the undying will of an OFA wielder is next to impossible. Even if he’s too exhausted to fully implement it. And this catastrophic headspace makes him completely invisible to himself. (God that moment when he says anyone can make Eri candy apples so she doesn’t need me BROKE MY HEART) And if you need more proof that he’s next to impossible to reach to these kids, this is a 19v1 and he’s WINNING. He’s walking through steel restraints AND sleeping gas stored in a mask of the same material like it’s PAPER, full dark shadow engulfing, Kaminari tasers, outrunning Jiro’s sound blasts like NOTHING (the sheer amount he does in the time it takes Jiro’s sound blast to reach him is patently ABSURD. Jiro’s point might flat out have been entirely missed by Deku because you need the sound to actually get to his eardrums) also I’m PRETTY SURE he broke Shoji’s arms and Shoji is just fine with that. Momo also makes a point to bring up OFA’s power being absurd, because this isn’t a we’re trying not to hurt you, they pretty much know they CAN’T. He just WALKS OFF flying through a SKYSCRAPER SIZED PILLAR OF ICE that is adding thicker layers to immobilize him. The ONLY people I’m pretty confident that can actually do proper damage is Iida and Uraraka like this and they would NEVER. (Iida is still faster than Deku’s faux 100 for the middle 10 seconds of recipro turbo, but timing that is impossible when he completely outclasses you pretty much the REST of the 10 minutes, and I don’t think Uraraka crushing him with more intense gravity is going to help anyone in this fight either) Bakugo is weakened by the rain, Todoroki has proven he can’t generate enough, and the others just don’t have what they need to get past his armor. Heck Deku after a month? He’s likely not at 45% max control anymore he just chooses 45%. I’m betting he’s anywhere in between 60-75% max control now. It took about a WEEK to go from 8% to 20%, and I think it’s safe to assume he had a higher max during the Endeavor Agency arc but hadn’t noticed it yet for the halfway between 20% max and 45% max. The show will no longer tell us when his control/power upgrades going forward, but I noticed he doesn’t need to charge Fa Jin as long as he did against Lady Nagant, so he needs less kinetic energy to make Faux 100 now which is a pretty big clue his stockpile energy is just flat out more than it was. And the higher the level he fights at, the more he stockpiles and heck, not even THAT matters because the more he stockpiles, it just charges faster altogether because 45% now means more energy comes back than it did a month ago. (Stockpile just recharges any used energy. It is ONLY the stamina of the wielder that gets worn out. The 1-100% doesn’t go down even when he’s tired like the Lady Nagant fight showed us. He just couldn’t keep using stockpile because he was too tired. And even though the distance from 45% to 100% doesn’t change, if he’s charging faster with Fa Jin, that means Fa Jin is boosted more than it was as well) And after all this combining and effort they put together the ENTIRE CLASS for one big effort to keep up with Deku’s Faux 100. They FINALLY catch him. And we can FINALLY get into the efforts that reach him. There’s the SLIGHTEST of hints the SLIGHTEST of hesitations through this fight. And most importantly, those that can actually get him to cry and feeling his own emotion again are the ones that actually have the trust and ability to see through EVERYTHING. And I said of the ENTIRE CAST there’s but TWO characters that can reach him and only ONE has the full capability. One is Iida. He came rocketing ALL THIS WAY to challenge his best friend. He knows that it’s not what Deku wants but “Meddling where you don’t necessarily have to is the ESSENCE of being a hero.” He’s not going to use his feelings and what he’s seen in the past now makes WAY MORE SENSE. He lets go of his brother’s code and takes Ingenium FULLY ON HIMSELF. He’s here because he WANTS TO BE. And he will help anyone who is lost. Does it win over Deku? Sadly, not even. It DOES get him to cry so that’s progress! And I just have to split here for the sheer amount to say about the NEXT effort.
Seriously, that whole Mineta bit was WEIRD (but also sort of hilarious) . And what do you mean it was "somehow" a note from the fandom? Your power isn't what made me fall for you." How ELSE are people supposed to take that? 🤨 Edit: I used to think this was just a mistranslation of the dub, and I believed that for a while. Then I got that far in the manga, and nope. That's exactly how he puts it there, so what gives, Horikoshi?
@ Brainwashing got to him I guess. I’m not saying it’s not bad word choice. But Mineta might never have anymore incidents but you do have to read between the lines on what he’s saying a lot of the time.
@@SquallSZ I’m fine. I like to write and I’ve loved theorizing about this show for years. And these sets of episodes are particularly personal for me is all so I wanted to go all out. No cause for alarm
omg the bakugo apology is here!!! i love bakugou's development throughout the series. i think he has such incredible growth!! my bkdk heart was so full this episode omg. also, i actually really love that deku holds no "grudge" over the past bullying, it feels true to his character that he only sees the good in others, like even when bakugou was terrible, he still ultimately admired his heroism and the fact he always strove for victory. He sees the good in others depsite their flaws. My headcanon tho is that izuku has complicated feelings for bakugou, like even if he might've been internally hurt and angry at his actions, his love and admiration of bakugou (or what i call his young kid-crush on him) overpowered the negative feelings he felt. i think he had rose-coloured glasses for the moments where they fanboyed over all might together, and just were playing around as kids together. But that's simply my interpretation of their relationship.
One of the most underrated moments in MHA. At 21:22 when Bakugo says “We’ll save you” the music changes to a subtle reprise of the song that played when Deku saved Eri. Masterfully done
This is my favorite episode.of.the whole show, and I'm up to date with the anime, but this episode combined with the next? A masterpiece that has been building up since S1, the whole part about them getting Deku back got me crying so hard even as I rewatched it
Love that bakugo scene but I have a problem with how his character is portrayed by author. Some of his actions if viewed seriously are worse than endevor's yet still he somehow always gets away with it
@@LettsReact Debatable. That excuse is applicable to anything we knew before the beginning of the series, but he's not _just_ a child by the time of S1E1. Teens do dumb stuff, but they're already starting to be accountable for their actions. It's why we even have juvies. And basically nobody really calls him out for it takes away from his growth for me. He's got a good character arc, but the author's bias (Bakugo being his favorite) dampened it too much.
that moment when Bakugo leaves the task to someone else and is there to clean up where it matters.. shows soo much growth and understanding from him.. it's insane
Fun fact: when deku was In other people arms he didn’t feel comfortable with them but with bakugo he fall right to sleep and he looked comfortable that’s how you know they have a great friendship now❤❤
Getting Montana to tear up seems like a monumental task, she's only ever cried in this show during the deku vs muscular fight in S3, that's the only time so I'd say it's a lot
This is easily the best ep of the entire show in my opinion!!!!! (Technically not my favorite episode because of my favorite character in all of fiction but I consider this objectively better than my favorite)
Ida has some of my favorite parts in this, especially cause he's going so fast his costume literally breaks apart, and then i break apart from all the emotions.
I'm so glad to see I'm not at all alone when i say this is probably the best, if not, one of the best episodes of mha and the ABSOLUTE favorite of mine i could watch it like 20 times and still have things to get hyped and emotional for there are so many things to talk about on this episode, many of which are covered in this reaction so all I'm gonna say is this is probably THE BEST way to have a fight to showcase how FAR every character has come, both power and writing wise and having watched both season 7 and having read the manga, I'm afraid this is only the mere beginning of the emotional Rollercoaster this last act of mha is gonna take us on
I love rewatching series’ with you two since it’s a great opportunity to find something I missed, like the amazing writing in Ida’s scene grabbing Deku’s hand After the battle with Stain, they were both hospitalized with Ida having a severe injury to his hand. It’s one that threatens the use of it, which becomes a thing they bond over since Deku is also overusing his body. Feeling disappointed in his revenge, he tells Deku that he won’t fix it until he feels he’s worthy of becoming a hero. They shake their broken hands on it. In this scene, a full circle moment happens. Everyone is breaking through to Deku slightly, but he drives it home with his words and by reaching out - wouldn’t you know it - the same hand he broke in season 2. By meddling where he didn’t need to, Ida saves Deku the same way Deku saved him So so beautiful imo
I don't even have the words to describe this episode. First of all, I'm saying this now, Deku needs therappy. Everyone who was in the war needs therappy. It was really heartbreaking to see him struggling like this. Like, he would put everyone's safety and not even care for himself, starving himself, not sleeping, etc. I really feel like class 1-A is one big family. They all stand together and care for Deku, which is what he really needs right now. Even Bakugo...and apologizing. I can't wait to the reaction of Uraraka's speech. The citizens really needed an earful.
I never noticed before that Bakugo actually calls him Izuku in the apology. Now its even more reminiscent of the line where Vegeta says "Goku, you are the strongest" and not Kakarot. The scenes carry similar weight in terms of admitting weakness (I don't know if Kenny has seen any Dragonball but I know this comment section has).
It hurts to see Deku run away from his friends that are trying to help him but Deku is also trying to keep them safe. And Deku keeps breaking away and Class A feels powerless. I've been waiting for Bakugo's apology for so long! It's such a beautiful moment and he even calls him Izuku. It brings me to tears how much Katuski's grown and cares for Izuku. And Montana doubted Bakugo would ever apologies last episode. Izuku always thought Katsuki was amazing even if the bullying. Katuski was scared of Izuku, so he bullied him and Katsuki feels so guilty about what he did. There is a lot more information about their relationship in the manga and the spin-offs. I get the people are scared, but Izuku is a child and I would feel so guilty and never be able to live with myself if I turn my back on a boy in need. He's just needs a break. We can give him that.
One thing to keep in mind is while the exact timeline is unclear, its possible deku was gone for roughly a month, during which his only real meals came from all might which he gave up, and while its not explicitly stated, given his fear and paranoia I can't imagine him sleeping for more than an hour or two at a time, more likely no sleep at all towards the end of it.
AM casually shrugged off sleep for days under no real pressure when he was a pro. Considering Deku's OFA is much stronger and he's under far more pressure, it's totally plausible he hasn't got a single wink of sleep since Lady Nagant.
I knew if there was a subject that needed its own appreciation and also taken apart it would be the HARDEST effort of the people trying to get across to Deku. And that is Bakugo’s Apology. (I split the big chase and the incredible emotions that go into that separate) There is no two ways about it, one of the greatest moments in MHA. It was building for a LONG time and it is the peak of Bakugo’s effort into his relationship with Deku. A relationship ridden with toxicity, along with COUNTLESS of complex emotions that the two could barely articulate around. All falling away from the competition that these two have sworn themselves to. Deku told Bakugo that his yelling is why they could never have real conversations and Bakugo has AT LONG LAST made his decision to mellow himself out to do this. He has decided to air out all his inner conclusions he has kept to himself since season 5 and has been building ever since. Why he hated Deku. Deku’s emotional strength to go with his ability as an empath is his GREATEST weapon of them all. Yes it is currently collapsed ENTIRELY all over him. But it is his heart that he has feared. All-Might even called him out on that in season 3 after the rematch. His heart was so big, so full of EVERYTHING Bakugo never felt like he had the ability to show. Bakugo has lived a life where he feels like he can’t make mistakes or be vulnerable. He’s not allowed to lose. And he has to be on top. It keeps the expectations and assumptions he will be nothing less of the greatest and he has his eyes set on being the #1 hero and surpass All-Might. Here comes Deku with ZERO expectation. ZERO assumption of being ANYTHING. But he has the complete freedom to dream and invent himself. And he CHOOSES to always be there to see what Bakugo becomes in his pursuit to be the best because he wants to succeed too. He’s there whenever Bakugo falls. Which to Bakugo is nothing but a deep dark reminder he has fallen. He has made mistakes. And Bakugo thinks if he always wins and never makes mistakes what need will he have of a safety net that’s there for no reason? (Well I imagine his mother isn’t doing the best as a safety net. We’ve been over how SHE contributes to his wonderful personality in season 3 and ESPECIALLY 4.) And getting into UA was an INCREDIBLE experience for Bakugo as rather than showing the world he never needed a safety net, he fell and made mistakes over and OVER again. And Deku was STILL always there. No matter what he did, Deku’s 1st instinct was to be there. And Bakugo lost to him over and over again. Not just from OFA, but to his personality. But Bakugo didn’t allow himself to see it was because of Deku that created this, but All-Might’s OFA. But that’s not it. People rallied behind him. Saw HIS leadership. This entire class family relationship was CREATED by Deku. And it’s all come down to this. He calls him Izuku. Because for the 1st time in THE ENTIRE SHOW, Bakugo has allowed Izuku to be WORTH something to him. He stops calling him Deku because to Bakugo, he is no longer worthless. That’s right. This apology has a L’Oreal ad. Because he’s worth it. He won’t say you’re not being a symbol because you are. He’s not going to tell you you’ve made wrong decisions. Because you haven’t. Your logic is sound. You’ve hit a wall and that’s ok. Bakugo has come to realize that DEKU is the one with no safety net. Much in the same way Sir Nighteye realized All-Might had no safety net. And Sir Nighteye even warned All-Might you CAN’T give Deku OFA BECAUSE of this wall. And with the most unbelievable part of it all, he apologizes to Deku as the one who has abused his safety net. And vows to be his. And I’m prepared for what is to come. And I know a GREAT DEAL OF YOU are not going to like what I say next. Because while that is the PEAK of Bakugo development. I have to point out reality. The most powerful thing in this episode is not the apology. In fact there isn’t a single line of dialogue for it. It’s silence. From Izuku. Izuku just did something that NO ONE was ready for. And I have to point out a trait of his character. Izuku…struggles IMMENSELY putting in words of what causes him pain. And he takes it to the ABSOLUTE extreme. So when something causes him pain and he ADMITS IT, it’s reserved for what he feels IMMENSELY about. He is the most forgiving character in the show. And while Shigaraki and AFO will never be forgiven by Deku, here is his opportunity to show the sheer size of HIS heart and forgive Bakugo. But he doesn’t. Izuku just flat out DID NOT FORGIVE BAKUGO. That silence was in place of someone that ALWAYS SAYS “That’s ok.” Or “You didn’t need to do this for me” or ANYTHING of the sort. He says sorry I said you guys can’t keep up. And promptly passes out. Here we go. Izuku did NOT fall to his newfound safety net that Bakugo just offered to be, but Bakugo is there anyway as that is the inverse of what Izuku has done. Because it’s the right thing for Bakugo to progress if he wants Izuku in his life. Bakugo even made a preface that this doesn’t change a thing. Because he knew he wouldn’t forgive him. All-Might said you have nothing to apologize for in S6E9 but Bakugo did it anyway. Because he knew. He wasn’t forgiven in season 3 when he found out about OFA. And at no point was it made clear Deku DID forgive him. Bakugo is in a MUCH more unfavorable position that Izuku is when it comes to being an unwanted safety net. And that reason is Bakugo threw out a LOT of his safety nets and torched them for good measure. A DECADE OF BULLYING is not surpassed by 8 months of training. Because there was no space between the bullying and the training. Bakugo has ONLY taken interest in Izuku’s hold on OFA and has given next to NOTHING IN ANYTHING ELSE. It is THE ONLY THING in their relationship. And it took him from hearing he could DIE from the power before he started getting more serious in being apart of his life and has VERY little to show for it. And this ENTIRE INTERVENTION is to tell Izuku he’s more than OFA. And Bakugo has a LOT of work ahead of him to convince he can be this safety net for him as Bakugo is always someone Izuku has to be walking around eggshells next to CONSTANTLY and has to step away from JUST talking to him about OFA mission and training efforts. Izuku doesn’t want to be insulted, he doesn’t want to be screamed at, but Bakugo just keeps doing it but he tolerates it because he wants to be there for BAKUGO. That’s…not a good foundation for a safety net on Izuku’s end. And it is on BAKUGO’S side to accommodate him to make that a convincing point and it appears he’s ready to put in that work. Because in my opinion, after all this time, Bakugo has made it to zero and not negative points on the balancing scale. Now that he has apologized, the work to being Izuku’s TRUE friend has begun. And that means he has to understand Izuku Midoriya and take his perspective seriously. Because yes, making friends between bully and victim is a LOT of work and it takes WAY longer than 8 months to be ok. Especially when the FULL FORCE of the bullying ended 8 months ago and it didn’t FULLY disappear. And it’s not just an apology away to get over the massive communication issues they have had. And Izuku is no closer to breaking out of his catastrophic headspace in fact he just gained a LOT more bricks. He’s just on the floor now. Bakugo didn’t even convince Izuku to submit because as much of a MASSIVE comfort as this was supposed to be, it doesn’t address Izuku’s concerns. How could it. The people around him, the wall meant to protect him, the terrifying point of if an AFO shows up, these kids have ZERO OPTIONS because IZUKU knew he’s outclassed and ran circles around EVERYONE in the class. When he wakes up, he reconsiders his stance, and comes to the EXACT SAME CONCLUSION he was at for the start of the episode. He’s just too tired to crawl away. But if he had ANY energy after that giant apology scene…yeah, I think Izuku would’ve just turned around and try to leave again in spite of ALL THAT EFFORT. And worst of all, Izuku was trying to warn the kids of something they didn’t realize. He knew he scared the public. He KNEW people were looking for OFA. He KNEW people would realize he is the true target of AFS and AFO. He’s not blind to the news coming in. He likely needed it to help him find villain incidents. He knew this place wasn’t his sanctuary. It’s his PRISON. With a matching “protest” against his EXISTENCE being in the vicinity. (Nezu I think this is a new low and is the wrong person today. This is literally everything the top heroes have been saying over a dozen times is THE LAST THING that needs to be near Izuku and he shouldn’t see AT ALL. And what JUSTIFIED him staying off campus!) Izuku is forced to face THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE screaming for him to be shoved out of the shelter. And the sheer despair on Izuku’s face as he is nigh expressionless AGAIN, is because he was never broken out and is now simply saddled with the emotions Bakugo just handed him and there’s more where that came from and it’s going to get WORSE for him. And even in the face of EVERYTHING brought in front of him to convince him, he immediately goes to leave UA again and continue his hunt in solitude. He doesn’t tell his classmates, and his classmates don’t even notice him trying to escape again. All but for one exception. Ochako Uraraka. And we’ll see what SHE does next time.
For Muscular, the worst thing he says to him is “Shut up.” WHILE he is getting crushed to death. For Shigaraki it’s “You’re the only one I will never forgive.” In the face of THE ENORMOUS DECAY WAVE. For AFO it’s “Keep your mouth shut.” In the face of him doing LITERALLY EVERYTHING HE ORCHESTRATED. For Bakugo in the face of bullying he NEVER understood and could not handle, he said “You can be so mean sometimes and I HATE IT.” Already one of if not the STRONGEST negative stances he takes. And we all brush it off because to us it’s not a strong stance we would take. I think it’s safe to say literally all of us would have a few more choice words than Izuku would in the face of these awful people. (Not including Bakugo) And yet BAKUGO was the strongest even if it was tied to his idolizing his passion and drive to win. Iida punches HIM in the face and Deku doesn’t HESITATE to forgive him and even apologizes. (I wanted this BADLY in here to support that Deku not forgiving him is a HUGE deal.) I also wanted to bring up more specifically Mitsuki’s role in not being Bakugo’s safety net, Nezu’s failure, and Uraraka ACTUALLY stopping Deku. (It’s been a long writing session for this)
Danger sense is based on hostility not the ability to do harm to the user, so even if something is dangerous to deku if theres no hostility or intent to harm then it wont activate, if a villain had used a wall of ice like todoroki danger sense would have activated

Need to check out arcane season 2 it's epic !!! Also best reactors ever ❤❤
My boy Deku loook cold with it here have nice❤
I said it before of how much Bakugo have grown, and how much he cares about everyone specially Deku. But here when he understands Deku that he let Iida be the one that reach out his hand because he new a close friend was needed to do the work (just like Deku knew that kirishima was important to rescue Bakugo), shows a lot . The icing on the cake was his apology to Deku ❤.
I love him and Deku they are amzing friends❤
In the manga and the subtitled anime, Iida has a line when grabbing Deku that is kept out of the sub, “I am Ingenium! I will run as fast and as far as I can to take a lost boy by the hand!”
That line really sticks with me.
YES THIS
That’s so cool!! Later on in season 7 he has a similar line about how his legs are made to guide lost children when he is helping todoroki!!! :0
Me too is amzing episode and şad moment too😢❤
The way Deku had forgiven him so long ago but Bkg still apologized shows how much the guilt was weighting on him😭
@@personperson51 where when and how was Bakugo forgiven?
I agree with you my boy Deku cold with it 😢 l love his battle❤

Mineta to Deku: "Do you know what made me fall for you?!"

It's even better cause they are at Kamino in this episode too

Yeah and yet they aren't actually fighting seriously here.
Tbf, his classmates weren't trying to harm him, either, + most of them dont specialize in capturing ppl without causing any dmg....
That was a feat I tell you now
i used to get bullied and thrown in lockers as a kid just for being me..such a huge nerd for anything that interests me, so when Kenny said that..I know what he meant on a deeper level personally, but you’re both so cool!! I always get emotional for that same bakugo reason

me when I'm in a "best animated episode " contest and my opponent is a 23rd episode of an mha season:💀
That's why the finale sucks.
His Dream changed to become a PRO HERO with his friends.
That is such a nice touch ❤.
When bakugo was apologizing to deku I saw his the hoodie that said professional yapper I laughed at the absolute wrong time
Every time Iida says "I'll always race to you." it just HITS.
14:25 LMAO I LOVE THE EDIT HERE
They didn't say ANYTHING about this on Patreon, which was weird. 😕
Ye lol
I find it crazy how these KIDS with superpowers are more self aware than most ADULTS.
Dabi, not long ago: "Let's fall together"
Shoto, now: "Let's stand together"
Unrelated contexts largely but interesting parallel in their respective desires for the people close to them
I have seen bakugo's apology a couple of times, I still started crying during that scene
Highlight for me was Yaoyorozu giving Midoriya the Sports Festival Bakugo treatment. She straight up was ready to lull him to sleep 😂
All the Class A flashbacks of how Deku helped them all was SUCH a great touch. 🥲🥲
Some of my favorites was Sato telling Deku he couldn't use is food coloring to make Eri candied apples (DON'T say Eri doesn't need you, Deku 😭) and Kirishima realizing that the story he heard about a middle-schooler who saved his friend WAS Deku.
@@JackWitt-g9p I'm not talking about that, but about the "he owned it to himself" part.
True
Gotta love how nearly everyone in Class 1A had some message for him or tried to show concern in their own way. Those who know, know.
yup if ya know ya know
Deku: I've had enough of this! What the heck are you...?!
Bakugo: I'm your friend! We are all!
Ochako: That's what we telling you I'm not going to let the likes of All For One get ahold of you!!
Iida: And if you won't listen to reason then...
Class 1-A: we are here..and we will stop you!
That’s the summary of this episode
Class 1-A: please… Izuku… we *need* you.
They’re literally like “Come home.”

Spoiler warning:
Danger sense activates based on the attackers intention. That becomes important later.
That scene of **** tho 😶
This is my favorite episode in all of MHA. This brings every single thing this class has faced full circle. The kids have finally gained permission to being field active after a month of training and recovering from the war, and they have set up everything they need for what they are really out here to do. Not just save civilians, not just rescue people, priority one is get everything prepared to have this intervention for Deku’s sake to convince him to bring him back home to UA. And it is one of the hardest tasks they’ve ever been assigned. (Split into 2 parts for the fight, and of course I had to make the apology and aftermath its own part.)
And here’s the reality that makes this both so awesome, but also SO SAD AND SCARY.
AFO would DESTROY YOU.”
And the REALLY big issue is that these kids have JUST gotten involved with OFA.
Edit: I used to think this was just a mistranslation of the dub, and I believed that for a while.
Are you alright ?
Deku deserves the proper respect here, solos his whole class after he hasn't slept or eaten in days 😂😂😂 dude is a madman
One of the most underrated moments in MHA. At 21:22 when Bakugo says “We’ll save you” the music changes to a subtle reprise of the song that played when Deku saved Eri. Masterfully done
This is definitely one of the best episodes in season 6 I love that bakugo apologised to deku
THAT THUMBNAIL IS SO CLEAN
Amazing thumbnail once again Kenny. 👏👏👏👏
You guys aren’t ready for the next season. You’re gonna love it!!
this episode makes me sob every time like i am currently crying my eyes out as we speak
This is my favorite episode.of.the whole show, and I'm up to date with the anime, but this episode combined with the next? A masterpiece that has been building up since S1, the whole part about them getting Deku back got me crying so hard even as I rewatched it
Shoutout to the goat of Talk No Jutsu, All For One. A few words and he can tilt anyone into an L
The XIII face reveal remains the most surprised I've ever been watching this show.
Wish this vigilante arc lasted longer
Same here.
Same
18:05 was not expecting a "Superman vs the Elite" reference. 👍
I’m SO glad people got the reference haha I love that line
Did anyone else momentarily forget the channel is called Letts React and think the "L R" neon sign meant Left and Right?
Love that bakugo scene but I have a problem with how his character is portrayed by author. Some of his actions if viewed seriously are worse than endevor's yet still he somehow always gets away with it
He’s a child. Reaaaaaally important to remember that as a child it’s pretty much impossible for him to be as bad as endeavor
Yo I love dark shadow with that sad puppy dog look like " why we do this fren?" It's so sweet
that moment when Bakugo leaves the task to someone else and is there to clean up where it matters.. shows soo much growth and understanding from him.. it's insane
Yep, still can’t watch this episode without tearing up lol
If you weren't crying already, this episode and next episode will ruin you.
I cannot wait for the next episode it's heartwarming and hesrtbreaking at the same time
Time to tear bend next episode
This isn't flying this is falling with style
Fun fact: when deku was In other people arms he didn’t feel comfortable with them but with bakugo he fall right to sleep and he looked comfortable that’s how you know they have a great friendship now❤❤
I expected bigger reactions to this episode in particular lol this one had me bawling my eyes out first time around
What is your favorite character ?
@SquallSZ Toga, the episode im talking about is episode 20 of season 7
@@MegaSpecter8105 Amazing episode.
Oh my heart. This is just beautiful. One of my favorites
Ida has some of my favorite parts in this, especially cause he's going so fast his costume literally breaks apart, and then i break apart from all the emotions.
(At 17:25) he can't hold his emotions back anymore.
Ida was MVP he made me cry when he goes so fast it was so beautiful
I'm so glad to see I'm not at all alone when i say this is probably the best, if not, one of the best episodes of mha and the ABSOLUTE favorite of mine
i could watch it like 20 times and still have things to get hyped and emotional for
there are so many things to talk about on this episode, many of which are covered in this reaction so all I'm gonna say is
this is probably THE BEST way to have a fight to showcase how FAR every character has come, both power and writing wise
and having watched both season 7 and having read the manga, I'm afraid this is only the mere beginning of the emotional Rollercoaster this last act of mha is gonna take us on
8:10 Kaminari: You could really use a bath!
You *all* could really use a decent mic! 😂
now welcome to the reallll outstanding arc of MHA 🗣️
I love rewatching series’ with you two since it’s a great opportunity to find something I missed, like the amazing writing in Ida’s scene grabbing Deku’s hand
After the battle with Stain, they were both hospitalized with Ida having a severe injury to his hand.
By meddling where he didn’t need to, Ida saves Deku the same way Deku saved him
So so beautiful imo
I don't even have the words to describe this episode.
First of all, I'm saying this now, Deku needs therappy. Everyone who was in the war needs therappy. It was really heartbreaking to see him struggling like this. Like, he would put everyone's safety and not even care for himself, starving himself, not sleeping, etc. I really feel like class 1-A is one big family. They all stand together and care for Deku, which is what he really needs right now. Even Bakugo...and apologizing.
I can't wait to the reaction of Uraraka's speech. The citizens really needed an earful.
Oh my gosh this episode is sooo good! I don't think I've been able to get through this episode, or the next a single time without crying!
as soon as I saw the wall around UA a image of the wall in aot just appeared in my mind
This is the episode that made me fall in love with this show. ❤️ MHA will forever be one of my favorites of all time.
I can never watch this ep without tearing up
It hurts to see Deku run away from his friends that are trying to help him but Deku is also trying to keep them safe.
(At 9:03) a new trophy mounted on a wall.
Why did the guy that said "So guarantee it!" sound like goku.😂😂😂
that ice wall definetly concussed him
lol no. 😂 At this point, literally nobody but ShigAFO is on Deku's level. If he wasn't so exhausted, he'd have shaken off Iida's grip in the end.
Bruh, I need the final seasons of MHA on Netflix ASAP just to watch episodes like this one!
Justin Briner popped off this episode
(I split the big chase and the incredible emotions that go into that separate)
There is no two ways about it, one of the greatest moments in MHA.
We’ve been over how SHE contributes to his wonderful personality in season 3 and ESPECIALLY 4.)
And getting into UA was an INCREDIBLE experience for Bakugo as rather than showing the world he never needed a safety net, he fell and made mistakes over and OVER again.
(I wanted this BADLY in here to support that Deku not forgiving him is a HUGE deal.)
I also wanted to bring up more specifically Mitsuki’s role in not being Bakugo’s safety net, Nezu’s failure, and Uraraka ACTUALLY stopping Deku. (It’s been a long writing session for this)
Danger sense is based on hostility not the ability to do harm to the user, so even if something is dangerous to deku if theres no hostility or intent to harm then it wont activate, if a villain had used a wall of ice like todoroki danger sense would have activated
(At 15:44) a mach cone? Did they break the sound barrier?
Simply taken out of this when Mineta shows up in a diaper to try to talk down Midoriya.
14:30 a good mineta sceen is crazy work
How sad is this, but it's more sad when Uraraka save Deku from the people😢

My FAVORITE episode 🥰🥰🥰🥰
Even yall dub haters gotta acknowledge the emotion dekus VA was able to put into this episode.

Feels weird hearing Bakugo not yell
i just want to say thanks for watching dub its much easier for a review.
