When he said he carries 3 rod boxes and a bottle jack I thought he said a bottle of Jack haha I was like yeah rock on!!
haha I am sure there are some guys with a stash of Jack in their truck. - Kayla
I would fab up a headache rack to protect the back window. Window replacements are not cheap. Granted, everything seems to be secured down good. However, you can never be too safe.
I would like to se someone do a pipe line TV show like Ice Road but all welding
I want to get into pipeline welding but I have a few questions and it would be great if you could answer them.
1. Why do you have to supply your own rig
2. Is it better to be in a union
3. Why do pipeline welders make so much
4. Is there a ketch to the job or are you getting paid for your skill
5. Is there a lot of work out there in pipeline welding
6. Is it true, do some companies pay a bonus if the weld passes x-ray
7. If I have all my certifications, will I still start as a helper or as long as I have a rig can I start as a welder
8. What do I do if I get out of school with all my certifications and I don't have a rig. Will a company supply one or will I have to be a helper until I buy a rig.
Thanks. Again
Also compliment you on design and work!! Awesome!!
Great purpose built rig. Would love to see a more in depth video on tools and the bed itself, also maybe a video talking about ways to find a helper positions.
Thank you for the suggestions on videos. - Kayla
I've only just started learning how to weld and only have a small everlast welder but one day I want to build out a rig like yours. Great work.
It’s nice seeing another welder from the ole home land posting information videos
Cool beans brother, ya done a great job, and that's the most I ever heard ya talk son lol
IAMSCOTLANDFOREVER
Awesome video Austin. I have been wanting to see the rig. Nice job.
One dope rig ya got
I hope to have one in the near future.
Great video trying to get started in my own Mobil rig and this helped me get a lot of ideas thank you !
Glad it helped. Wishing you well.
Nice vid man plus I see you stay in claysville ive been in the patch for about 9 years. Happy to see the work picking up! Anyway be safe out there and rock on!
Beautiful set up! Makes me just wanna go to work looking at it!
Tyler Alexander
Lol I know what you mean. Thanks.
That was amazing. Thank you for sharing. I learned so much.
Thanks for watching Mary. Glad we could teach you something new today. :) - Kayla
This is great I have a flatbed dually I'd love to do something very similar to. Pipeline welding is definitely my dream job.
Adam Campbell
Thanks man! That’s great! Keep up the hard work. You’ll get there.
I'm glade ya'll finally got out to show off the rig. It was a great video. I would agree with maxi though. There isn't to many videos on youtube of experienced guys laying out branches. I myself will be practicing laying them out starting next month. maybe we talk austin into doing a short video on dos and don't when laying out a branch. These is food for thought. Anyway you guys stay safe out there god bless.
We have added that to the list of possible videos. Thank you for the suggestion and for watching. God bless. - Kayla
Corey Smith look up 12" branch lay out. A buddy of mine Has one on TH-cam. It's actually very good and informative. The Blue Book tells How to do it.
12:12 I thought you said "a bottle of jack" it was funny. Good video man.
bad ass rig dude, cant wait to have one of my own.
You do great work.i like watching your videos
Great video, Big Daddy enjoyed very much ! Have a great day...
awesome truck nice setup. great vid!!
Brotha you have a clean rig. I work for SWAT and run shutdowns. Sometimes I wish I would have became a row dog but I don't know anyone on, so it would have been hard. Maybe one day
Nice rig brother. Stay safe
Practical and well thought out rig! Well done!
Henchman67
Thanks
Neither of us are super hip on welding rig trucks but we both really enjoyed this! I really liked the intro! Austin is super talented making that bed himself I can dig it!!! Beto loves the custom bed as well. It is sleek an organized it doesn't look like a million things are going on when really it looks like that's what it could be lol
It could be a mess for sure. He did a great job with this bed. I love it more than the last, but he already has ideas for another so I am sure he will be at it again eventually.
Austin and Kayla ,
It would be interesting if he started a custom bed building business and made that his money maker.
Great video dude, nice set up. We are going to customize an old Ford flat bed at my company and I have some good ideas for tuck away storage now .
Man i think a good video would be how to lay out a branch from start to finish. I think alot of people would enjoy that as well. Have a blessed day.
We have had a couple people interested in that before. We plan to make some more pipeline videos this year and will add that to the list of possibilities. Thank you for the request. Hope you have a wonderful day also. God bless. - Kayla
yeah that would be a very interesting video to watch i agree.
when you said bottle jack at first I swore you said a bottle of Jack lol
I am sure there more than a few rig tucks equipped with that too. lol
That magnet trick to get the rods blew my mind! Great rig man.
I don't know anything about welding but this video was very interesting. Maybe because I love trucks 👍🏽
Probably so. A cool truck is a cool truck - right?
Its good that you did something to prevent rust i see a lot of guys that build their beds but dont paint them or anything
For the yeti make sure you close the latches when holding ice it will make a big difference.
Nice rig man. I work in the oil fields in New Mexico and Texas so I see a lot of welding rigs. Yours is nicely set up.
Lon Del
Thank you. Be safe out there.
I feel like I seen this truck awhile back here in Indiana , there was a few of them and they all had a pretty nice set up
man thats a awesome rig man. beautiful!!😍
Thank you.
Yess please post a video on the details of your bed or if I just haven't found it please link it!!!
a video on the tools or laying out and cutting a branch test would be awsome
Man that's one sweet rig.
good lookin bed now I need to build one
thanks Austin great video.
Thank you for watching!
I had no idea how much stuff you had back there! So custom and organized-you have mad skills. How do you keep the items secure back there from theft?
Some things are locked and some things you just hope people will do the right thing. We have had things stolen before and it just means replacing it because there is no real good way to lock it up. Not fun, but just the way it is. Thank you for watching. - Kayla
Yea I have a question show us how to build it “the bed”
Hey I live in Oklahoma too. I just got my first welding job yesterday.
We love it when other Okies find us. Congratulations on your job. That is awesome!
Nice setup... like the look and functionality!
Thanks
great vid. maybe a vid about your prior welding career and how to get on the pipe line welding for people in school? thanks!!!!!
Great suggestion. We will add that to our list of video ideas. Thank you. Take care. - Kayla
This would be very helpful, I'm about to be going to school for a cert and would love to know how to get in the pipeline side of things, i used to be an NDT level 2
Nice rig ✌🏻️
Great looking truck👍👍
Nice rig setup 🤩
Hot damn, nice setup. Thanks for the tour!
SkepticalZombie
You bet. Thanks for watching.
Can you explain your 5th wheel to gooseneck conversion and how everything tows being moved back so far?
Cool video! Your not to far away it looks like. I'm in WV, looks like work is gonna be picking up after a slow 2016.
Not far at all and we think (and hope) so too. We are ready!
Looks real nice man
Gosh dang!!! Nice truck!!!
Nice craftsmanship on the truck bed.
wailnshred
Thanks
I'd like to know more about the fenders.
i noticed you’re from oklahoma. enjoy the videos!
very nice truck. good explanation.
Slick rig! I really like that bed! You should do a more in depth video on tools I noticed a jack stand clamp I'd like to see if you have other home made stuff. Do you carry bevel machines normally?
Would like to see a video of the specs/build of your rig’s bed
Nice vid like your truck thanks for the walk around.
Thank you for watching. -Kayla
Those Carhartt vests are the shit for layering !
looks awesome man. thanks for the vid.
Garrett Adams
Thanks! You bet! I enjoyed making the video.
Excellent job nice truck
awesome truck, good build on box, and dodge truck A++++++++
Thank you. We agree on the Dodge. - Kayla
As far as your YETI, keep the drain cracked to drain water. The forward and backward movement of your truck jostles the ice around, it breaks down, and then it melts easier, which in turn, your ice is jostling around in water. BTW, good job on the video.
Shoot I just wanna know where you picked that chrome hard hat up
any build pics or vids?
also anything you wold change if you was to build another,
and last but not least why is the lincoln sitting lower then the deck (noticed this in a lot of welding rigs)?
oh yeah are both windshields broken on the dodges?
and next time your in Nashville, goto "wild horse saloon" (you was right by it)
Thanks For the vids (I have watched them all now - time for you to make some more)
Nice rig!!
Would like to see the specs of the bed. Simplicity looks way better I think. Nice set up man
More about the fenders for sure!
Looks almost like the bed I'm building now
great video i learned a lot thanks
bill45colt
You bet. Thanks for watching. I started a welding channel if you don’t already know. Go check it out and let me know what other videos you might like. Email works best for me. Arosswelding@gmail.com
Nice set up.
that's cool man like the way u made it look 👍
Sheldon Yazzie
Thanks
Can you make a in depth video on how you actually made your bed? I'd like to put a bed similar to this on my 09 dodge.
We are going to do some more videos on specifics on this bed but to actually show how he made it may have to wait until he builds another one. Thank you for the suggestion. We will add it to our list. - Kayla
That would be great. I was thinking the same thing. A friend of mine wants me to make him a bed. I’m carpenter by trade but live welding. I would love to do it but it might be a little to ambush for me.
nice set up.... can't beat the dodge Cummins setup
Ya no doubt
Austin and Kayla can you explain why most welders own cummins trucks rather than duramax's or 350s? Im going to college in 3 weeks to learn how to weld so i want to learn everything i can to be a good welder and make that money!
Omar Rojas reliability, can't make money if you can't get to work
You keep saying it's a work truck but it's the cleanest I have ever seen.
I'm always one to wanna see all the trick tools other welders make to make things easier
Also how much did your bed weight
My 06 dodge
Cab and chassis weighed 7040 pounds
Truck with welding bed weighed 8080 pounds
And completely tooled out was 10780 pounds
I'd like to see how he set up the b&w turnover ball as I am about to start my bed I really like that idea
cj glassey I will try to get some closer shots and maybe have him give some pointers on that specific part. Have fun with your bed. We love the process.
Cool truck guys!
Thanks, Brian. Glad you found us!
I would like to see a detailed view of the lead rack to support your welding leads when welding on the opposite side of the pipe.
Hey, Jimmy. Thanks for watching. I will let Austin know and hopefully we can get that out for you eventually. Hope your well.
I just bought a Miller Bobcat 250 and want to add it to my two ton truck and would like to see how I could make these cable support racks.
Nice rig 👍🏻
good job! guys
Sherrie Machart
Thanks!
BADASS!
Nice rig brother 👍🏻
Thank you!
man that's some rig
Great vid I'm also up in pa/Ohio where you at maybe we can meet up. Be safe out there brother.
Sweet rig
Hi. Wanted to ask a see I you could get sum arc shots of you welding on the pipeline. Think that be awesome thx brother
Sick rig brother !
ivan adame
Thanks
Ill be leaving Hobart welding school in june already got my 8" sced 80 uphill cert and will have Downhill by the time i leave....i wanna do pipeline work i just dont know the right places to look to find some jobs any pointers?
awesome rigs! I'm welder myself. always want buy rig like this one. love Diesel! nice work with video! and thanks for sharing. u guys are awesome! do more video with pipeline too. love ur RV living! looking in to 5th wheel right now. first time with it. been grew up with travel trailer that my parents owns. hear 5th wheel is bit better and easy to handle? true? so keep up with awesome videos! stay safe!!
Hi there. So glad you found us then. We look forward to doing more pipeline lifestyle videos soon. I (kayla) have been around trailers all my life and find 5th wheels much easier to maneuver and they for sure pull smoother in my opinion. They do have great options now though for travel trailers so I think they are doable, but the fifth wheel is our preference.
Definitely 5th wheel! Looking forward to see more of videos of u and Austin. I enjoy it! My finance really like that cooking pressure pot. I showed her the video that u show how to use pressure pot. Now she is going to get it sometime this week and try it. Lol so anyway looking forward to see other video!
We plan on making videos for a long time. Hope she loves her pot as much as I do. I have used it to death. Making rice right now actually. Y'all take care and talk soon!
Great video
How does a helper practice welding during off time? Do helpers have their own rigs?
Really nice rig you've got there. Sure wish I had that setup for my Everlast equipment for those times I have an onsite job.
Damn man that's a badass bed!
John52 Chesser
Thanks
i like your setup and i wish you well you look and sound like a very decent guy happy 2018
Nizam Harold
Thanks. Hope you have a great year also! Be safe!
My husband would like to know if you have a rod oven also where do you keep your spare tire. Thx great videos y'all do
Jeanette Norton no rod oven and no spare. Living life on the edge. Lol we try to keep good tires on it and if all else fail and he has a bad blow out he could just limp to a station with only one tire on one side of the rear. Not idea but that is how we justify it.
man im hoping to be a pipeline welder after i get out of welding college so what would be some good ideas for a welding be
what are the benefits of this over a transit van?
I'm runnin an 06 dodge ram 3500. Always been a good truck aside from needing a lot of front end maintenance. I like the deck you built. Seems like a popular American design but I've never seen one here in canada like that. Did you have a blueprint to build it from or just came up with it yourself?. Looks like a lot of work but save a lot of dough doing it yourself. love to hear more about the deck build. really enjoyed this video. cheers!
so where do you go about getting welding beds for trucks?
