Very well done James❣️ I have never seen a better video that explains in such detail how to fly the DJI Neo. 👌 You are guaranteed a subscription!❣️ Best regards from 🇨🇭 JoJo
The Neo is like a Tello on HGH. It's really great that you can use it with or without a remote control. I've tested out all the modes myself. I had two kids, 6ys and 7ys, and operate the Neo from takeoff in their hand to landing in their hand in at least 4 modes each. After getting the hang of learning to keep themselves and their hands still for takeoff, they performed each mode easily. I bought the DC-N3 remote controller for manual control, higher speeds (35mph), and a few more features, like gimble control. It will allow me to do a lot more things I already do with my Mini 3 Pro. The only thing I need to do is upgrade to the Mini 4 Pro to allow me to use the built-in screen remote control on the Neo. As the Mini 3 Pro controller isn't capable of connecting to the Neo and I wouldn't have had to buy another controller. You don't really save space in your gear bag unless you're using the Neo without any RC and batteries with their charger. The predetermined modes as a standalone unit are fantastic. But if I'm going to bring the charger, batteries, and remote, I'd rather bring my Mini with its accessories instead. Their footprint in my gear bag is minimal, and it's a much quieter drone, which is what you want if you don't want the attention. I'd use the Neo for quick shots.
ive just got the neo i fly it alongside dji.s other fantastic budget drone the mini 2se. Many thanks for the video very informative and more than helpful on many counts
Thank you so much for such a great and inspiring video. I’m intending to buy the NEO as my first drone (have watched your other superb and helpful videos on it and have liked and subscribed). But this one has really inspired me. Plus the heads up on the phone video software that you used - amazing to get those shots that are perfect for sharing with family). Nostalgia see your MTB route and hearing your accent as agreed living 40y in Scotland we have just moved south to ‘the north’ to be near our ’kids’ but still have my eMTB active !
Very comprehensive tutorial James, thank you. Can we still change the ‘mode of flying’? I fly mode 1 which is a rarity nowadays as everyone flies ‘mode 2’ I changed it on my mini 2, just hoping the software will be the same? Thanks again 👍
It's not really possible to compare different frame rates in videos, as the video is all reported as one frame rate, though I do show the difference in resolution in the video.
@@LensOfJames I understand, there is very little information about movies made on the Neo in 1080p 60. That's why I suggested it. I use that setting on my Mini 2 and prefer it over 4K 30. The only one I found is indoor. th-cam.com/video/D8VJXuioVZY/w-d-xo.html
I've tested it and unfortunately the DJI Neo doesn't follow you in Circle Mode if you walk away. It just sticks to a predetermined pattern that is set when you start the automated flght pattern.
Since you have a mini 4K, can you check if the neo works with the RC-N1C? I wanna see if I can get away with buying the bundle without the controller. Thanks!
I was considering using a Neo to survey my house roof. I AM within 2 miles of a light aircraft grass runway Aerodrome. Will the drone refuse to fly even at low levels in my garden, if it technically is inside a drone no fly zone?
There are different types of restrictions so it depends what zone you're in. Sometimes there's a button on the screen to press to say you take full responsibility for flying within a particular zone. Have a look at the Drone Assist app which has all the latest restrictions on see your local area.
@@LensOfJamesI know I am a red zone. I am not very close by and I am in an ordinary residentialarea. I would be happy to take responsibility as it would only be below tree height. The question is whether the drone can REFUSE to fly at all in some cases. Much less useful to survey my roof in that scenario.
From the DJI website: "DJI UAVs cannot takeoff in Restricted Zones. When a UAV flies near the boundary of a Restricted Zone, it will automatically decelerate and hover in place."
Answering my own question. I am talking about low level flights in my own garden below tree height. I'm in a red zone as is all of my city as a grass runway is nearby (1 mile away). Yes the App recognises the proximity. Yes it will take off with a click through warning. I'm not attempting to push any boundaries, just survey the roof and photograph my house.
A few things to try: make sure the battery has been charged fully, make sure the drone's turned on (via a short press then long press of the power button and LEDs on top will light up) When you press the mode button on the drone does the voice tell you what mode it's in? Make sure you're holding the button long enough for it to do the countdown too. If it's not doing any of that then definitely best to contact DJI support. Hope that helps! 🙂
“Connect the aircraft to the DJI app” this is what it yells at me when I try to launch it I can’t download the dji app because even while using a VPN I still can’t access it in my country
Yes, when the DJI Neo is paired with the rc-n3 remote control it has a maximum transmission range of 10 km. That said, you probably wouldn't want to fly it that far, but it definitely makes the signal better if you're flying in built-up areas.

Fantastic video mate !!
Thank you 😊 🙏

Good review, it would be interesting to compare 4K 30 and 1080 at 60. Thanks.

May l ask you that how to add time stamps on video and picture when recording video and taking picture?
You would do it in the settings
@LensOfJames please guide me step by step in the setting.
Actually looks like you can't do this with the DJI Neo
Thanks...First Class. Really easy to follow and learn how to fly DJI Neo, Keep it up.
Thanks!
With the circle and boomarang options, do you know if you have to be stationary for it to work, or can you walk and it circles around you walking?

I've had a look and it doesn't unfortunately
Good review!
Thanks!
Tried to fly with my phone app yesterday. It's very difficult to control from the phone.
Yeah it's a cool feature to have for the DJI Neo, but there's definitely not as much control as the standard RC-N3 remote control

Can i use the usbc to usbc to replace the usbc to lighting cabble???.. or i had to buy a new one~~??
Because IM using Samsung phone
Yes, there's a usb-c to usb-c cable included specifically for Android phones. I have a Google Pixel and use that cable
Great review, but a lot of info to take in, at a high rate. 👍
Play it at half speed 😉
The propellers are not one for the front and one for the back. They are a clockwise and an anticlockwise because the propellers are paid diagonally.
Well spotted!
I cant even get it to change modes with the button.

I can’t download the dji app because even while using a VPN I still can’t access it in my country
Why wont mine hookup with drone, I've tried a dozen times
Are you trying to connect the neo to the app or the remote control?
No record in FPV mode😢
No sadly not, not without the headset and controller
I can't download apps in my android
I have a an android so it's definitely possible. Have you tried downloading it from the DJI website?
Can this Neo drone be used to do birthday parties wedding. Regards Sunjith
Hi Sunjith, I don't see why you can't use a DJI Neo for filming at a wedding :)
10km???
Yes, when the DJI Neo is paired with the rc-n3 remote control it has a maximum transmission range of 10 km. That said, you probably wouldn't want to fly it that far, but it definitely makes the signal better if you're flying in built-up areas.
Lol, it's battery at best will get a max of 2.5km if you want your drone back or 5km one way!
Very true, though having a strong transmission range is good for flying in built-up areas, not just long distances.
Mine wont find the damn thing.
Are you trying to connect the neo to the app or the remote control?
"The remote control requires a phone to be connected to it". The phone is a good idea, but is not required.
Good point!
A phone is required because mine won't do anything without hooking up with the phone. I can't get mine to hookup.
The phone is needed
Where do I please go to down load the app for this dji neo ?
Thanks glen
Google 'DJI Fly App' and download it from the DJI website :)
Is it possible to take neo drone off from the ground ?
Yes the DJI Neo I'll take off from the ground too
@LensOfJames ok thanks
Also do I need to download app for my new dji neo to fly it ?
Iv got rc3 controller btw
Thanks mate 👍
