      @@t.h.o.r. my little wood stove works great! I put the larger sticks (about 2" diameter) on the bottom level and smaller sticks on top of them with kindling and tinder on top of that. Starts burning from top goes to bottom. Once it's burning good there isn't any smoke coming from the chimney. Burns hot and clean. Should be good for my little shack I'm building. Amazing what can be done with scraps and imagination.

    -45 in winter here, so little stove would be high maintanence here when its frigid. I use a 45 gal air tank, it has a tough time heating my garage when it's that cold.. but once you get it warm... it's awesome... I experienced with used oil (Drip Feed) with a small hair dryer and WOW No Problem turned the complete stove cherry red.. I'm doin a 2x20 gal tank (vertical) with a 5 gal tank on top,,, my idea is to use oil in the top 5 gal tank, with a small air supply maybe... if i need it.... I regret selling my store bought cement lined Valley Comfort, but buddy moved into a mobile home, and those things are pitiful... I like your stove looks awesome... Years ago I built a fresh air furnace, you put the firebox in a small shed and pipe the warm air into your place.. It worked wonderful until the temp dropped to -10, I used a thermostat controlled fan so when the temp got were i wanted it shut off the fan... I love that idea but it didn't work around here.. Anywhoo ... i haven't built a stove for a very long time, and was ckn out your video cause I need to mke some hinges.. I might have to steal your idea for hinges.. So Thanks

    Very interesting. I live in a small camper in a forest and I froze all last winter (I'm in Canda). My camper is not insulated at all but I tried to do a few things to make it better for the winter. Long story short...I need to do a MUCH better job for this upcoming winter. What you made here would be absolutely perfect for me. I did use a kerosene heater last winter and it kept me alive, but i'd be foolish to not move to a wood stove considering I have an unlimited supply around me. Good stuff, you got yourself a subscriber :)

    • @t.h.o.r.
      @t.h.o.r.  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Perfect - you will need a bit of gear, but if you have welder and grinder then you are most of the way there. just stay sensible- the de gassing is simple- purge residual gas by releasing small bleed screw on side of valve till empty. unscrew the valve and stand the bottle upside down for a hour or so before you start cutting. The thin 1mm cutting discs are amazing for slicing bottle up. check my other vids for how to do various parts.

    • @OakKnobFarm
      @OakKnobFarm 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I do have some modest metal working tools, including a small MIG and various grinders / cutters, and the skills to pull it off (I think).
      My thought is LP bottle for the burner, and my soon-to-be-replaced steel domestic water heater (40 gallon) as the smoke chamber. I will also have a soon-to-be-unneeded 275 gallon oil tank I could use, but I think that's bigger than I realistically need. I'll weigh my options after I strip the insulation off the HW tank and see if it's big enough. If it's not... we're going BIG with the 275.

    wow, i hope you are able to see my message... So i am in the planning build stage and was looking at leaving out a bathroom but then thought, could copper pipping wrap around a wood burning stove in order to heat a metal bath tub... its almost pretty much an off grid bath tub set up... does anyone think this is possible or not, and any comments on this idea.i think this will help me plan out my set up more.... sorry for the long essay.... i think it would be a cool way to heat a bath tub.

    • @t.h.o.r.
      @t.h.o.r.  6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      yes- I make stainless steel chimney wraps that carry 6 litres of water around the chimney with a pipe top an bottom.. bottom pipe comes from a tank mounted slightly higher than the chimney heater. top pipe connects to the top of the same tank. when the fire is running, water is heated and the thermosiphon effect carries it upward and into the tank. cooler water replaces it in the bottom. it takes just 30 mins to get a bathfull of nice warrm water.

    • @t.h.o.r.
      @t.h.o.r.  ปีที่แล้ว

      OK- here we go: This is how I do it - Im not advocating that anyone else does it. 1; open purge screw to release residual pressure. 2: remove brass tap. 3: stand bottle upside down outside for 12 hours. 4: Proceed with cutting welding drilling. I guess that over all the years of making these Ive emptied several hundred bottles and never had any issues with this method. My offgrid water is precious so I dont fill them with water. there is simply no need.

I knew you had a LPG fire build video somewhere 😂I'm building a new two cylinder burner model at the moment, I've got a single bottle one right now but I'm doing a double horizontal model. Quick question though. How long did you purge yours before you started cutting into them? I've removed the taps and been filling them with water for the past three days and emptying and refilling at the end of the day.oh also Where did you get your door glass?
