Hey... long time crocheter here! Great haul! Sorry if this gets long, I'm writing this as I watch lol. But yes, I agree you should try the "cheaper" yarns first to practice, especially when you want to learn new stitches. Acrylic yarn gets such a bad wrap a lot of the time and it's really a shame. For things like blankets they're the best (especially when it comes down to cost efficiency) , some people complain about it being rough and what not (which I haven't experienced in quite some years) but after the wash that problem goes away anyway. Joann's and Michael's apps will be your friend because they have great coupons all the time. The stitch markers will be a lifesaver on a lot of your projects... those counters though will guaranteed get lost LOL, but that's okay, there's apps for that. Hooks tend to be personal, different people have different grip styles (i.e. pen vs knife hold) so finding the perfect hook might take time. For me, Prym hooks have been a lifesaver. Dye lots from places like Temu will always be a crapshoot but when you order from more well known names when they pack them they tend to match up the dye lots a little better. The diaper bag is a good size for small projects on the go. And now that you're crocheting there are plenty of patterns online where you can make the perfect bag for you. 7:13 I recommend metal darning/tapestry needles, I had the same plastic ones and I bent them because they didn't fit through my smaller stitches. Hopefully this helps!!
As a crocheter for 50 plus years, the inly advice I can give is learn the basics 1st. Everyone wants to make perfect plushies immediately. It will not happen. Use your acrylic to make swatches and start with chains until they are consistent in tension l, then learn sc, swatch then ymtil the tension is consistent and so forth until you learn the treble. Then shapes and increase/decrease. In the long run, it's the best way. Sadly, so many start off with a business and then get disappointed in not selling their items and customers questioning pricing. If you want a life long hobby or skill for a side hustle take your time and learn it right. Good luck on your journey ❤

Crochet is such a relaxing hobby and sometimes can become an obsession. There are a lot of rabbit holes in crochet such as amigurumi and even to what I teach, Tunisian. Just be ware that crochet can become addicting.
I lol'd at aerodynamic crochet hooks. I know you meant ergonomic but all I could think was, "Finally something that will help me crochet faster!" You should try to make a little beanie with that one skein of rainbow that you have. I find that small projects like that are really encouraging when you finish them, especially as a beginner, and I just know it would work up so cute!

I've been crocheting since dinosaurs roamed the earth 😂 your enthusiasm is infectious and made me smile. It's such a great hobby, truly, and it's a gateway to lots of other yarn crafts. I started with crochet and subsequently learned to knit, spin, do a little weaving, etc. But I keep coming back to crochet. It will be fun for you to look back on this video in years to come and see what you ended up up using and loving and what didn't make the cut. Hello, when I started crocheting they didn’t have all those accessories. For scissors I went to the Dollar Tree in the crafting yarn. For stitch markers I use colored paper clips. Try Dollar Tree yarn and they have a clear plastic bag that’s perfect for when you’re carrying your supplies and they have a crochet. They yarn they carry is bye Premier. That’s the yarn you should learn to crochet called worsted weight. Good luck.
The tension rings look more like bobbin savers. They are used around your sewing machine bobbin to keep the tread from unraveling. Your excitement is so fun to watch.
oh god why did i get them then!! 😂😭 so funny because i ordered actual metal yarn rings and do not use the ones in this video. they are so bulky and unnatural feeling lol

I knit (never quite wrapped my brain around crochet, but want to soon), and those are usually a really quick and useful project. :)

The rainbow yarn could make a nice granny square bandana or any number of other things. If it is acrylic i might not make a bandana but if it is cotton i would.
as someone who studies supply chain, manufacturing, the industry and all in between, and works as a machinist / process engineer (AND is A CROCHETER!!) , my advice is to try not to shop on temu, shop as local as you can, box stores and local shops will always have better quality and practices
all hooks are not the same when it comes to measurements. i only mention it because you got several kinds. I think someone else mentioned that you will find which ones work for you but i had to get a hook measurer also on temu so i can measure the hook dimensions and keep the project the same size.
