- The Canon EOS 70D is a legend when it comes to both great still picture ability, as well as excellent video capability. This video details my top 3 must have lenses that will maximize the 70D 20MP DSLR Camera Body:
#1: Canon 10-18MM Lens amzn.to/4aEM6M8
#2: Canon 18-135MM STM Lens: amzn.to/3TK2Zz5
#3: Canon 70-300MM Nano II (Newer version): amzn.to/3TEubPG
The Canon 85mm fixed lenses that creates excellent blur/bokeh can be found here: amzn.to/47frSFW
Adding any or all of the above lenses will create so many opportunities for incredible photos. If you're on a budget, pick the one that you think you'd use the most. I find that the 10-18mm and 18-135mm get the most use when I am out and about using the 70D for vlogging or every-day street photography. If you are a wildlife/sports shooter, then the 70-300mm is my favorite, and would be a logical pick as it's super sharp, and coupled with the 70D's excellent autofocus creates some excellent still images. As a bonus, these lenses will work with any Canon EF-S Mount body like the 30D, 40D, 50D, 60D, 80D, 90D, T1i T2i T3i T4i T5i T6i T6 T7 T8 + many more.

I have a 70 D and I go with the Sigma 17-50 2.8, EFS 55-250 IS STM, and the 70-300 IS USM. The 18-35 IS STM cannot compete with the first two lenses mentioned on image quality factor and I don't even think about using it.
Thank you, great video. I do have a 70D and with the info in the video I will get better photos.
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching, and hope you get some great shots with your 70D!
Got both, the 70D and ADD 😅
"GREAT VIDEO".I have the 70D and am using the canon 50 1.8, / 10-18, / 18-135 and a sigma 17-50 2.8 and a 70-200 2.8 along with a sigma 2X doubler making it a 140-400 5.6. I am very happy still using this set up in 2024...
Vincent, that sounds like a really killer setup! And you’ve got all your optical ranges covered with 5 lenses-nice!
I have a 6D, 5D mk2, an EOS-M and a 70D. I still regret selling my 7D. I like the first generation of cameraes that come up with something new. I feel like the producers put more into those that the follow ups. The EOS-M is built like a tank. :D I use the 6D and 5D in the studio. But the camera I always have with me is the 70D with a Sigma Art (or 24-105mm f/4 DG OS HSM, the full title), a HSS/TTL-compatible flash, and a small LED video ligth. :)
Nice! that's a list of some of Canon's greatest cameras. I love the Sigma ART line too, 18-35mm, 24-105mm, etc great walk around shooting lenses with excellent optical performance.
@@pricklypearcamera And I love the 100 f2,8 macro usm, and the 85 F1,4. Cheap, but great glass. And the 50 1,4. I still kiss the shuttersound on the 7D. It was special. :)
manifesting for new camera im still using nikon d60
Great video. I have a Canon 70D. I was wondering your best choice of lens for a dance video?
Hello, I’m BRAND new to photography and was gifted a 70d. I’m going to Italy for a wedding soon and want to know what’s the best affordable lense for travel. Thanks!
Sounds like a super fun trip! In terms of wide angle and really getting you and the entire party into pictures OR for landscapes/vistas I really like the 10-18mm:

At 18MM on this 70D body, it's pretty close to what the human eye sees.
@@pricklypearcamera thanks for your quick response! Will this work for wedding photos as well as scenery? I was thinking of the 85mm 1.8 since everyone raves about it
@@BankEdits The 85mm or 50MM 1.4 would be superb options for actual wedding photography (portraits, etc), 85mm you would have to be quite a bit further back for shooting than a 50mm for example. Both produce great bokeh.
I have 3 18-55 and 2 of the bigger ones. Darn forgot the numbers on them lol.
Great video thanks
No problem! 👍
Thanks for the vid. Do you have any experience using the 70D with a trinocular microscope?
No problem! Sorry, I don't have any experience with the 70d and a trinocular microscope...
HELLO Could You tell.me is canon 70D resists extra low temperature?
Hi! Canon shows an operating temp range of:
0°C - 40°C / 32°F - 104°F
How about the Sigma 150-600 or any of Canons older primes?
So little time, so many lenses! :) :) The Sigma 150-600 is a great telephoto option! I also love shooting a variety of both wide angle and other fixed lenses like the Canon 35mm F2, 50MM F4, 85MM, and the 100MM Macro lens is really fun to shoot with too!
Great video, I have a similar range of lenses for my 70D... EFS 18-135 IS STM as the main workhorse, EF 50mm F1.8 for people and pets, and a 70-300mm (but in Tamron)
Very nice!
Which lens would work best for doing weddings as a beginner with a canon eos 70D
If you are looking for a single lens for weddings, I would recommend the 18-135mm STM, it allows for a variety of shots from portrait to mid range, and is really quite sharp:

I have the 18 to 135 very good for my 70D camera..right now my camera not recognizing it..what to do?
Hmmm, could be a connection issue. There are gold colored contact points that allow the lens to interact with the body. Sometimes those connections can get dirt/etc on and will affect the connection. Occasionally, this has been worn off over time and will always show "not recognized". I have watched a few videos on how to attempt to fix, but haven't been to successful myself.
I currently own a Canon 70d and 80d cameras, but I also recently acquired a 10-year-old Canon Cinema C100 Mark II that I absolutely love. I used the Canon 70d for an experimental indie film a few years ago and still using the same lenses of Canoon 70d and 80d. Here is the link to that project: th-cam.com/video/RDaxnhgB28c/w-d-xo.html"th-cam.com/video/RDaxnhgB28c/w-d-xo.html
I just watched the first 15 minutes- really really awesome film, very emotional! Incredible you shot that with the 70D, great work!
Thanks so much! Although I'm not a professional video filmmaker, I'm trying to learn more about it. Currently, I'm practicing with the Canon Cinema 100 Mark II. Once again, thank you for your time.@@pricklypearcamera
