      My favorite lens is the 135mm f 2.8 soft focus. On an APS-C with the crop factor it's fast, focal length (APS-C) of 216mm and the soft focus settings are creative. This is the original or older lens Canon makes so priced very reasonable depending on shape used.

    My collection for the 90D:
    EF 24-70mm F4L IS - super sharp zoom covers all common focal lengths plus has a macro capability at 70mm, reasonable weight. Perfect video.
    EF 50mm F1.4L - Portraits, awesome bokeh
    EF-S 35mm Macro - Very sharp, low weight, with built in light
    EF 24mm F2.8 IS - might replace with the F1.4, but this lens is perfectly outdoor low weight general use IS lens. Good for both stills and video.
    I've ordered a used EF 100mm F2.8L Macro.
    Still trying to decide on an wide angle....sigma 18-35 seems nice, but 3rd party, heavy, and might need calibration. A million choices here, including the Canon 16-35.

    • @justintan7601
      @justintan7601  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Awesome collection man! I'm actually looking at the 50mm f1.4 now, looks amazing, how's your experience using it? However, I do have some inner debate on getting the sigma 30mm f1.4 over it 😅 the EF 100mm f2.8L Macro is amazing! Wonderful choice!

    • @engineeringVirtue

      @@justintan7601 my best recent pics on 90d are with the 50mm f1.4, like all f1.4 focusing can be hit or miss, but I can't blame any slowness on the lens....although, I do wish canon released nano usm 50mm, also I suspect 32mp is most you can push the older 50mm design...byt, it's great for me, makes me want the 24mm f1.4 too...

      @@engineeringVirtue You'd have to share your pictures with me man! I'd love to see them really. 😀😀😀Also, I understand the struggles that you're having with the autofocus because of the f1.4, even f1.8 is acting up like this sometimes. If they have 50mm on nano USM that would probably cost a fortune 😅If I were you, I would probably sell the 24mm f2.8 IS USM for the 24mm f1.4L, the lens quality, and the coating and the UD feature alone is worth the money in my opinion. 😆😆

    In my opinion, Canon EF S 17-55 f /2.8 is the best wide angle lens for APSC cameras. It is extremely sharp and of very good quality. It has IS and ring USM which causes the lens to focus instantaneously. It performs equally well in low light conditions.

    • @justintan7601
      @justintan7601  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      At some point, I wouldn't say no to this! But still, f1.8 still has a significant difference over f2.8. Especially in low light conditions. However, this is a personal choice, preference and also budget. XD

    I am a beginner, but I bought a Canon T7i and started using a 200mm f/2.8 for outdoor sports. I like the images I have taken, although I wish I could afford a 70-200 mm f/2.8 IS III. I don't even have a computer yet for editing, but I do have fun.

    • @justintan7601
      @justintan7601  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is good! 200mm f2.8 is good enough but I understand what you're saying, having 79 - 200 would offers greater flexibility if your shooting a run and gun sports scene. Prime lens means you'd would have to adjust your distant by you moving as well. A bit more tiring but sometimes we are limited by where we can stand and where we can be. Although having that IS is definitely helping with the stabilization 😀

Cause the aperture is large enough to be used indoor and the lens is wide enough as well to "kinda" vlog a little bit, given that you're not holding your camera while walking cause it's going to be quite near to your face actually. But if there's sale going on then check out the Sigma 10-20mm f3.5 EX DC HSM as well maybe grab them as a bundle. With these two lenses, you are basically complete unless you wanna go telephoto haha. Two types of lens I would recommend, first would be Sigma 70-300 f4 DG APO Macro. You can go really far with this, or a super wide angle lens 10-20mm from canon or sigma. They both works great but again, it all comes down to what you're trying to achieve. • @justintan7601
      @justintan7601  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for asking the question! First of all you might want to consider the size of your room. You'd have to make sure that your room is big enough so that you can fit in front of your camera comfortably without looking too zoomed in. Cause 30mm on APS-C is somewhere around 50mm (x1.6). Plus at some point you might want to consider the fact that you might someday do some vlogging style TH-cam videos where you'll be holding your camera and talk and 50mm is way too long of a focal length to do that. You'll be looking too close in your videos. If that TH-cam is where you will use your camera for I would suggest saving up to get the 18-35 instead. Go for flexibility buddy! I hope that helps 😊
