One of my favourite places in the world - so many happy childhood holidays. Great to see everything again in your video. Haven’t visited for a long time and must go!
03:02 Ah The Unicorn, you may have missed the small plaque on the wall, this pub was where C.S. Lewis and J. R. R. Tolkien used to meet for a few drinks. The Priory Church and the grounds around it with the gas-powered street lights were an influence on Lewis for his book The Lion, The Witch & The Wardrobe.
@@walkwonderful3272 it's local folklore. They used to meet in the pub, and walk the hills. Tolkien was said to be inspired by the hills for his writing, definitely the creation of "The White Mountains of Gondor", from the Lord of the Rings. For Lewis, it was one winter's night stroll back in the snow from the Unicorn pub, that a signal gas light inspired Lewis and the description of the Narnian wood - but Durham Uni also make this claim...
Great video - especially the paragliders. Whenever I walk the Malverns I usually end up at the Wyche Inn - the highest pub in Worcestershire - for a nice cold pint of cider and a good meal.
It's my pleasure. I've uploaded a few more you might like. Cleve hill near Cheltenham, and Peak District too. If you have any suggestions, let me know, I'm always keen to hear about other people's walks. - Ian
Thanks. Yeah I wasn't sure where British camp was and we were getting a bit tired so I wasn't sure we would go that far. What is pronounced "witch". I can't remember what I said 🤣
Look at how flat the earth is. Anyway where ur standing I saw a ghost at that monument. About 20 years ago. A fog suddenly came down. It was night time. And I figure of a shadow figure was in the fog. Freaked me out
I think that's what makes the malverns so interesting. That you can see for so far. Probably 4 counties. I wouldn't want to walk around there at night time. I would be freaked out too :)
I would like to follow your route. There are many council house locations, please can you give the address and postcode so i know the route is. Thank you
I walked End to End with my Dad i belive it was something like 23Km on a Good day you can see Heroford. Its wuite funny people saying how beautiful Malvern is and i dont think its that great 😂
I know what you mean. The malvern hills aren't that big. Sure, the brecon beacons nearby are bigger, but I think its because of the views. It's the tallest hill in what is pretty flat around. So you can see so far. Also it's not a massively tough climb to get the views as a payoff. I think that's what makes the malverns so popular. That's why I'll be back again.
