    I'm from New Zealand, and this is my fourth visit to the U.K. I am still delighted by the villages and towns to be discovered. Great Malvern is probably my favourite English town so far.

    Great Malvern station is so ornate Patrick with the decorative columns on the platforms and proper clocks instead of digital. The town has an array of the most beautiful buildings to be seen in Britain. The hillside in the background adds charm to the place, and I can understand why you stayed and enjoyed the place for a week. The Christmas lights looked so splendid on the dark nights. A fascinating and most enjoyable film, Patrick. Thank you.

      The town of Malvern is lovely especially due to its setting below the hills. It was definitely worth capturing the lights too. Thanks Ffranc for watching 👍

    Well Patrick another great walk and video. Love the rail station, that Beeching has a lot to answer for. Buzzards, more gas lamps and that post box.......all brilliant...... Thanks for sharing this and your other videos.

    Credit where credit's due, I think that was one of your best videos to date Pat, and I have watched most of them! Love the gaslamps. Reminds me of the time of my teens in the 60s when we were heading back to Sheffield with my girl - later my long time wife - from a Peak district walk and down the Grindleford station approach and (very naughtily) pulling the suspended handles on the lamps to turn them all on in the dusk. I suspect from the credits this was "all your own work" and very professional it is!

      Many thanks Richard! Those gas lamps are fab aren't they. The work on these films is indeed all my own. Thanks again for your kind comments and for watching :)

    Aaah, Patrick you did the most superb job on this one. The shots, the stories and the smiles. I've never seen a town afforded so many. You obviously enjoyed this one and hey an ale or two. I was pleased to see the gas lamps feature. I agree they are lovely. To think there were 1200 once. Can you imagine the ambience of the town back in the day. Beautiful. Well, thanks Patrick this has been a great series. One more to go. I look forward to it. All the best as always. Mark

      @solitaryrambler  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks so much Mark. It was nice doing this one just after Christmas to capture some of the Christmas lights as well as those amazing gas lamps of course. Yeah 1200 was incredible wasn't it. So glad they've gone to the trouble of preserving what they can of them. The ambience of the town in those early days makes me think of a page from a Dicken's story, although it felt a bit like that when I was here filming this in the night time. Glad you've been enjoying the series Mark and thanks for joining me along the way. All the best. Cheers, Patrick :)

      @@solitaryrambler I bet it was - in fact I could see how nice Patrick. Yeah Malvern has retained something Dickensian. Hey Paul and I dossed on that station one night after a party. Good memories. I look forward to the last one. Peace!

      Yep just one more to go now Mark. So you and Paul spent a night on the station, I can imagine that would have been absolutely fab. Peace to you my friend :)

    Thanks Patrick for the tour around Gray Malvern and Link Common. Looking forward to your final episode on the Malvern Hills and finding out what’s at the top of those steps. Followed your episodes on the Yorkshire Dales and visited the Bainbridge, Askrigg and Hawes area after 2 months of radiation for cancer.
    Another thank you for pointing me in the direction of the Wye Explorer as I have been following the Wye Valley trail. Hope to do this in the Fall and possibly the Malvern area in Fall.

      Thank you for your nice comments Paul, hope you enjoy the final film in the Malvern Hills once I've uploaded it. Glad you've followed my walks in the Yorkshire Dales, that particular one in Wensleydale was filmed nearly 6 years ago now. Glad you've found Mark's great channel Wye Explorer, that's definitely worth following. All the best to you. Cheers, Patrick :)

      Hi I'm from Malvern and at the top of those stairs is at.annes well a place to stop for water before you make your way up to the top for the beautiful views over worcestershire the one way and Hereford/Wales the other way ...I have to say it's definitely worth a visit it takes you away from city life and brings you back to nature

    That was fabulous Patrick,Im loving this series,I stopped up to watch it,so glad you decided to make six films and not five,the town deserves a film of its own its really nice and the gas lamps at the end were lovely,and of course it gives us one more to look forward to,will look forward to that as always,Im guessing from the trailer that I watched loads of times that the weather changed as I don't recall yet the part from it where you're at the pillar and cant see a thing,so much information in this that I'll give it another watch,which I always do,thanks again Patrick that was a really good watch,and as always it was beautifully paced,with superb presentation,editing,music and research,all the best,
    Pete.

    • @solitaryrambler
      @solitaryrambler  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Pete. Like I more-or-less mentioned in this film, the town deserves a whole film to itself as there is much to see. I just love those gas lamps, that's what I always associate with Malvern. Well I won't reveal anything about the last film, but sections of it are seen in the trailer. As always Pete, thank you so much for your kind comments and for watching. Cheers, Patrick :)

    I have only reached 1.17 and have already seen enough to have deduced non Molvenites ought to flee. Goodness did you see that supposed grade 2 listed 1860s Brunellian Station? A museum piece. We have older in our own museum City. But they are not as old as out pre Dickens' cobbled streets.
