  • Join me in restoring these MCM side tables. I almost ruined these in the process but this just goes to show that we all make mistakes and luckily this one was fixable. I have definitely learned my lesson on this one and hopefully this helps some of you avoid making the same mistake. Thanks for joining me in this furniture flip! Let me know in the comments below what you think, and I'll see you in the next video!!

The tables are beautiful. You are so talented and I love seeing Malino in the videos. Can’t wait to see him when you come to visit.

Tough lesson to learn, but as you said, never again. Also, glad you realized that when you are finishing, Tung Oil works best when it is rubbed in thin layers. Dampen a cloth with it, wipe on and then wipe it all back off until the wiping cloth comes off clean. Pouring it on and letting it pool will result in variations in the finish thickness and thus, the look of the finish. Also, by only dampening a rag and wiping it on, it dries quicker when the layer is thinner, allowing you to do 2-3 layers in a single day.

Thanks for the tip! I was noticing how fast it was drying when I was doing light coats it was nice to be able to do more within one day for sure

Magnificent results, those tables have to be smoother than a baby's bottom after all the sanding, rubbing and buffing. I always get a panicky feeling when doing a natural wood finish, that is where I have made a lot of mistakes too, much harder to correct, but at least it's not on video (ha ha!)

Haha yes they are so smooth now! Refining wood piece can be tricky!

I absolutely love how the end tables turned out! Your perseverance is truly incredible, and I'm so glad you didn't give up on this project. It really paid off. Also, your dog is beautiful and so well-behaved-it was great to see them in the video. Thanks for sharing your incredible talent with us!

I am so sorry this “glitch-in-the-process” happened to you! But, so proud of the way you regrouped, and figured out how to solve the problem! Love your determination & devotion to your craft! As a result, these tables that are so outstanding in themselves, turned out looking like pieces of art! I’m not kidding, at one point when looking at the finished/staged tables, the camera caught the grain in the wood & I gasped/my breath caught! It truly was stunning! The tables are stunning! So, thank you for finishing them! Someone will be so happy to have them in their home! (If I lived closer, if they weren’t spoken for, I’d purchase them in a heartbeat!) And, just so you know, this video with the mistake included, is such an inspiration to those of us who want to learn from you! If I had tried this on my own, I admit I’d probably have left them unfinished forever, if this had happened. You cured me! I am inspired by your never-give-up, never-give-in attitude! And, your hard work & willingness to give so much time to create these beauties astounds me!
And, a note to the person concerned about your pup…I’ve known that dog since he was weeks old. I also know all the classes, types & hours of training he’s received! I also know his behavior in just about any known situation! He’s completely reliable & safe! I only know one other malinois who has had (a little) more training & obedience/work ability, and he’s a service dog for a physically disabled senior citizen! The concern is misplaced! And, he never left the yard! He’s in very capable/responsible hands with the mom/owner he has!

Yes, we had birds make a nest in our shop. We could hear the babies crying for food. They r gone now. The babies learned to fly all they r off on their own. We will be plugging up the hole they got in from. Love all your videos. You r talented and mature enough to gather your thoughts and going from there. So yes, you taught us a lot. Beautiful results from your hard work.

If it helps, I wouldn't have thought of cleaning them after inlet them bake in the sun. I would've just got flustered and resanded everything. Great job

Where did you see an out of control dog? I’m guessing you meant to leave your comment on a different video and just got confused because in no way could you possibly be speaking of the dog in this video.

Sorry, I was watching the refurbishment of the end tables. I was not looking for out of control dogs. I have heard back and forth opinions of tung oil. It looks great, but I didn't realize that the sun would affect it. Thank you for your comment concerning out of control dogs. If I see one on this video, I will surly comment.

I saw a very good dog with the caring owner within reach! What out of control dog? Always has to be one person attacking, don’t let the negative get to you Sammy!
