Wow! You really made that piece sing. So beautiful. Using the router on the edge was really smart. 💚
Wonderful job, just beautiful
Thank you for not painting this! I see so many beautiful antique pieces painted for flipping and it breaks my heart 💚 looks beautiful!
I would like to flip pieces, if that the right word. But my mother is a lover of antiques. I can’t imagine painting them. She has restored antiques all over her home.
Full restoration? No chalk paint?? I love to see it! You learn so much when you tackle a piece like this. You really did a fabulous job! 🎉
Finally someone who really loves repairing and bringing a beautiful piece of furniture to life again. You are a sweetheart ,!
Glad to see someone doing these type of videos that actually seems to have an appreciation for the look of the original wood 💚
I agree!! I cant stand to see beautiful pieces painted white!
THIS! As the grandchild of a woodworker, it hurts my soul to see beautiful wood furniture painted, especially antiques.
My sentiments exactly!!!
I always feel as though the old pieces are so sad and they don’t want to go to the trash. You saved this one and it makes me so happy. It’s beautiful!! ❤❤
I feel the same way !
❤ That’s exactly how I felt too! The poor dresser just seemed sad. It’s gorgeous now though!
💚 What a beautiful job you did. The dresser is gorgeous now! 😍
They're are also better made
So true. Vibes of Toy Story or The Velveteen Rabbit.
I would have said, that poor chest has had it's day but you you've done such a fabulous job on it. Thank you for saving this wonderful piece and showing it so much love.
Wow, this is beautiful. As you mentioned when stripping, the wood was very delicate. And a previous owner loved this piece so much that they gorilla glued the leg together, put in dividers, and put new handles on it. They loved it, and you saved it so a new owner can love and cherish it some more. What a wonderful story.
Girl you have the patience of a saint!
Your gift of "bringing life back" into a piece is SO ENCOURAGING & EDUCATIONAL! Thanks
Thank you so much 😊
❤
💚 I just watched it all over again. I'm still astounded at the drastic change! Such gorgeous wood! That was a HUGE amount of work!
Thanks you so much ☺️💚
It's always a joy to see a broken piece of furniture, that's been though so much ,when someone takes the time & effort to bring it back ,to the vintage look hidden 4 so long, amazing 👏
This piece was done with care and consideration. Thank you for honoring it's integrity. 👏👏👏👏🌟🌟🌟🌟
Thank you for watching
💚 What a beauty this dresser is now!! Thank you sooo very much for not only saving her from the landfill, but for giving her a new beautiful life with a new key too!! She's looks soo pretty now!!!💚
It was my pleasure thank you so much for watching 😊
These gouges on the front edge add character. That piece just happens to have a LOT of character. Can’t wait to see the end
💚
That router bit choice couldn’t have been any better!! What a gorgeous piece after it was restored!! Instant follow!! 💚
I have finished old furniture that most people would thrown away. I love your videos like you I appreciate old furniture and real wood
It’s hard to find real wood furniture! These pieces deserve people who know how to restore them to their former glory. Bravo💚
I *LOVE* it when artists embrace the natural wood and make it glow! Well done ❤
Thanks 😊
💚💚💚
💚💚💚 The dresser turned out amazing. If I hadn't see the before I would never have believed it was the same piece.
GORGEOUS! That’s fantastic that you were able to find a key to make the lock work again! It’s the icing on the cake 💚 👏🏼🙌
Just to let you know: That dresser was made from SOLID MAHOGANY ! You literally
CANNOT GET THAT ANYMORE!
You did a wonderful job on it, and your use of the sawdust to make the filler was absolutely spot on!
Excellent work.
Awe thank you 😊
💚
Stunning!
So absolutely gorgeous... That routered edge is amazing and looks original! 💚
Thanks it’s one of my favorite parts 💚
💚
Great video!! Beautiful piece
Kudos for giggling when sanding those teeny tiny details. Thank you for showing me some tricks. We have been restoring all the trim in our 100 year old house plus furniture. Really nice job. 💚
The wood grain that you revealed is absolutely stunning! 💚 You gave this piece so much life!
💚💚💚 you gave this piece EXACTLY what it needed. It's always a blessing to find new furniture restoration TH-camrs with real talent like yours!
💚 wow thanks 😊
💚💚💚
Thank you so much. I just inherited the old sewing machine and solid wood cabinet that I learned to sew on over 60 years ago. I have a strong emotional attachment to this piece of furniture and after watching your excellent video, I feel motivated to attempt to restore it. Clearly, you are a master craftsmen who honors the original intent of the maker and respects the quality of the wood. Well done!
Ooh fun!!
I absolutely love old sewing machines. Have a small collection myself. Good luck with your project. Just take it one step at a time enjoy the process and you’ll get there.
My great grandson is four years old he gave you a thumbs up, loved it
Thanks for the visit
💚 Impressive restoration! Well done! I love working on seemingly hopeless pieces and watching my client’s reaction when they see the reveal of their beloved and decrepit piece. 😊
💚 Your video was quite instructive and the rich detail justified its length. I went back over many elements of your project as they answered untold number of questions for a novice. It was encouraging to see you share the difficulties with the soda-balsting as fear of failure has stopped me from trying new things before. Thank you and very well done!
Glad it was helpful!
Wow. It looks like an heirloom that someone lovingly took care of, when you finished. It is beautiful. I especially love that you restored the locks. Gorgeous.
Wow! You literally transformed that ugly duckling to a beautiful, glowing swan! And I love the rounded edging that you did on the top edges…well done. 🤗An absolutely spectacular transformation. 💚
I have a love for old well made pieces of wood furniture and so admire the job you did with this piece. It is just beautiful. The hand sanding is difficult, but you did a lovely job. Over the years, I refinished many pieces, but now live in a small house with no work space, so I do enjoy seeing that there are still people who will go the extra mile to save these gems. Thanks so much for sharing.
You gained a new subscriber. Wow, LOVE your work ! The dresser turned out absolutely gorgeous. Thank you for restoring this beautiful piece. Looking forward to more videos from you.
Thanks for subbing!
💚 HOW COULD YOU NOT WATCH TO THE END! You worked MAGIC on this piece! WOW 🏆
💚 I love seeing neglected stuff turn out this gorgeous.
💚 I have a piece that belonged to my grandfather that needs some work. I truly appreciate experienced refinishers sharing their projects!
Wonderful to see real enthusiasm and talent for restoration work in real wood. The finish is amazing and the moulding which you'fixed' the mutilation on the front actually enhances the beauty of the finished piece. Congratulations on a fantastic job!
Beautiful piece from start to finish..love the new drawer pulls and the lock and key replacement..the stain made the piece rich...thank you so much for not painting it!
Melanie... You mentioned being on call in your video. I'm a nurse and I've also been looking for a way to keep myself out of the doldrums when I am on call. This is the best medicine I know.🎉❤😊
Absolutely!
Back in the 70's I had no $$, but plenty of time. All types of wood were "in style" - I loved anything older, with interesting finishes. I knew nothing, but had a blast doing projects. Over the years I've lost a lot and miss a few. REALLY enjoy seeing young woman getting into this type of thing & using POWER TOOLS! Great job❤😊 Can't find GREEN HEART EMOJI, but of course I watched it ALL!!
You did an amazing job! I love that you didn’t pass this beauty up because it wasn’t paint ready. Love it so much and your videos ❤
Impressed with your vision of restoring an old piece and giving it a new life! Bravo! 😊
I agree about the vintage tools.
I have a collection of vintage sewing machines that make *such* lovely stitches, and that I can maintain myself. ❤
You are speaking my language vintage sewing machines are my jam! I sew everything on my featherweight or my treadle.
@@coloredcaboosecreations Featherweight!? *drool*
That particular creature has so far eluded me. Love them!
💚First of your videos for me…NOT my last. This just took my breath away🥰
Wow, thank you
Absolutely beautiful! Love that top edge you did and so happy you had the lock fixed and found a key to fit. Makes a world of difference to have that key! Great job!
I'm blown away by what you did with this piece of furniture 💚. It is beautiful!
💚
Oh my gooooosh! I feel like I just got out of wood restoration class. Thank you so much for sharing all of your tips and techniques. I have three large pieces to refinish and I don't have a large work area. I'm upstairs with a small balcony, but I will make it work. My true love is wood with all its surprises and stories. You are very skilled.
All I can say is 'WOW' gorgeous
Wow! Night and day difference! You saved that beautiful old dresser and I’m sure it will be loved for a very long time!! 💚
You did a beautiful job! It’s so nice to see someone who does more than just blow paint on everything!❤
😂
💚
Oh wow! Congratulations on the amount of work you put into this project, and the beautiful outcome you achieved.💚💚💚
Thank you so much!
I admire a woman who can use a router. Your expertise was a joy to watch. Love your respect for this piece of furniture.
Thank you so much for watching. My little trim router is one of my favorite tools .
I am stunned at how beautiful and rich it turned out. I literally had a visceral reaction when I saw the final shot. What a lucky lady she was, to go home with you!😉
Its unf*@ingbelieveable 💚💚 💚😍
Ha ha thanks 😊 💚💚💚
💚WOW!💚
You did an Absolutely Amazing job on this piece of Furniture!!!
Beautiful work!!! 🙂
What a labor of love for the authentic beauty of this piece!!! 💚
💚OMG! I'm so impressed with your talent, dedication and hard work to rescue that sad piece of furniture. You are AMAZING!
Pure magic. That piece was worth all the time.💚
💚
Well done young lady 💚 It was my pleasure to watch your transformation of this old piece. Beautiful job. 🤩
💚 thank you so much for watching
A work of art…absolutely beautiful…worth the time. All furniture should be left natural. Koodos to you and all your dedicated hard work, ❤
Wonderful job. Solid wood furniture should last forever.
💚 The wood looked so wholesome and cared-for when you had finished. Fabulous!
I love how you restore pieces that are worth restoring! If they are not, you don't just get creative, but painstakingly do all the steps instead of slapping paint like I see others do. You have an intelligent eye!
I really appreciate that thank you ☺️
"Escutcheon"... that little brass piece protecting the keyhole.
💚
Love the new life you gave that sad piece and I LOVE that you used the Odie's oil! Beautiful!
That looks amazing! The wood grain is stunning!💚
That grain glow was the best surprise! Thank you so much for watching 😊💚
Love it! 💚 Thanks to you and a couple of other restorers on YT, I have gotten up the nerve to refinish 4 pieces in my home. They are all solid wood (thank you Lord) and all the years of cats and moving, they need an overhaul. I'm doing one piece using the cerusing method and the rest will be just sanding, repairs and staining.
You guys gave me the confidence and the knowledge, I hope I make you proud.
You always do such lovely work. God has blessed you with a beautiful gift of not just wood restoration but an eye for making it stand out in glory.
Thanks again.
Awe this makes my heart 💚happy. Yes go for it you can do it and if you get stuck please reach out. my self and many of my restoration friends would be happy to help. I’ll tell you what, when you’re finished I will gladly post your before and after pics on my Facebook page 😉
Thank you for watching.
I didn't mind that video was long. I was really intrigued so I stayed with you. What an amazing job you did. Thank you.💚
I'm so glad!
So happy you rescued this dresser. Beautiful
Thanks for respecting this beautiful piece. All that work was definitely worth it!❤
💚
I can only imagine how many hours it took you to clean and sand this piece. Turned out amazing!💚
Took a while but I didn’t keep track
It’s good stress relief lol.
Thank you so much for watching 💚
Girl stop! You’re the best one I’ve come across for refurbishing furniture - thank you for sharing 🫶🏻💯
Wow, thank you!
💚 I'm a beginner flipper and this makes me so hopeful for one of my first projects. My parents have these solid wood side tables from my childhood they didn't want anymore so they left it OUTSIDE FOR YEARS IN THE BURN PILE. 😭 THATS SOLID WOOD FURNITURE
That sounds like an awesome challenge don’t forget to take lots of before pictures! Good luck
Wow. That piece turned out absolutely stunning. You did a fantastic job and I’m blown away with how you fixed the top. That was brilliant. 💚
Awe thanks Sibylle ☺️💚
Unrecognizable! 💚💚 Never in a million years would I have thot it could turn out this gorgeous! I thot $35 was way too much to pay, but now look at it. The drawer pulls are perfect. I'd like to request longer "after" shots, like the top edges (the routing was a brilliant idea, and looks original), pulling the drawers out, showing more close-ups. So beautiful! 💚
*Agreed...after all of that work, the reveal WAS TOO SHORT and TOO FAST. I left disappointed. REVEL in your accomplishment❣️💚*
*Addendum...this was the 1st video of yours I ever watched. Just stumbled upon this video scrolling on TH-cam and decided to watch it because I LIKE WOOD GRAIN and seeing the beauty of wood shining through. 🥰 Chippy paint finishes are abhorrent to me; a trend I truly hope dies soon‼️ I wanted to SAVOR your accomplishment of bringing this shabby piece of furniture that I wouldn't have given the time of day to - and that I believed was WAY OVERPRICED - but I was left wanting. Your attention to detail and problem-solving skills are phenomenal 👏 👏 👏 and the professionalism of you going the extra mile with fixing the lock and getting a working key 🔑 are commendable and are to be applauded❣️💚*
Absolutely beautiful! I love how you worked out until fixing the veneer so it could have the wood look . So pretty.Thank you for sharing
Glad you enjoyed and thank you so much for watching 💚
💚 Glad YOU were doing the work, not me! 😂
What a wonderful result. You did an excellent job in restoring this beautiful piece. Well done.
Absolutely stunning. Another beautiful project done by the talented Melanie from the colored caboose! 💚
Thanks Sandy 💚💚
I need come visit you.
What a terrible mess to begin; what a beauty to end! Wonderful!! 💚
I love that you kept the locks! 💚
Beautifully done! I absolutely love it. I’m glad you didn’t paint it. 💚
💚
Wow! I see furniture like that all the time at Goodwills etc… and I never would’ve thought they could turn out like this. How satisfying to be able to restore a beautiful piece of furniture back to the way it should be 😊💚
💚beautiful! The vintage sander really made a difference. Great job on the decorative router edge to remove the deep gouges. You took great time and elbow grease to make this a valuable piece. Good job!
Thanks so much! 😊
💚
I'm entering the staining phase (finally!) on a 1960's art deco dresser we got on marketplace for our bedroom. Your video really resonated with me, and just made me realize all the sanding I've been doing is about to pay off. Thanks for the well put together, and wonderfully instructional video. ☕🙏
Right on for sticking through it your hard work will pay off!
Well, this video got you a new subscriber! 💚 This is absolutely gorgeous! The router bit you used on the top was genius! It looked like it should always have been there. Oh, and Odie’s Oil has become my favorite finish. It smells good, you don’t have to wear gloves and it dries to a durable finish!
Welcome aboard new subie!
Odies oil is great stuff 💚💚
💚You have such a fun variety of projects you make videos for and I always enjoy them. Your work is meticulous and you are definitely an artist. Thanks for sharing.
No one trick pony here 🐎 lol.
Seriously I just love so many different styles and dabble in a number of forms of restoration woodworking and crafts that you’re definitely going to see a variety from me 😆.
Thank you so much for watching you rock 💚!
💚 Omg this is beautiful!!! It looked so rough at first I thought you’d go for paint. I see a lot of TH-camr reach for the paint on damaged pieces and the woodworker in me screams Noooo!!!! I love wood grain. I think for furniture there’s nothing more beautiful. Thank you for proving once again the life of this furniture is not over. That people can bring out that beauty. I just love this piece. So beautiful.
Thank you so much ☺️.
I am not opposed to painting furniture I think it can absolutely give a second life to pieces that are heavily damaged and or not made of very quality wood. However I would never cover solid mahogany with paint no way. This one was a rare find in my area. Thanks for watching 💚
@@coloredcaboosecreations I’m not against painting just that with wood that beautiful how could you? I saw someone painting over locust wood once and I was almost in tears lol I couldn’t finish the video.
Would you recommend the feed and was in areas of high humidity?
Just beautiful! Who would have thought it could look so amazing! 💖💖💖
Roshawnda thank you so much for being such a wonderful supporter 💚🌺🌸
Beautiful job, Melanie! I did watch the entire video and enjoyed watching the different steps in the restoration. What a signature piece!! 🙂
Wonderful! 🤩 I started as an antique restoration apprentice at my local thrift store, where we save old pieces like this beauty from certain destrction. Seeing you work so skillfully with those tools was a pleasure. So good to see it from despondent to beautiful. I raised my eyebrows at your choice of adding the wheels, that was definitely 'original' haha. Thanks for teaching me about sanding and removing the gunk. I want to learn about that in my workshop too! 💚
You did a fantastic and thorough job, sharing many great tips for my own projects. I could watch this all day.💚
Thank you so much!
Absolutely beautiful! What another labour of love. It's a such beautiful thing to see these items made over to be loved again. Inspirational! Thank you so much.💚💚💚
It’s a pleasure to be able to share these projects with others who truly appreciate them. Thank you for watching Paula 💚
Wow!! Just wow! I just became a new subscriber after watching this amazing transformation. You took it from junky firewood to a beautiful piece of furniture anyone would love to have in their home. I love how you handled the deep gouges and the the gorgeous wood oil finish.
You have a new subscriber! I love what you've done with this beautiful, orphaned piece of furniture...without PAINT! Thank you! Blessings from Texas! 🤠🤠
Great to see the tools and tricks you used to remove the old finishes. Inspired now for my next project!💚
Go for it!
💚.I am amazed at how beautiful the entire piece came out. I can't believe that it was made from the same wood throughout 🤗. Simply beautiful 😍
Beautiful job. It is so lovely to see old pieces saved. 💚
Green Heart!!! That looks amazing! Very impressive to restore a piece of furniture to its original beauty!!!
Just a beautiful transformation. I love that you got the lock fixed.
Thanks Maridel ☺️
What a beautiful job. The wood is gorgeous!
