    I really love that you have great respect for vintage furniture and restore it rather than painting it. I understand that some pieces are so far gone that it’s hard to bring them back to their full glory, but if the piece is truly valuable it should be restored. I don’t feel bad when people paint over mass produced furniture that would end up in a landfill, but truly unique pieces should be brought back to their original state and you are really good at it.

    A really beautiful renovation. I love art deco. I think that the original hardware was bakolite. You do great work and I appreciate you sharing your videos. Also, you have a strict supervisor.🐶

    Lovely job and great choice for the replacement hardware. I’d love to know more about how you choose pieces and how you decide on the approach to restoring them. I guess I mean the thought process you go through. Great work and looking forward to the next video 👍

      Thank you!
      So typically I look for good quality pieces meaning real wood or wood veneer sometimes it’s pressed wood and in that case I paint it all. If it’s natural wood I then look at how damaged it is and go through the process of what I would need to do to repair it in my head to see if it’s doable or worth my time. I really do love restoring furniture so when I find a good one I always try to but sometimes the market doesn’t allow for that.

      Thank you! That sounds really pragmatic and you can tell how passionate you are about doing a good job on each piece. Great work and love your videos 👍👍

    I like that you refinished this piece, that's what it needed! The foam pads on your festool really made quick work of those curves. I bought some similar pads for an inexpensive detail sander that hopefully will reduce hand sanding time. Great info about using two types of stain.

      Yeah those pads really saved me to much time and made it so much easier to restore they are definitely worth it

    The original hardware matched the streamline moderne look of the piece. It turned out very pretty though

    Do you know what kind of wood the front is? It’s so pretty! Thank goodness you passed inspection. Otherwise, you may have had to bribe the inspector with a lot of treats. 🤣😜

    • @DIYWithSammy
      @DIYWithSammy  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      They usually say it’s a wood like mahogany but I’m not for sure on this one.
      And I know right he’s a strict inspector and will take treats to pay him off thank goodness!

    What is the attachment that allows you to hook your orbital sander up to your Rigid shop vac? I cannot figure out what attachment I need. Thank you!

    • @DIYWithSammy
      @DIYWithSammy  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Oh yeah I love that attachment it helps so much! Here is a link to the one I have amzn.to/3xyOzcz
      I got it on amazon but if you look up shop vac adapter they have all different sized and kits so if you measure what you need it for I'm sure you can find one to fit if this one isn't the correct size for your tool.

    Just a quick note: Did you know you actually have 2 orbital sanders? Although the Festool RTS 400 REQ is rectangular it is an orbital sander. It’s confusing and distracting when you refer the sander you use on flat surfaces as an orbital sander as if it was the only orbital sander you have.I hope I am making sense. It’s distracting and I had to backup the video to listen again to see if had missed something. It almost seemed like you weren’t’ sure what label to use for the Festool and I get it, it does not look like a typical orbital sander. You could say it is an orbital sander but for getting into corners and other details since truly that is its strong suit. I hope this is taken with the intent i had of being helpful. I am really enjoying your videos and think you are great at explaining what you are doing and why as well as a sense of humor. Thank you!

      Thank you that is a really good point it could be confusing. I’ll try to be more specific and call them different things I didn’t realize I was doing that lol. Thanks! ☺️
