    Lol, did you guys build an entire Kitchen set just so that you could do throwbacks to the old style videos when you used to just film in Linus's actual Kitchen?
    If so, that is fan-service at it's most indulgent and I LOVE IT.

    I was disappointed at CES that nobody from the big dogs (Corsair, Phanteks etc) made a similar case for normal price. We need sandwich layout ITX cases

      MrDiarukia yeah no kidding. I’ve got a phantek m-itx case which is massively wider than my buddies ATX. Which isn’t too bad if it was only 10% shorter

    • @devilmikey00
      @devilmikey00 6 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      It's simple. Watercooling is ruining everything lol I'm kidding but most case manufacturers try and make every case full water cooling compatible including ITX cases. Which is fine if some cases are geared toward that crowd but I always have to scratch my head at this obsession with including compatibility for the full loop crowd into nearly EVERY case when they are such a small niche market in the full scope of things. That's why you end up with a ton of nearly mid tower sized ITX cases.

      Check out Not From Concentrate's channel on here, he makes the S4 m-ITX case, probably the smallest on the market, but recently he built an 18core, 1080ti system in it

      Steeze God Hey, 8700K + Conductonaut boi here, just a quick warning:
      The IHS is *millimeters* thick. It's pretty thick. Whatever cooler you have, it might not be able to go down that far. I've still got my IHS on, and it's just fine.

    • @NoorquackerInd
      @NoorquackerInd 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      SpicyHotTech Delidding isn't that risky. It's about as risky at throwing a PGA-based CPU in the air.
      I use the Rockit 88 delidder, and it's a breeze. The only risk was me delidding an old Xeon, finding out that the die was soldered to the IHS, and then stupid me cranking it even more, all the way, up until the IHS was severely bent.
      Still works, though, but with absurd temps...
      Edit: I was about to reply to myself warning that if you don't glue it back you _could_ mount it just a millimeter wrong and have the IHS end up slipping and crushing the die without any visible harm, which I did, until I continued reading my own comment and being like "holy frick he also did it on an old Xeon?" and then I read my username

    so there you go; two important lessons learnt from this. 1. Water cooling makes complete sense for limited space. 2. Case manufacturers should make the cases (especially small ones) in such a way that it can be dismantled from any side.

    • @pwnmeisterage
      @pwnmeisterage 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Liquid cooling is not always pure awesome sauce, it has many strengths but it also has drawbacks. It's the only smart cooling approach for a small densely-packed chassis like this one.
      Not a lot of thermal mass in that little AIO loop, it'll saturate easily in warm ambient. But congrats @Linus for actually measuring temps after 2.5 hours of sustained load.

    • @TechnoKid79
      @TechnoKid79 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yea I agree. I personally have never used water cooling because I don't like the idea of liquid near circuits lol. I still use a big regular heat dissipator on my workstation. Its fan is very silent, safe, and reliable...but I am using a midi-case and it just about fits everything. I do have to clean it regularly from dust but, apart from that it's still the best solution if you use a bigger case.

    • @TechnoKid79
      @TechnoKid79 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm using a Gigabyte Ultra Durable motherboard... they are solid and I bought mine in 2012... took it with me everywhere and it's still going strong in 2018. Proper quality these Ultra Durable from Gigabyte. The only problem is that it doesn't have all the drivers for windows 10 so I could actually make the most of the hardware in Windows 7 than on Windows 10; it's actually quite annoying that it had better workflow in 7 than in 10.

    • @pwnmeisterage
      @pwnmeisterage 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've seen one mobo killed by leaks, a DIY loop with stripped (overtightened) fittings.
      A couple AIOs that went bad, but no liquid damage no leaks, seized/failed pumps and thermal shutdown.
      A couple mobos with massive air coolers dangling off their processor sockets ... until they got tipped over.
      I like Supermicro mobos, not huge bling but server tough as TUF and durable as UD, lol.

    • @SpiceCh
      @SpiceCh 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've got a midi-tower so I generally stay off of liquid cooling. Air is quieter (no pump noise) and generally cools to the same or better capacity depending on your cooler.

    Sweeet! I've been using those Asetek 545LC coolers for a few years now. They used to not be available on Asetek's website - only through eBay. The cooler was made for HP's workstations, but contacting the guy at Asetek got it posted for sale on eBay to "test" demand. The InWin 901 could only fit a 92mm liquid cool, which is what brought me to the Asetek 545LC. Great find, both for you and me!

      Intel can't be bothered to put a better-grade TIM under the hood?
      Performance? Shouldn't Intel be interested in evaluating and comparing TIMs?
      Cost? Pennies add up, but can't be a significant issue on retail $$$$ CPUs.
      Longevity? More is better but 3-year CPU warranty is all that's really needed. It's "sealed" in place, too.

    • @ianchroniclesyt
      @ianchroniclesyt 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      John A. I doubt it. The new full house studio they build does not have a kitchen. I'm guessing they filmed in somebody's house. And they chose the kitchen because, well, their "studio" before was a kitchen when they used to work in an "office" house.

    • @JohnA...
      @JohnA... 6 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      That is absolutely their studio. Go back and watch their build logs and they talk about the various rooms in different videos as well. If you bother to look at the background you can tell the fruit is even fake and their spice rack is empty, not to mention some of the pointless props on the corner shelf.

    • @rarecandyguy4268
      @rarecandyguy4268 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      In all honesty - the AiO is the main problem. If you go for a relatively normal to enthusiast build and stick with air cooling (which is fine in my view) the case is a really straight forward one. I had more trouble with regular sized pcs than installing my current dan a4 build.
      I tried an AiO but gave up midway since I had less time. But from what I gathered the difference between an AiO and Air Cooled doesn't seem to make a reasonable difference to say "you have to use the aio" when sticking with a normal build. Keep in mind the aio requires you to modify the case and get rid of some parts.
      Though I will do an AiO in the future since I really want to get it done.

    • @jakegarrett8109
      @jakegarrett8109 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It can't. Even if it turbos to 1800 Mhz, that GPU can only deliver 50-55 fps. For refrence, 2x R9 Fury (about half the price for both) does 55 fps and smoother with less frame dips. I own all of the cards mentioned, the crossfire Fury is the smoothest and most fluid for Crysis 3 at 4k Ultra (AA off).

    • @fgc_ngoni615d9
      @fgc_ngoni615d9 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @jakegarrett8109
      @jakegarrett8109 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      ngonidzashe dzindimu ok, so then nothing can run Crysis (even with AA off). The Fury cards have been a better experience in general, and at half the cost (Nvidia ShadowPlay sucks). The Titan V is only 8% higher in Firestrike tests than the Titan Xp, so I don't think it could run it 60fps either.

    • @jakegarrett8109
      @jakegarrett8109 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @Treversaccount
      @Treversaccount 6 ปีที่แล้ว +22

      Few things here
      1. This is the I9 7980XE - TDP of 165w. Chances are you'll be running the I7-8700 max which is a 95w tdp. The I5-8400 is only a 65 W cpu. They'll be generating MUCH less heat than the 7980XE that was used in this video.
      2. The 93c was from sustained synthetic stress testing on both the CPU and GPU at the same time. So generating the most heat that could possibly be generated. You're not going to get that on general load.
      3.They delidded the I9 and replaced the internal thermal compound with liquid metal, so you wont get these results on a stock 7980XE. Temperatures would likely be much higher. Unfortunately they didn't show temperature results prior to delidding, which makes their tests and temperature results only really useful to others who plan on replacing with liquid metal as well.

    • @Actae0n7
      @Actae0n7 6 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      The CPU won't be stressed like this and reach 92 °C on a regular basis, so yeah, it'll be ok in long term.

      Its barely keeping under shutdown limits. It has 0 room to overclock. Its almost running boiling temps on the CPU as it is, and the GPU is not boosting anywhere near what my Titan runs at stock with Boost. I would cut a big grid cut out around the GPU fan, that should help it out a lot (and lower noise since it won't be sucking like a vacuum cleaner). But then again I have air scoops on the back of my CPU socket (which actually lowers CPU temps about 5-6*c since you are helping cool the CPU from both sides).

I mean, yeah, I guess it's nice to be able to claim you're the smallest case around that can hold full-powered hardware, but I'd rather pick a slightly larger case than deal with this. It looks really pretty, although the missing USB port ruins the front.
