Dyson V15 Detect - What We Love

  • We highlight what we really like about the Dyson V15 Detect cordless vacuum after running it through carpet and hard floor tests. We also test run times, anti-tangle technology, and compare the V15 to the V11. See the Dyson V15 on Amazon: amzn.to/3xrKmBi
    See our written Dyson V15 Review: vacuum-cleaner-advisor.com/Dy...
    In this video review we show what’s in the box of the Dyson V15 Detect cordless vacuum cleaner. We walk through all the tools and discuss the two different cleaner heads - the high torque cleaner head and the laser slim fluffy cleaner head. We also show how to remove the brushrolls from each cleaner head and how to reinstall them.
    We like the laser feature in the laser slim fluffy cleaner head and show how it highlights debris on our hardwood floor. We also discuss how the anti-tangle technology works in both the high torque cleaner head and the hair screw tool. We then test the anti-tangle technology on short white pet hair and long black human hair.
    We like the click-in battery and discuss how it allows you to charge it both on and off the vacuum. In addition, a click-in battery can double run time should you opt to get a second battery.
    We show how powerful the V15 suction is in all three power modes - ECO, MEDIUM and BOOST, and we compare the V15 suction to the V11 suction.
    Movement of the V15 is excellent both on carpet and hard surfaces. This is pretty much the same for all Dyson cordless machines and the V15 is no exception. We show how it moves much better than some cordless vacuums from other manufacturers.
    We like the AUTO power mode and we describe how it works, including the monitoring of brushroll resistance and particle count in the airstream. We even show the unit transitioning from carpet to bare flooring and then experiencing high debris levels - and how this affects the suction and run times in AUTO power mode.
    We then test debris pickup on both carpet and hard floors and calculate pickup as a percentage. We display results in a table and compare them to the same test results from the Dyson V11.
    We also tested the run times on a tile floor and determined how long a full battery lasted in ECO, AUTO and BOOST power modes. We were thoroughly impressed with how long the unit lasted on a hard floor while using the laser slim fluffy cleaner head.
    We show close-ups of the LCD control panel and discuss the features including the run time countdown, the particle bar chart and the maintenance alerts.
    The wand clip provided with the V15 is handy as it carries two of the four non-motorized tools which can be useful when you are vacuuming and away from the tool storage area. We also find the unit easy to empty. It empties in the same manner as the V10 and the V11. You can easily remove the entire dust canister should you wish to give it a wipe down.

    Best money I’ve ever spent. Use it 2-3 times a day. It’s part of my daily routine now. I love walking around with no socks again! The laser is surprisingly satisfying.

    Mine's fantastic. I love all the same things as you've listed. The V15 is a pleasure to operate, and produces the finest quality results I've ever gotten from a vacuum. I believe, with the combination of adjusting the High Torque Drive gate setting, suction mode, and the auto sensitivity level, you can maximize the quality of your cleaning performance on all different carpet types. The Laser Slim Fluffy cleaning head is simply unsurpassed for hard surfaces, and the Anti Tangle Screw head works amazingly, as well. Get yourself a decently long flexible hose, and together with the soft bristled tool, or even the combination tool, this vacuum works wonderfully as a handheld duster. All in all, I couldn't be more pleased with my purchase.

    Excellent review! Recently, the deals have been improving. We got the Absolute here in the US with an additional battery and a floor stand for a total of $700 plus taxes. That's still a lot of dough for a vacuum, but given the performance and form factor, it's doesn't seem like a bad deal at all. Many thanks.

      Anyone who says that these dyson vacs are cheap products that are overpriced and don't work and that will break easily dont know what theyre talking about. I've owned a used v10 motorhead for about 3 yrs now. I dont know how many times I've accidentally dropped it onto my hard tile floor on the battery, its side, and the top. One of the cyclones on the side is dented in, and that's the only visible damage it has. But it still runs perfectly fine with no issues. The battery is still as strong as when I bought it. And the bin although being made of plastic is very very durable. Dyson did say they make their plastic bins from the same materials used to make police riot shields and I believe them.

      @@blackice7408 I used to think they were way overpriced too but you realize what you've been missing once you actually get one. My V7 Animal still picks up a lot more debris and hair/dust than any upright vacuum I have ever used and that includes bagged upright vacuums.

    I have a strange problem with my Dyson V15 Detect Absolute. The High Torque Head works perfectly when attached directly to the vacuum unit. But when attached to the wand, the rotating brush only spins erratically and more often than not doesn’t spin at all. All of the other cleaner heads work perfectly, both when connected directly and also via the wand.
    I reported this to Dyson who said they will send a new High Torque Head. But their problem is they allegedly don’t have any ! I’ve been asked to call back after a couple of weeks, which seems most unsatisfactory.
    The package was purchased direct from Dyson UK only two months ago and has probably only had a total of little more than one or two hours use.
    What should I do ?

    Hi, I’m hoping you can answer this question but I just purchased the V 15 detect, and I’m not seeing the auto mode on the screen at all. I just used it, and it’s amazing it got in a credible amount of dirt off my carpet, but the only molds that came up or Echo, boost, and MED. There was no auto mode at all. Any thoughts?

    • @Dailydivefix
      @Dailydivefix 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It runs in auto mode when it’s on Med and has one of the three floor heads on (hair screw, fluffy, or the main one). If you can see the particle data, it’s in auto. You should hear it change suction as it gets to heavier dirt. If you have one of those heads attached and don’t see the particle data, you need to change the settings.

    • @blackice7408

    Do you have any reviews that show how well the suction works after a year or more of use? I am looking to find out which vacuum would be the best for long term usage.

    • @porschepal7932
      @porschepal7932 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Dyson's maintain their suction as long as you regularly wash the filters and let them completely dry (24-48 hours) before putting them back in.

    • @porschepal7932
      @porschepal7932 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      As long as you regularly maintain your vacuum properly it's much more likely that over time you'll notice a decrease in battery life versus a decrease in suction. James Dyson was quoted saying "Fifteen years of daily use might get you down to 80% battery," and that was on the Dyson V10 and I would assume that number has either stayed the same or maybe even gotten better.

    • @jo9732
      @jo9732 ปีที่แล้ว

    Are the fluffy cleaner heads adaptable to work on rugs when vacuuming in wood floor homes? Or do we have to swap heads every time we want to vacuum rugs?

    • @feliceduncan767
      @feliceduncan767 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The fluffy head is great for hard wood floors it can get the loose surface stuff off of the carpets but doesn’t penetrate deep in the carpet so you would want to change to the other head for that.

    • @VacuumAdvisor
      @VacuumAdvisor  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah - you would want to swap to the High torque cleaner head if you are doing carpet. However, the High torque cleaner head can do both carpet and bare floors (although it is not as effective on bare floors as the fluffy cleaner head).
