Thank you! So helpful. I find it humorous that Dyson would contact you to tell you what not to do while cleaning out the vacuum. Why don't they just produce their own official version and provide it like you, so we, the consumers, know how we can properly clean our equipment. We pay so much money to buy a cleaner from them, and their instruction manual is so minimal it is hardly useful. Their online tutorial is very lacking as well.
Agreed like their instructional videos are not even practical for everyday dirt If we clean according to their videos our vacuums would get messed up and then we’d have to replace them
I also disagree, when you watch the video from dyson and look into the manual for more than 1 minute, all cleaning is explained and even the secret menu will be no secret to you ;)
My family use the machine to collect food powder, it made me mad because it will attract pest and become moldy when food powder keep storing inside. No one gonna clean it, and I do it myself, spent two days to get most of the food powder and dust out. Thank you so much for the video, I installed it back after cleaning and it works normally! I don’t know why but you sounds like a good father who are teaching us how to wash the machine, your voice make me feel safe and comfort. Can’t believe I can wash it by myself, I learn it from zero and proud of the result. Thanks again.
This was EXTREMELY helpful! We’ve had our for over 2 years. Religiously wash the filter but never knew you could remove the plastic canister. Was going to take it in for servicing but no longer need to. Working like new! 🎉
Thanks for posting this. My Dyson was losing suction & giving it a cleaning, following your instructions, fixed it. So happy to be able to avoid a costly repair.
Excellent tutorial. I clean my V15 with an air hose, I take the unit and accessories outside and blow it with a compressed air hose. Another method is to use another vacuum to clean the V15.These are just some alternatives to your methods
Thank you for that video!!! I just got my Dyson V15 and could not find an instruction manual online. Now after watching your video I feel confident to use it and clean it and am exited for this new household gadget.
If you have hardwood or tile floors use the green light soft brush attachment. The floors will look completely clean until you put the green light on them. Then you see all of the dust and hair that is really there. It’s amazing and now we vacuum in the dark with the green light on. 😊
Literally just used this vacuum for the first time today and the green light my the dog hair light up like Christmas. That vacuum head literally pickups everything
Thanks so much!!! Really, really helpful. I like the way youbexplain everything, as well as the demonstration. I've just brought this model & the only thing i dont like about Dyson is that you dont get manuals & the online ones they provide are very basic & not detailed like yours at all. Perfect 10/10!!!
In the TH-cam video that Dyson made on cleaning the filter, it says to partially fill the filter with water then give it a few shakes back and four, then put down and LEAVE FOR 24 HOURS before putting it back onto the vacuum. I found the rest of your video Very informative to especially since I have a longhair cat and a lot of hair does accumulate. Thank you for this in-depth video. It was quite informative. Thank you!
Well presented, easy to follow. This makes a great reference, being able to learn how to clean the unit and watch it being done. Your speaking manner is pleasant and clear. Very informative video. And I like your white shirt. Really.
I have not had a chance yet to watch your entire video. I just wanted to thank you for part just after 24 minutes. Once you demonstrated it, it was easy to slip the canister back in place.
Excellent video. I have a V12 Slim Detect with the same components. After a year of doing the simple Dyson suggested cleaning I noticed it was loosing suction. Your video fixed the problem, I was shocked at the invisible dirt and dust that had accumulated in the various sections of the upper part. Most helpful was showing me the access port near the silver screen thingy. Thank you for saving me time on the phone with a Dyson rep only to be directed to a diagram in the instruction pamphlet.
Just cleaned my Dyson with this video step by step. I knew of a few things from before but I’m saving this for all future clean ups too. Thanks! Btw - the part when u tap with the paint brush - wow so much stuff came out !also shared this with my brother who has the same Dyson. 😊
I use a thin, plastic, hair retrieval, drain cleaner tool, to clean those intake tubes. It works really well, but I usually have to use it a few times each time I clean the tubes.
Thanks for showing how the filter goes back on. Other videos I've watched only show taking it off, which wasn't helpful. Will come back and watch again when I next clean it.
I have the V11 that is a very similarly design bin and cyclone assembly. Once the outer bin is removed for cleaning, I use a combination of paint prush and a slightly damp micro-fibre cloth to clean the metal mesh part, and any dust off the seals. Ensure that the seals are dry. As for the upper-inside, where the cyclone bits are (you cannot get at those unless you take it apart), a good way to ensure loose dust comes out of that area is to hold it pointing down over a waste bin, and use the handle of a plastic brush to strongly tap the lower thinner section, keep tapping for at least a minute, rotating to different points on the lower end part, as the mechanical tapping action will result in a LOT of fine dust particle falling out of the uppe inside areas. Also, simetimes the bin will get stuck (stiction) on the rubber seals, and the big red lever will not always push it off (you have to rock sidways a bit while pulling to expose the little lock lever), when that happens, use a MINUTE smear of Silicone Grease on the seals (available from automotive shops), and wipe off any excess, otherwise it attracts dust! The ones that stick are the red seal on the bin and where it goes onto on the main part when put back on.
This video has been helpful. While hoovering, the rubbish just comes back out so now I'm going to clean the hoover the way you've showed and let's see if that works.
Thank you-very good tutorial. I would just add that on the vacuum head you need to check the internal air passage after removing the dust bin, that is, the central core hole PLUS the one side hole (on gray part above lower dust block) because they can get clogged with hair or other obstructions. Visually check (easiest to shine a light into the side hole and look through bottom hole) but the side hole and central hole require fingers or a flexible brush or long screwdriver to clear it if it’s clogged. Shining a flashlight (torch) into the side hole and viewing from the bottom works pretty well to ensure it’s clear. 😊
This was so helpful. Vacuum is looking great now and it started out pretty rough 😅 the brush roller does have little side traps that get hair rolled up in it. It was time consuming but I used a small blade to get them loosened up. I imagine there is a better way to do it, but just something you can maybe talk about in a next video. Cheers!
Me too. Very annoying. I just got one today, no manual. I usually sit and read through them before I use the machine. So I’m watching TH-cam videos today on the vacuum.
The dirt goes into the upper part of the canister when I vacuum. I have checked it over well and It continues to happen. After watching you video, I will go and check it again and see if I missed anything. Thank you so much!
Thank you, just cleaned out my v15 and I was suprised with all the dog hair caught up in it - Now that I know how to clean it I will be doing so weekly
Bless you for making this! It’s a very expensive vaccuum and I was afraid I was gonna break it if I tried to figure out how to clean it myself. Really makes you think why the manufacturer has such poor care information. If you ever make a video on how each attachment is supposed to be used, that’d be rad. I’ve been trying to figure out the - + icon on the front of the big antitangle brush and I’m stuck
The plus or minus raises or lowers the brush for plush pile carpet or lower pile carpet. I have to switch mine to the minus side to get better suction on the rugs in my house 💕
Thanks for the tips. This was really helpful. The only thing I would have done differently was to clean/brush all the dirt and dust off of the vacuum cleaner directly into a garbage bag or some sort of a bin so that one could throw it away or just flush it down the toilet or something. As you brush the dirt/dust off the vacuum with any brush some of the dusk particles tend to fly all over the place including your lungs. 🙈
Thank you it was most informative, especially how to get all the different parts off for cleaning. What I did observe as a first time user that the light stays on for a while, before switching off. So I gather there is no ‘Off’ button.
I use a thin, plastic, hair retrieval, drain cleaner tool, to clean those intake tubes. It works really well, but I usually have to use it a few times each time I clean the tubes.
I have dogs, big ones, and this is my third wand, V6, then V11, on to V15, and after a month of use mine look like I’ve just finished vacuuming the inside of a tornado. This helps.
I would normally recommend every 3-4 months but it really depends how often you use the vacuum and how dirty it gets. If you are using it a lot and it gets dirtier, then the vacuum could benefit by being cleaned like this every couple of months
Just picked up on what you said about hair rapping around the brush head and if you have got a lot of hair around it just get some scissors ✂️ and cut it away but I don’t know if you have noticed on your dyson but it’s a anti tangle brush head so it prevents hair from getting tangled around it, plus it’s written all over the brush head “anti tangle” you can’t miss it lol so no need for scissors ✂️ anymore
Thank you for the video! The brush is a great idea. I’m very allergic to dust and mites and purchased a Dyson because of its excellent cleaning abilities. My home has never been so dust free. However, the cleaning takes longer than the vacuuming ! Because you cannot clean the parts properly and need to touch the dusty unit while cleaning it makes cleaning cause rashes and breathing problems. I put the motor unit inside a long plastic bag when brushing so the dust doesn’t fly everywhere and of course I use long gloves. I also use the edge nozzle in the last minute to clean the floor brushes. I’m not sure I’d purchase again because of the cleaning and maintenance issues.
"Don't need to get the bin wet" Buddy, I've got 3 kids under 5 and been using mine since it arrived from pre-order. I had NO IDEA I could take any of these bits off. The amount of caked-on yuck... I'm going to have to soak some of that. 🤣
@@petralea Dude, that's literally the point of the comment? This guy showed us HOW to get in and clean bits we couldn't otherwise access? And whilst he said you don't need to get it wet, my comment was saying that I'm going to so I can clean it thoroughly? Why reply when you haven't read?
If you move it to - it will lower the roller cleaning device, + in turn will raise it. On carpet you might prefer a lower setting whereas on a hard floor you might need a higher setting.
I was hoping to see you open the vacuum’s canister lid as I’ve had trouble with mine or I’m too scared I’ll break the red handle. I thought this was the latest vacuum but your video is 2 yrs old. Thx in advance.
Thanks, a very helpful video. I purchased a Dyson V15 Detect Absolut in December 2021, a couple of months ago both of the brushes stopped turning. There was no hair trapped in them. I discovered that my partner has been submerging the plastic brush holder in water to clean it Would this be the reason why both the yellow/blue and normal large hair detangling brush head no longer turns?
Excellent video, thank you so much for the clear and concise steps. When I went to place the clear bin back on, the red rubber gasket-looking ring popped off from the inside of the bin when it was going past the grey rubber umbrella-looking bit. I tried for better part of an hour to get it back in place but had no joy. Please do you have a way to reassemble this part? (The grey plastic ring and red rubber ring both popped off) thank you
Thank you so much! I always clean the filter and wipe the surface dirt off but the build up of dirty inside started to smell. Just got it sparkly clean
Thank you for the great, helpful, clear video. I had no clue what I was doing until you explained it all. Wow.! Just call me Mrs. Dyson. And thanks for the explanation about the white shirt sleeves. Very classy. I like your accent also.
You can get blowers for drying vehicles or drying dogs. These are great for cleaning vacuums as it get dust out of areas you can’t get a cloth or brush to. Very quick process too.
Great video - very helpful. Question: The rubber gaskets on the bin lid top have dust underneath the tight fitting gaskets. Tried blowing air to remove it but they are tight and despite weekly cleaning the gaskets there is visible dust under both. Any solution?
Many thanks. My V15 no longer adapts its power according to the level of dust... it used to do that for months and the settings are ok... I also cleaned it properly but still it no longer adapts the power... any idea of what could it be ?
@minerva2kutube I have the same issue with a less than 30 day old unit. Dyson issued a new battery. This did not resolve the issue. They are now replacing the filter which is out of stock. Wondering if your isse was resolved and how?
@@cweems2484 Hi, they actually sent me a brand new motor. To no avail. But then, after a few weeks, it started working well again. And now, all of a sudden… no longer working… I give up… no big deal, I switch to max whenever I need it. The V15 is an excellent product even with those small software problems.
First of all have a look to see if there are any blockages down there. If it appears to be blocked, i would try and get something like a stick and cloth to try and unblock it, i have found that has worked in the past.
Thank you for your video. I follow how clean my dyson step by step but unfortunatly the message ' clean your filter' come back after 5mn of aspiration.
Great video, thank you!! I have a question - on my main head (the anti-tangle comb one), the clear plastic is VERY dirty. I wiped as much as I could with a damn microfiber and that helped, but I can’t wipe the part underneath where the head connector/drive shaft is - which means half of the clear plastic part is still very dirty. Not to mention the gunk caught in the teeth which are also hard to get at that angle. Is there any way to remove or lift up the head drive or to remove the clear plastic to give it a good scrub?? (Without invalidating warranty of course!)
I bought a wireless hoover so i dont have to plug it in. Then every year i have to dismantle it and clean it for it to actually last. The amount of dust in my filter was a shit ton and only owned my v11 for 3 months. The V7 never got as dusty as fast
Hello, Looking for help with the Dyson V15. It blocks my anti-tangle carpet attachment and won't spin. It has suction but does not spin. I watched different videos on youtube but I can't fix it. It's almost new, I've only used it 3 or 4 times. I opened it up to clean it, but it doesn't even have dirt on it. The rest of my attachments work fine. My vacuum cleaner is only 2 months old and I take care of it.
Does sound odd, as it is only 2 months old, i would contact Dyson to get them to sort it out for you as it will still be covered under the manufacturers warranty.
What about that hole in the side in the dirt compartment? My totally clogs inside there.. Im surprised it has not filter to keep stuff out of there. I have to use Tongs to pull big wads of hair and other debris out of there.
I just cleaned my main part for the first time. All seemed to go well, however now that I snapped the clear canister back on, the red handle is stuck and won’t empty the bin. What should I do? Thank you
I would recommend to try and take the bin off and try and relocate it again. If the rubber seal around the bin lid is stuck then it will be difficult to open with the red handle so it may be worth trying to get a screwdriver and gently prising the bin lid open
Cannot believe that people questioned where your demo was taken place and what you were wearing. Great video!

Totally agreed I also paid huge amount for this useless cleaner when it’s unclean
Exactly, Dyson’s instructions are not good!!!!

I discovered that my partner has been submerging the plastic brush holder in water to clean it Would this be the reason why both the yellow/blue and normal large hair detangling brush head no longer turns?
Yes it sounds like it has damaged the head by putting it in water unfortunately. Hopefully just purchasing a new head should help.
(The grey plastic ring and red rubber ring both popped off) thank you
Thank you! Very informative, detailed and exactly what I was looking for! 😊
What a pleasant presentation for a not exactly exciting subject….thank you!
Thanks very much, glad you enjoyed it ☺️
Best cleaning video ever. Thank you.
Great to know you enjoyed it. Thanks for the feedback
Thank you so much! I always clean the filter and wipe the surface dirt off but the build up of dirty inside started to smell. Just got it sparkly clean
Great to hear this was useful for you, thanks for the feedback 👍
Thank you for the great, helpful, clear video. I had no clue what I was doing until you explained it all. Wow.! Just call me Mrs. Dyson. And thanks for the explanation about the white shirt sleeves. Very classy. I like your accent also.
Great information however what does the red selector switch on the vacuum head do.
You can get blowers for drying vehicles or drying dogs. These are great for cleaning vacuums as it get dust out of areas you can’t get a cloth or brush to. Very quick process too.
Great in-depth video that is very much helpful! Thank you.
Great video - very helpful. Question: The rubber gaskets on the bin lid top have dust underneath the tight fitting gaskets. Tried blowing air to remove it but they are tight and despite weekly cleaning the gaskets there is visible dust under both. Any solution?
So happy to find this video, phenomenal explanation.
Great to hear the video was helpful for you. Thanks for the feedback
Thanks!
Many thanks. My V15 no longer adapts its power according to the level of dust... it used to do that for months and the settings are ok... I also cleaned it properly but still it no longer adapts the power... any idea of what could it be ?
Not too sure. I would give it a clean first and perhaps remove the battery to see if it resets it
@minerva2kutube I have the same issue with a less than 30 day old unit.
@@minerva2kutubeThank you for your reply. I exchanged mine yesterday for a new one. I hope that it is not a bad unit as well.
I bought this unit a couple of days ago. Works amazing. Question I would like to ask is what head do you recommend for vacuuming a mattress? Thanks.
There are mattress tools available but i would normally say the motorised turbo brush is the best one for the job.
Helpful video - thank you. How do you recommend cleaning the long tube that connects the vacuum motor head to the floor brushes on the V15?
First of all have a look to see if there are any blockages down there. If it appears to be blocked, i would try and get something like a stick and cloth to try and unblock it, i have found that has worked in the past.
First time cleaning, thank you for the video instructions.
Very helpful, thanks a lot! Vacuum is like new!
This is very helpful now I know how to clean every parts of it.
Thank you for your video. I follow how clean my dyson step by step but unfortunatly the message ' clean your filter' come back after 5mn of aspiration.
12:15 thank you! That's why i looked up this video!
Very helpful and clearly explained.
Thanks. Nice clear instructions. I wonder how the device knows when it's picking up mites?
You saved me $399 because I was about to trash it! Warranty has been over!!!
Excellent!
This is a really diffcult one to clean properly without invalidating the warranty.
@@lords-electrical thanks for taking the time to reply! I appreciate it!!
Thanks for this video! It made cleaning my new Dyson a breeze.
Oh, I didn't know you could turn off the particle display, that's actually nice.
Imagine the time and effort saved if Dyson would give us a bagged option in these vacuums
An excellent guide through cleaning my Dyson V15.
Is it necessary to wait until the battery is all the way out of power before recharging it?
No, you can charge the battery at any time to fully charge it.
Thank you for the video. This made my life much better.
Thank you for this video. i had no idea it had a secret menu 🙂
Thanks for this easy DIY video🏆 It saved me from butting a NEW ONE😎

Great to hear it was useful. Thanks for the great feedback
I bought a wireless hoover so i dont have to plug it in. Then every year i have to dismantle it and clean it for it to actually last. The amount of dust in my filter was a shit ton and only owned my v11 for 3 months. The V7 never got as dusty as fast
Hello,
Looking for help with the Dyson V15.
@@lords-electrical No, there is no odd sound, everything works great. It's just that the anti-comb tangle doesn't spin. I sent it to warranty service.
This was an awesome detailed video, just what I was looking for thank you!
What about that hole in the side in the dirt compartment? My totally clogs inside there.. Im surprised it has not filter to keep stuff out of there. I have to use Tongs to pull big wads of hair and other debris out of there.
Yes it can be a pain to get debris out of there
I just cleaned my main part for the first time.
Very helpful...good pace, thorough explanation
