Paul moved away from that low set up used lighter sticks, sat up higher , got a new smaller set up and is still blasting , his tempos are spot on , self taught and an originator of the style, a great drummer for those that can hear. long live CC
Paul IS cannibal corpse. Without him they wouldn't sound the same. Pat, Rob and Alex have much precision and tightness in their playing which of course is good but there's a lot of guitarists who have that as well. There's no other drummer who has that kinda powerful caveman style drumming that Paul has. It's not super tight, not super fast, it's raw and fucking powerful. He (and George) makes Cannibal Corpse sound so brutal. I wouldn't change him for no one.
Generally speaking his setup has been the same for 30 plus years now. He had changed the way he's playing like now he has smaller toms instead of larger toms or he's sitting up higher than this video where he's sitting super low. Its pretty much a quality of life change to his playing
I don't care how low or high his throne is, I'm just wondering how he generated enough power to hit the bass drums. I think it put a lot of pressure on his lower back, that's why 30 years ( THIRTY YEARS!!!!) of drumming fcuked up his lower back. But he took it as an lessons learned, re-evaluated his technique to stay healthy and to continue doing what he love most. Everyone would do the same being in his shoes.
agreed. the great thing about Mazurkiewicz is, he isnt techinal, he is just about solid drumming. The guy is like a Hammer, he's there soley to do the job that needs to be done for the song/band. The Backbone of Cannibal
@TheTrueFortress Totally Agreed, This man is the most humble drummer. Chosed not to be much technical with solid sound ! No one can replace him for sure.
Shut up and enjoy y'all couldn't hang on his left .20 Years of touring countless recording sessions shows night after night sleeping and tour buses playing sick tired and rain and cold so give the guy a break plus he's almost 50 many of you may be able to technically play this song nice but you all couldn't hang for a minute and his world so shut up and enjoy the music
I think people do not think Paul is as technical as drummers such as Derek Roddy and George Kollias is because Paul's drumming generally works around a skank beat and bomb blast which are always the same tempo every time he does them. Not discrediting him, hes a sickdrummer! But I think he can do more than those two drum beats (he does I know but most of the time its just those two) xo.
@bnfdrummer808 Correct, he now uses thinner sticks aswell for faster blast beats., he realises hes getting older and needs to uses lighter pedals and lighter sticks to still be able to play fast.
Paul has that style of drumming that sounds better if it’s not precise. He’s not sloppy, but messy if that makes sense. It’s raw and intense, really let’s you know that you’re listening to DEATH METAL, not a fuckin fall out boy album
u prove a good point with everything =] but the modern metal drummers really stepped it up im not saying this guy is bad but check out other drummers in bands such as bleeding through serpents rise all that remains etc they speed and technique really got pushed through out the years and iof u have any bands for me to check out that would be good =] stay metal!!
I have always digged Paul's style. Especially on TOTM and The Bleeding. Fuck the haters. people get old eventually!! so everyone chill the hell out and just enjoy music
@AQganon Funny you should say that, because I play very fast death metal and large sticks only slow me down. Same can be said for a lot of drummers I know and have talked to.
I guess we can say what we will about his weird playing style and whatnot but he has created one of the coolest beats and helped create one of the coolest bands in death metal--his style is what help develop CC's sound. He's an extremely creative drummer! Give him credit for that at least.
@Krig666 I think it also has to do with he doesnt want to defer too much away from the cannibal corpse style. In my personal opinion, the guitar techniques of cannibal corpse have changed a lot from 15 years ago til now, and he sticks with his same style. Like you said he could proly outdrum anyone simply cuz hes been doing it so long, but he sticks with the same techniques and whatnot, I think that really helps their songs so much
So this is to the people who keep complaining about his drumming height. Paul realised he needed to change even re-learn his playing style, which included sitting at a more appropriate height, changing to thinner sticks and even using clicks. Look at the date this was posted, so he has improved heaps since then and he is better than ever.
simple drumming is not bad drumming. keep that in mind. know that this dude could probably kick the shit out of any modern metal drummer. choosing to not be technical for an overall better song is mature drumming. obviously, none of you leaving comments here are drummers, because if you were you'd be a fool.
@BecauseIgothigh143 lol dude, of course I know, I've been drumming for three years, I've played in several bands, and I play in two Progressive Metal bands, in which I compose, both drums and a little of the other instruments. So I know what I'm talking about. And I appreciate many types of drumming.
Dude Paul would destroy any drummer you put against him. His throne height was comfortable for him at the time, he doesn't sit so low anymore. He's in one of the most legendary metal bands of all time and his drumming was far ahead of his time. He's a super fucking nice guy in person too
Play extreme drums for 30 years and tell me of you won't have physical problems. Each person sees his drum kit as he or she wishes. It is clear you don't even play drums.
@TaurenWardrums Very nice. I'm not a huge fan of Origin, but John can fuckin play. Pete is fuckin sick too. He's the forefather of Death Metal drumming!
Why should Paul learn to drum faster if he dont need to play faster? its like all saying Lars Ulrich sucks well he dosnt need to be playing any better cuz the drums fit Metallica. same here these drums are awesome for Cannibal Corpse fucking brutal if he played faster it would ruin the songs after my opnion (sorry for my bad english :S)
paul always looks like he's one drum roll away from dying
Heka41 and its fucking awesome lmao
Right LOL
Stfu chode
He’s looked that way since they started. It really fits with the bands themes
Paul moved away from that low set up used lighter sticks, sat up higher , got a new smaller set up and is still blasting , his tempos are spot on , self taught and an originator of the style, a great drummer for those that can hear. long live CC
MADROCKS212 I love cannibal corpse, but his tempos are definitely not spot on. Like, at all. Whenever he does blasts, the tempo dies - alot.
yeah? watch them record evisceration plague in the studio, and listen to his drum tracking perfectly with a metronome/
Like Yeah.
Heels on the hi hat toes on the bass ? are you serious ? many drummers who play double bass use the locked semi open method. but yes what do you know.
***** who cares what you do with your left hand.
Legendary drummer. True Rock n' Roll Spirit.
It pains me how low he sits
Yeah man, it hurt my back just looking at it
Right
This is old school drumming! Great!

He (and George) makes Cannibal Corpse sound so brutal. I wouldn't change him for no one.
He may be old-school and a pioneer but that setup and his playing style is just ridiculous in my eyes. I'm glad he changed things up.
Generally speaking his setup has been the same for 30 plus years now. He had changed the way he's playing like now he has smaller toms instead of larger toms or he's sitting up higher than this video where he's sitting super low. Its pretty much a quality of life change to his playing
"we are cannibal corpse from BUFFALO, NEW YORK"!!
There's no Cannibals without Paul.
I love cc and love Paul even more 😊
Who cares if he's not the most technical? Everything he does works for the song..
I don't care how low or high his throne is, I'm just wondering how he generated enough power to hit the bass drums. I think it put a lot of pressure on his lower back, that's why 30 years ( THIRTY YEARS!!!!) of drumming fcuked up his lower back.

This is an awesome video. THANK YOU for posting! So rare that we get to see live drummer videos like this, especially from CC!
Paul u the best!
Kickass drummer absolutely great
His toms look all the same size
you really got to give any drummer credit for changing there play style and making them selves better especially after almost 20 yrs
he sits too low!
I imagine Paul drive his car. LOL!!!
Paul is one of the best drummer out their !
Nope
The guy is a legend 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
This is a good way of learning how to play this song Long live DEATH METAL DRUMMiNG!!!!!!!
agreed. the great thing about Mazurkiewicz is, he isnt techinal, he is just about solid drumming. The guy is like a Hammer, he's there soley to do the job that needs to be done for the song/band. The Backbone of Cannibal
man i want a drummer like him!!!!
@TheTrueFortress
Totally Agreed, This man is the most humble drummer. Chosed not to be much technical with solid sound !
No one can replace him for sure.
So fucking violent.... the low he sits. :v
Shut up and enjoy y'all couldn't hang on his left .20 Years of touring countless recording sessions shows night after night sleeping and tour buses playing sick tired and rain and cold so give the guy a break plus he's almost 50 many of you may be able to technically play this song nice but you all couldn't hang for a minute and his world so shut up and enjoy the music
thanks a lot for uploading!!
World Championship bravo greetings from Polish.
I'd be exhausted by sitting like that...he must have some real fucking strength.
This not boring. I like. High five!!!
This is fast like to play ping pong
his whole fucking drumset is moving lol
SICK
no way he feels comfortable behind that drum set !
I think people do not think Paul is as technical as drummers such as Derek Roddy and George Kollias is because Paul's drumming generally works around a skank beat and bomb blast which are always the same tempo every time he does them. xo.

when i drum, viens pop out of my forehead
gotta love the technique its one of just play the shit who cares lol
@Th3RussBus I'm not sure why he changed to smaller sticks. Larger sticks usually enhance speed.
Paul has that style of drumming that sounds better if it’s not precise. He’s not sloppy, but messy if that makes sense. It’s raw and intense, really let’s you know that you’re listening to DEATH METAL, not a fuckin fall out boy album
Cmon guys he invented the bomb blast beat
John Goss, what a legend!
This not boring. I like. High five!!!
he sits so low!
Hail To The King !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
lol i like how his drums are just like towering over him
That dude looks very uncomfortable
Paul is a great death metal drummer!

@Krig666 im a drummer and i completly agree with u
I guess we can say what we will about his weird playing style and whatnot but he has created one of the coolest beats and helped create one of the coolest bands in death metal--his style is what help develop CC's sound. He's an extremely creative drummer! Give him credit for that at least.
HOLY SHIT. I love paul. He isnt the best drummer ever, but his influence on death metal drumming is definitely high!
@Krig666 I think it also has to do with he doesnt want to defer too much away from the cannibal corpse style. solid as fuck.
i think the man knows what he is doing , fuck yea
not too tech, but damn fucken good and clean! paul is the shit!
Now, that is weird drumming position. It shouldn`t work, but somehow...
cowah those are some fucking hench-ass big shells hes got there lol such a fucking pro drummer :) fuck technique its not always necessary.
@TaurenWardrums Really? Larger sticks are a must for me. My stick technique is much like Pete Sandovals.
@BecauseIgothigh143 lol dude, of course I know, I've been drumming for three years, I've played in several bands, and I play in two Progressive Metal bands, in which I compose, both drums and a little of the other instruments. So I know what I'm talking about. And I appreciate many types of drumming.
He sits really low :O.
He sits so LOW wow lol.
paul is amazing...but how did he ever play the drums sitting THAT LOW!!!! whoa...
Dude Paul would destroy any drummer you put against him. His throne height was comfortable for him at the time, he doesn't sit so low anymore. He's in one of the most legendary metal bands of all time and his drumming was far ahead of his time. He's a super fucking nice guy in person too
OMG SO THAT WAS SO FAST PAUL !!! FUCKING AMAZING
Master player! The only thing that matters to me is the amazing drumming he delivers in the songs. Fuck the rest.
Here we see bad habits of early drumming. Now I know why has problems with his back... 30 years of bad technique.
echo yea...he sat way to low and doesn't play with his back straight
Play extreme drums for 30 years and tell me of you won't have physical problems. Each person sees his drum kit as he or she wishes. It is clear you don't even play drums.
@alexisreallyisonfire
In my opinion the way he sits does help a lot with ankle motion :P
Wow big fucking drum set!
agree!!! but i think joey is one of the best drummers
And mm mm mm I want this Artstar!!!!!!!!
the worst excuse is that they say is just getting old
bitch please Steve Asheim :)
man he sits low!!
fuck yea
beasty
I hope the intro ain’t talkin Dave McGraw or George kollias
He is so brutal :D
Kids junior drumset
@Krig666 "Probably"??? he owns all
PETE "COMMANDO" SANDOVAL !!!!!!
No, his seat is really really low. I play with my legs at a 90° angle he's basically sitting on the stage floor. But props to him that shit is hard.
Is he sitting on the floor????
How low can you go?
Muy buen batero
@TaurenWardrums Very nice. I'm not a huge fan of Origin, but John can fuckin play. Pete is fuckin sick too. He's the forefather of Death Metal drumming!
pretty inovative lol
Yeah exactly man.. I mean look each dude is diff hey. Whatever is comfortable :-)
his seats hella low lol.
is he using triggers or is a ghost hitting his left pedal at the end?
i wonder if he can see the ppl!!!!
his toms are too high :P
anyway he rocks!!!!
He's practically sitting on the ground. Yikes.
mas o menos...
@AQganon That probably explains it, then. Mine is more like John Longstreth's.
amazing drummer bt it seems like he is sitting on the ground while hes drumin wich looks pretty cool
