The new controller was a big Switch at the time. Though, at that time, nobody knew that a Switch like that could even exist. Now, we're more used to that Switch then we would have been before if they made such a Switch much earlier. That's why the Wii U Gamepad had to be such a Switch, to prepare for better things later. It really makes a Switch of your prespective.

Wii Music was one of my favorite games as a kid, and I had a lot of fun with it. Now that I'm 16, I don't play it nearly as much, but it was so much fun just playing around with it and doing stuff on it as a kid.
That said, that E3 presentation...scarred for life.

AdrianDX Exactly, it was never on-stage, if only, a preproduced streamed E3 moment. The game is bad, but I'm happy they didn't torture some live audience with that on stage.

Wii Music for the Nintendo Switch

At the time I adored Wii Music. One night I played it all night long with my friends. If I think about it right now...
Federation Force and Amiibo Festival were far more embarrassing then "Wii Music".
I'm always coming back to this and skipping to 7:08 lol gets me every time
I feel the skyward sword was worse than the Wii music because you kinda expect the Wii music to be silly.
Looking back now I'm cringing at these E3 moments but back in the day I just remember being hyped for new games and consoles.
I don't know what that Wii Music is, but motion controlled virtual drums?! Sign me up!
The moments on this list are why Nintendo will never ever do a live conference at E3 again.
...And we still wonder why Nintendo won't go on stage anymore on E3

I don't know what was wrong with the Wii Music one it was just a bunch of people getting wild and having fun.
Same I enjoyed it and it made me want to play it. I don't remember that being a mode on it.

What made it cringy was, first of all, this is a corporation. They are a corporation that makes fun video games, yes, but they are still a corporation, and there is nothing more corporate than a press conference. Cringe itself is also another form of empathy. They are embarrassing themselves, and you feel their embarrassment. Imagine these people looking into the eyes of the people in the DEATHLY SILENT crowd while they are on stage. Now to get into the meat of it.
First of all, we get Miyamoto coming on stage to demonstrate playing an instrument with a wiimote. He tries to play an F-Zero song, and clearly butchers it. It sounds amateurish, which is not a good look for a music game.
Then, they get this goofy ass guy playing drums. At first, he does a good job of showcasing that you can actually sound like you are playing drums. Then, he starts flailing randomly and it just sounds like a bunch of noise. While he is doing that, they cut to him making this face that looks like he is high with his hair flopping about while he is flailing his arms with a cord between them shaking about. It looks goofy as shit and, again, THIS IS ON A CORPORATE PRESS CONFERENCE.
Finally, the coup de grace. A bunch of corporate executives come on stage and start playing the Mario theme.... and absolutely butcher it while they have the most fake ass expressions and movements possible. They don't look like they are having fun, they look like they are trying to look like they are having fun. All while a goofy ass sounding version of the mario theme plays. Seriously, just look at their expressions while listening to that music, and REMEMBER, THIS IS A CORPORATE PRESS CONFERENCE. THIS IS FOR THE PRESS AND THEIR INVESTORS TO SEE.
Sorry for the long post, I just wanted to be absolutely clear, THIS IS HIGH LEVEL CRINGE.

As a musician myself, when I saw the drummer on stage my first thought was, "Hey, what's wrong with it? That actually looks kind of cool. Music apps like those are very popular today for cell phones and IPads". Then I heard the entire "band" fucking up Mario's Theme and I said "Oh. God. Nevermind".
I love how in the SMB theme demonstration, Miyamoto is like "How have I fallen this hard?"
E3 2008 was the ONE year I decided to introduce my friend to E3. Don't think he's ever watched one since then, and I can't blame him. lol

The vitality sensor could have been pretty sick, The concept of, the came reacts to you pulse ( therefore stress etc. ) and adjusts the difficulty/tension/whatever seems still a sick concept... i wonder how long it will be before, in the whole upcomig VR bs, this concept will be reimagined to give a better experience in some VR Resident Evil.

They actually did show off a game for the vitality sensor. I remember, you were this thing, going through a tunnel, and if your heart beated faster, you moved up, and if it was slower, you moved down. And they brought up the fact that they can try to trick your heart into beating faster by making intense music and different colors on the walls to make you nervous and all that. But I mean, let's be real, it wouldn't have worked well at all.
Regarding #3, it was always clear to me that the Wii U was a new system. The promo video showed the new system next to the TV. The promo emphasized the control, but Nintendo has always had innovative controls, so that wasn't a surprise. When I read articles later by confused writers who didn't know if this was just an add-on or a new system, I just shook my head. Again, the promo video showed the new system next to the TV. The only mistake was calling it the Wii U, which was a very unimaginative name.

I'm honestly surprised their E3 2015 direct didn't make the list.
I like my Nintendo but the Wii with it's damn Wiimote BS pissed me off so much during the entire life cycle of the Wii. I know the Wii reveal is not an embarrassing moment but I had to put this here. I know the tech is more or less succeeded by the Joy-Cons now but there was this obnoxious hype surrounding the Wiimote when it came out which made it more annoying than it already was.
I remember during one Nintendo e3 Nintendo announced nothing but Mario spinoff games and the crowed booed.
We really gotta see the full video of the E3 Wii Music performance. Yeah it gets really off I guess but whatever he wanted to do a song for the fans. Seems like a nice man.
