Solo Leveling episode 7.5 was made due to production issues, as the main voice actor got sick. The show wasn't supposed to have it initially.
I am someone who enjoyed Stein's Gate in the current day, but I do have to say that you will only enjoy it if you finish it. The first half is literally all buildup for the last 3rd of the season and it is all done so well, but it does require a lot of patience and if you cant handle Okarun's Chunnibyoness I get why you can't finish it.
I want to say this 10 more times. It really is worthwhile. I don't want to over hype it or spoil anything, so I will only add, it is an experience. Please watch it.
I'm weird and actually enjoyed the first half more. I liked the slow build-up because I knew it was building up to something, in a way it makes it more tense (imo).
I dropped it after 6 eps, sell me why eps 7 will change my mind (spoilers are okay)

@@agumon1605 it genuinely took me until "the big reveal" episode to be like okayy now im into this, which i dont remember when it was but i remember it being somewhere around 7-10. which is honestly crazy for an anime. but i will say, once you finish the whole thing, the beginning is worth it and everything comes full circle. you'll only really understand if you finish it which kinda sucks but theres a reason it's one of the highest rated on MAL

Syd only liking Shonen series is crazy to me. Granted she's a new anime fan so it makes more sense to be in a shonen phase at the start. Once ya start noticing the repeated troups ya start looking for different genres.
The Way Syd talks about the X-Men regardless whether it’s about the films or the new show which is phenomenal makes me have some much more respect for her. She also has a very good pick of her favourite superheroes

Steins; Gate is really just a slice of life until halfway through. But once shit starts going down it's a crazy ride all the way to the end, which only works because of the foundation of the first half of the show. Absolute masterpiece.
Im ngl i dont love it, i watched it due to hype, it was fun once i finished it. It probably doesnt break my top 15. I just think if it takes you 4 hours to set something up befor it gets interesting its not that great for me. But to each their own
The initial episodes are hard to get through but after episode 12, everything is so good that the later whole half is like the best thing in anime and its honestly a fair trade
It had the perfect ending for a TIME TRAVEL FICTION which is so hard to do.
And when you rewatch Steins gate again you feel like the initial half becomes sooo much more interesting and i feel like that makes this anime much more lovable and just amazing experience with this perfection honestly
Like how rare is good ending these days and this one has the best one!
Steins;Gate has a lot of rewatchability since there is a lot of foreshadowing and small details in the first few episodes that you might not care about or be confused about when you first see it

This episode was hilarious. Scarra dropping the line about a slave anime 5 minutes into the show with Syd's response "you honestly lost me at slave"
to Scarra being absolutely concerned whether there was a new Green Lantern or not. "WAIT ...who holds the ring for EARTH?!?"
Scarra is the absolute homie. He's seen every DC comic book animated show. The More you know. He's literally seen the cape. (Yes I jumped ahead only to give him props just before I watch it in full). You absolute CHAD.

It's very interesting to listen to a comic superhero reader talk to manga/anime consumers about an entire different kind of stuff. I like this combo
I agree that Kubo Tite is one of the best at making characters look cool, although if you guys have ever seen Air Gear I'm sure you would agree that Oh! Great is right up on that list as well.
Either way though, artists that know how to draw drip are cool af. lol

DCAU is where it's at for DC. Animation, story, action, and actually sticking to the comic books is DC's formula of success and not that awful live action dc movies.

Syd's take on Solo Leveling is spot on. I've described it as 2 anime premises smashed together for no reason. The starting premise was cool alone. I wish they would have never brought in the weird gameified shenanigans. It would have been more interesting if the main character would have just reawakened with better powers and stuck to the first primises

I actually thing the first 10-20 or so episodes of Fullmetal Alchemist is better than the beginning of Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood.
I feel like the Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood versions jumps lightly over them, because they were seen before.
This is true. Though I feel like some of the episodes were filler-y, there were a lot of good episodes to build up the main cast of FMAB and Hughes was more developed making his death more tragic.
In FMAB, he’s not as relevant prior to his death.

Look, I Love NGNL. I don't know if that opening scene with Shiro was clickbait back in the day but yes, a lot of handwaving required but I really like the worldbuilding and plot so, worth for me.

100% check out Rurouni Kenshin live-action adaptation. Best adaptation for an old series in a form of a movie. Choreography is on point!

Syd please please give Frieren a chance. There is zero fanservice. Its got mature themes and its action slaps. Highly recommend giving it 3 episodes

Solo leveling was great tbh, music, voice acting, animation, action and the story are all pretty good and interesting to me and adapted decently. They did a lot with only 12 episodes. Loving the pod tho, keep it up!

I watched steins gate well after it aired (late 2010s era). I got to episode 6 or so and dropped it, rewatched again a couple years later and it jumped up to one of my favorites of all time. I'd imagine each passing year attention spans are getting shorter though, so maybe even that's an opinion of a bygone era
Recaps are most of the time a result of production issues. They reuse footage so that they can catch up or skip a week.

I don't remember fanservice in soul-eater, but to be fair it was more than 10 years ago and I don't really remember anything at all, not even its plot xD
The God of Highschool anime also is kinda like you guys described Demon Slayer. They were super focused on the fights with the animation

I would argue that the best way to maximize anime time would be to watch anime at a faster speed. 1.5-1.7x speed for standard anime. 2.7-3x speed for something like dragonball super
i watched steins gate in 2020 and i liked it. also one of the first animes i watched. watching this podcast where everyone hates makes me think thats a test for a true weeb
I love the Solo Leveling takes and this is coming from a BIG solo leveling fan. I agree with the points - I don't think the IRL game is lame per say - since its just leaning heavily into the power fantasy trope - but the animation needed to be at the level of Sung Jin Woo vs Igris consistently, I feel that would have elevated the show.
True about One Piece. Greatest of all time in my mind, but I 100% would not be able to get into it from Ep 1 if I was a first-timer now.
The Live Action did great things for One Piece. Hitting the Final Saga is gonna bring a lot of attention since OP stands head and shoulders over all other Shonen regardless, but having a digestible form is essential. Can't wait for S2
Talk about or watch or read the “Toaru”series it’s soo good or “a certain” in English my favorite series the world building is amazing.
Edit: the main show is called “ a certain magical index” or “Toaru majutsu no index” (not sure if I spelled the Japanese name right) and it has two spin offs “a certain scientific railgun” and “a certain scientific accelerator”.

If DC can get Green Lantern right one of these days, then that character can do for them what Guardians of the Galaxy did for the MCU. The success of Guardians allowed the MCU to start telling space stories.
I'm pretty sure recap episodes aren't a new thing to Solo Leveling. A LOT of 2000's anime had recap episodes to let the studio catch up on work, back when seasons were weekly 52 episodes

I think she would really enjoy 86. Don’t remember any fan service. Definitely has stakes and is pretty dark. Great animation and soundtrack. Story is so good imo. It is the only light novel I have ever read and even bought the hard copies. Def recommend in my top 3 anime for sure.

I TRIED TO WATCH STEINS GATE like 4 times after I got to the first 3ish episodes and then I watched the entire thing in a few days
As someone who never finished watching Bleach, I went back and decided to actually finish it. I realized watching it at 1.5x/2x speed really helped me enjoy the series xD. Just too much dead air of a camera panning for like a minute over an empty field.

I tried picking up one-piece like a four or five separate times, I even watched a recap till like episode 100 and still can't handle watching it further
Episode 7.5 is the most disliked anime episode in crunchyroll, but then it was revealed one of the voice actors was super sick and it couldn't be recorded in time.

I'll back up Peter and say Mato Seihei no Slave or Chained Soldier in English is a really good action ecchi (fan service) series. I really like the art style, character designs, as well as the world building/setting of the manga. The anime adaptation wasn't bad, but I prefer the manga. However, it is an ecchi or fan service series, so I can't recommend it to everyone unless they are fellow degenerates.
I find it interesting that Syd can't watch old anime. She's missing out on a lot of good shows. I didn’t think Solo Leveling was that bad. Granted, I read it back in 2019 and didn't continue or finish it.

I feel like it's easier and more fun reading stories in manhwa, manga, webtoon, etc. format because its easy to skip the tiny slice of life random fillers that they put between fight scenes, I think that's why I'm like Scarra and prefer reading because I always end up not continuing the anime💀😭😭Kinda wish more adaptations would just put all the main important parts of the story together and just make mini seasons or do what JJK does and put mini fillers at the end of the episode
