Peter, check out the 2018 remake of Legend of the Galactic Heroes (subtitled as "Die Neues These"). Same story with modern art and animation and music. Highly recommend if the old animation is too old for you.
There are differences but it's still worth watching but I don't think people will fully understand why the original is regarded as the GOAT by many if they just watch the new one
The original is something else the remake is good I’ll give them that (and I believe it does one or two things better) but the 1988 ova is one of the craziest things I’ve ever seen
Scarra and Peter hating on Steins Gate is evoking the same emotion that your grandparents being racist does. I like you guys, so why are you paining my heart so bad 😭
I sometimes understand how people call the first 9 episodes of Steins;Gate slow, but calling episode 1 boring is mind blowing to me. We find a corpse / someone that was just murdered with a stab wound and at the end of the episode that person is alive again. How is that not an interesting setup?! Also calling the Steins;Gate characters annoying but not having an issue with Edward Elric is insaaane haha
About the new Bleach - they add some scenes that were omitted in the manga due to time constraints at the time of publishing but is mostly the same as of the current episodes. You won't get a rewritten story but it's a damn fun and good-looking action show and it's still hype as fuck (I'm biased)
These are some spicy takes, and I’m all for it haha! I don’t agree with some of them, but at the end of the day, we are all different ppl with different interests and I respect that.
Pog new episode. And I have to say, scarra is just wrong to stop at the best part of vinland saga. The gore in the dreams and peace at the farm is so good.
I finally met another fan of Ping Pong the animation!! I fkn love that show! One of my favorite of all time! I’m so glad Scarra is giving it the love it deserves!
Oh my god. Emma was mentioned!! That was such a good anime. Never read the manga, but that one absolutely got me in the heart strings. The opening music still immediately rings in my ears when I think of it. So good. ... I had no idea that A Bride's Story was made by the same person. It's actually really good too. Such a good mangaka.
50:56 full metal alchemist was vibes ngl - but you know how you guys dislike endings of shows and anime’s stiens gate is one of those anime’s where the ending is perfect where the entire anime builds up to the ending it’s like a trance song that’s building up over time over 23 episodes
Whoa, PP's a Kaoru Mori fan, had not expected that. Her detailed art in Otoyomegatari/Bride's Story is so insane. She makes a piece of flatbread look like a museum exhibit, it's crazy.
As a fan of Bleach (anime only) I see why some people dropped it in the start of the Hueco Mundo arc as it is similar to the Soul Society arc. The fullbring arc fell flat because it followed up the conclusion of the arrancar arc. That being said, the fullbring arc did a good job of showing Ichigo's character as he not only had to deal with being powerless (literally and figuratively) from being able to help his family and friends, but the despair he goes through when everyone in his life has been brainwashed and turned against him. It just made the pay off of him getting his powers back so much better.
A recommendation for a wholesome manga is yotsuba. It follows a 5 year old kid who discovers life with a great surprising cast. It’s funny and almost always has a feels good ending
I dropped Steins;Gate after one episode but I kept hearing how good it was, so I gave it another shot and was glad I did. In the beginning, you have to be OK treating it like a slice of life anime with a cast of weirdos.
I never knew you guys could be so based. Silver Spoon and Fullmetal Alchemist were indeed both incredible, but I too loved Silver Spoon more. As for Kaoru Hana, if you really liked how they communicated, you should really watch Skip and Loafer!
scarra talked about hakari getting introduced soon and i burst out laughing. as a jjk stan that was a moment i was like "nah i'm skipping the text i can just tell the power is `win out` or `better luck next time`"
Gintama has a slow start but it is necessary to get familiar with all the characters. The appeal of Gintama is that the comedic moments make you invested in the characters so when the serious moments occur, you fall in love with them. Also Sugibro, the seiyuu of Gintoki, is the GOAT.
I liked black clover for the first 100 chapters, afterwards I pushed myself through the next 100 chapter hoping it will get good again but after a while I just didn't bother reading it again. I guess you can say it also suffered from power creep
Wow, it's so interesting to hear fake fans opinion on the MAL list. Might as well continue this to the #20 until #50 or #100. So many good animes are there!
Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood is also my number one. I think the first episodes of Fullmetal Alchemist (not Brotherhood) are a little better than the first episodes of Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood. But overall Fullmetal Alchemist brotherhood is so grate. The old Ghost In The Shell (1995) is one of my favorit movies of all time. I have just revisit Avatar the last airbender (it is still good), Neon Genesis Evangelion (it is fine) and I watched Blue Eye Samurai (surprisingly good, for adults only). So I am on a roll🥰. Maybe it is time for Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood again.
For Gintama, the anime wasn't that fun at the first 50 episodes (the comedy felt like it was only made for Japanese) then it gets its first serious arc and its comedy becomes way more fun (becomes the GOAT anime). The best thing production of Gintama did, was splitting the anime into seasons, so its later seasons have high rating.
Legend of the Galactic Heroes is one of the best animes ever to exist. If you love the politics of early game of thrones, then you won't be able to stop watching
I lol'd but I disagree. Trash Taste guys are anime hipsters that only let themselves like something when few people know about it, and if a show is already popular they want nothing to do with it. Shows get popular for objective reasons. I just want a show that acknowledges that.
Pausing in the middle again, because Scarra my dude, Hinamatsuri is indeed the BEST comedy anime I've also watched! Just absolutely based take on that one. I'mma watch the rest now :]
Ascendance of a Bookworm light novel has some of the best world building - it's anime isn't as well polished and not the most accurate adaption for part 2 (season 2 & 3 for the anime), but the 3rd part will get adapted soon by WIT studio (animated AOT, ranking of kings, spy x family, vivy to name a few) which hopefully will follow the source material closer
I really enjoy romance manga but the drama can get too much sometimes like the main characters finally getting together after nearly 100 chapters but they nearly brake up for the dumbest reasons. So something like Hana Kaoru with no drama is so nice to enjoy a series about an unrealistic healthy relationship.
I'm not gonna shill too much about Gintama but it's my favourite anime of all-time cause the voice acting is god-tier. The voice actors truly made this series shine and elevate all the random crap they have to act out 🤣
Let's see if they are still talking about anime 200 episodes in 😋. Trash Taste deserves the playful jabs, but I understand their need to mix in varying content.
So interesting because I actually dropped aot twice in the first season and I only finally got into it when my friend told me about the political intrigue
The way scarra felt about hana kaoru is kinda the way I felt about the great cleric. I always thought there is going to be a really bad plot twist coming but no, this is just a feel good anime lmao
It's funny how at just about every crossroad of information they encounter and discuss they decide on the exact wrong fact direction 😂. Ya can't even get annoyed about it either with the title "Fake Fans." Well played. FWIW, Peter was not wrong when he recalled Alluka as Killua's brother. Varying characters refer to Alluka as the brother, although Killua refers to Alluka as his sister. The official databook lists Alluka as male. I interpreted this as the mangaka author subtly writing in a gender identity story in the sub-text, as it might not be received well in conservative Japan if made blatant and obvious. I like to think Alluka was born male, then used her power to make changes to reality so that she became the sister she felt she was inside.
You got it mixed up a bit; The brothers in FMA tried to bring their mom back and, as part of the backfire, the elder brother lost an arm and a leg, and the younger brother lost his entire body. Older bro used his blood to bind his brother's soul to a suit of armor
Almost. Ed just lost his leg from the backfire. He sacrificed his arm to bind his brother's soul to the armour. Which is why in the finale SPOILER Al sacrificed his soul to get Ed's arm back.
The thing about steins;gate IMO since i watched long time ago was you need to know that half of the series just the built up of what's gonna happen in the last half of the series because the last half of it was just pure intensity of the consequences that happened because of it. Also the science adventure series just like that most of the time the occultic;nine, robotic;notes, chaos;head also had that same pacing you guys should watch it or play the game if you like VN games
When Steins Gate came out the number of anime being released is not as many as today, I think thats a big factor of why people were able to give it more patience. also people were younger.
any steinsgate fan will say the first 8-9 eps are painful, you need to get to like ep 11 before it gets interesting. the last 10 eps are the reason it is where its ranked
Steins;Gate is essentially written as a long movie. The first 10 episodes of so is just build-up, the same way how a good thriller movie is just build-up the first act.
As a steins;gate fan, no they aren't painful. They're slower and take their time building the characters and story, sure. But saying it like that is a disservice. The only reason the second half is so good is because of the first half.
37:10 Alluka is a trans girl! All the other Zoldycks refer to her as a "son" or "brother", and Killua (who's the only one that actually respects her and treats her as a person) is the only one who refers to her as his sister.
Few Bleach counter take : # Fullbringer arc is one hell of a masterpiece in bleach lore .....just because it has completely switched from continuous action to a psychological drama which explores and develops the character of Ichigo in his most vulnerable state doesn't necessarily make it worst tbh 😕 # Bleach originally did not end with Fullbringer arc , wdym it was originally supposed to end there ? The OG anime just went on a indefinite 10 year hiatus after the adaptation of TYBW which was completed in 2016 ..... Bleach hasn't ended yet there is still a lot to explore as Kubo has introduced with the one shot " No breaths from hell " which is a potential continuation
so to clear things up on bleach manga the author was getting axed. So he had to rushed the ending I think it was 3 months to finished the series. also the original anime ended at the fullbring arc.
Ginga Eiyuu Densetsu is wonderful. Legitimately. It's long, but it's a fantastic space opera. There's key moments in there that pay off emotionally so well. Gintama is the funniest anime I've ever watched. The first couple episodes didn't do it for me, but it got way better. I'm of the same mind as Peter about Attack on Titan. It crashed and burned at the end. Steins;Gate was good and has some memorable aspects, but I wouldn't necessarily put it in the top ten. But clearly it has a timeless quality to it if it's still that highly rated. Maybe if I rewatched it I'd reevaluate it even higher than I did previously, which was pretty high to begin with. FMA:B is deserving up there. It may not be the absolute favorite of most people, but it is probably considered great by the most people. Even if other anime get more 10s, they usually also get more 5s or even 1s than FMA:B. It is so universally regarded as good that it deserves that spot. I've read Frieren up to a point (and set it down as I focused on other things). Maybe I need to re-read it from the beginning to reevaluate it more accurately since I don't really get why it's so highly rated. If there's one that I can think of that deserves to be in the top ten, I suppose I'd say Monster. It's legitimately so fucking good.
Naruto nails its final moments better than Bleach. Like it thematically comes together better. Ending on a Naruto vs Sasuke fight. But the build up to that climax was a slow, drawn out, pain. Even in the manga it's pretty slow. We really didn't need a "greatest hits" of all the villains? I like Zabuza and Haku, but like...did they need to return? Bringing Nagato back actually felt more like a slap in the face to his death. But Bleach definitely paces itself better leading up to that final moment, but then...it really fumbles the ball...or more like it just...loses the ball...what even was the ball? Oh and as Scarra mentioned. The power scaling lost itself way too quickly. Right from the beginning of the arc. (Hey that ties into one of the things I really liked about Fullbring)
Knowing Pete is addicted to romance mangas and animes warms my heart. That's it, there's no punchline. As for recommendations, just for Peter, I would recommend a revisit to my all-time hood classic of the romance genre: Chobits. Both manga and anime. Clamp used to be my goat as an elementary kid; some of their works faded over time for me, but not Chobits. I believe someone as into manga/anime as you two would not NOT know Chobits.
14:56 Boruto was never that bad in the first place the only thing it got hated on was because 1st: It continued the existence Otsutsuki (duh Naruto already ended the war of shinobi) 2nd: its not about Naruto and Sasuke anymore 3rd: Naruto fans just want Naruto 2 Theres no such thing as bad writing, bad mc, bad bad it was a matter of just fans and "Give us more Naruto"
Robotech is Macross ..... Well, living up to the podcast name I guess. Also not a remake at all but they are changing things because people HATED the ending to the arc and the worst arc is actually the Bount Arc.
Why? Because someone else said they didn't enjoy it? These guys couldn't recognize a great show because of their limited attention span. There's a reason it's so highly rated. Just watch it.
Steins;gate first 10 episodes was definitely a slugfest. I watched it a decade ago and I dont know how I persevered through 10 episodes. At the time I didnt even know that the first half was a drag, I went in watching it with 0 knowledge about the show. Not to hype to much, because hype often leads to disappoint, but it definitely gets good on the second half. I dont if it is because I watched it as a teen, but steins;gate left a huge impression on me. I still remember the op to this day
Full Metal Alchemist OG anime is better than FMAB, but not by a ton. *SPOILERS* Even tho it's not as true to the Manga, the plot is a lot more complete, to me... the idea of the gate is more fathomable as an alternate universe rather than "the truth" or what I assume is supposed to represent the greater existence/universe/god. HOWEVER, it's -.1 point bc you need the movie to fully complete the series in a meaningful way. But then +.05 bc the drawing style doesn't have as cartoonish expressions or spatial expressions. FMAB relies on these for comic relief where FMA doesn't and keeps me better immersed in the plot. Also, it's lazier animation, it my opinion. And +.03 because Winry x Edward in the OG is SO MUCH MORE REWARDING WITH THE MOVIE CONCLUSION. Total = 9.99/10 for FMA ദ്ദി(˵ •̀ ᴗ - ˵ ) ✧ Total =9/10 for FMAB ≽^•⩊•^≼ ACTUALLY, FMA also has some of the best fucking fighting animations known to anime history. Personally, I think even better than the fight Scarra mentioned. Brings it to an easy 10/10 for me. Exhibit A th-cam.com/video/yS3Qg1JmKNc/w-d-xo.html Exhibit B th-cam.com/video/oPg1J79sgkQ/w-d-xo.html (THE FUCKING OPENING EVEN) Exhibit C th-cam.com/video/VEkFTs21ONU/w-d-xo.html (MAJOR SPOILERS)

Peter, Emma IS literally Jane Austen (Pride and Prejudice)

Boruto was never that bad in the first place the only thing it got hated on was because
1st: It continued the existence Otsutsuki (duh Naruto already ended the war of shinobi)
2nd: its not about Naruto and Sasuke anymore
3rd: Naruto fans just want Naruto 2
Theres no such thing as bad writing, bad mc, bad bad it was a matter of just fans and "Give us more Naruto"
Please make a reaction to the top 10 manga 🗣🔥
steins gate was on my watchlist but after their review im confused pls help
Just watch it
Don't listen to these idiots. If you don't have the attention span of a goldfish, you'll enjoy it
Just commit through the slow burn; it's only twenty four episodes.
Robotech is Macross ..... Well, living up to the podcast name I guess. Also not a remake at all but they are changing things because people HATED the ending to the arc and the worst arc is actually the Bount Arc.
i imagine i couldnt watch steins gate now. I dont really even want to try honestly.
Why? Because someone else said they didn't enjoy it? These guys couldn't recognize a great show because of their limited attention span.
There's a reason it's so highly rated. Just watch it.
this podcast is amazing, they talk more about anime and manga in 2 eps than trash taste in 199 !
Too bad their opinions are dogshit
i wanna drop a comment here for scarra, i remember him introducing frieren before it boom from anime...so scarra is definitely a "Fake Fan"
Romance anime is my fave genre too!! Peter you are my spirit animal!!! 😂😂
my top ten would include ttgl, cowboy bebop, monster, and evangelion
The Couple Breaker
Gintama definitely grows on you. nowadays audiences want the first episodes to be action packed bangers to get hooked.
I also can't get into Stein's gate.. I dropped it after episode 2
you must record it so long ago if frieren has only 9.14. it's on 9.39 right now xD
its already been a week since episode 1??
already been a week since i commented this shit??
Steins;gate first 10 episodes was definitely a slugfest. I watched it a decade ago and I dont know how I persevered through 10 episodes. At the time I didnt even know that the first half was a drag, I went in watching it with 0 knowledge about the show. Not to hype to much, because hype often leads to disappoint, but it definitely gets good on the second half. I dont if it is because I watched it as a teen, but steins;gate left a huge impression on me. I still remember the op to this day
i need episode 3.
Full Metal Alchemist OG anime is better than FMAB, but not by a ton.
*SPOILERS*
Even tho it's not as true to the Manga, the plot is a lot more complete, to me... the idea of the gate is more fathomable as an alternate universe rather than "the truth" or what I assume is supposed to represent the greater existence/universe/god.
Total = 9.99/10 for FMA ദ്ദി(˵ •̀ ᴗ - ˵ ) ✧
Total =9/10 for FMAB ≽^•⩊•^≼
ACTUALLY, FMA also has some of the best fucking fighting animations known to anime history. Personally, I think even better than the fight Scarra mentioned. Brings it to an easy 10/10 for me.
