    Thanks for this. We currently have two radians, one forward facing behind me, one rear facing in the middle in our Pathfinder, so we can fit a person next to them without clambering over a child seat! It looks like we might have to wait for the little one to be forward facing before we go to a Y.
    We do have a GB Pockit + stroller, which would fit in the frunk or under the trunk really easily.

    Great video, super helpful, we have two Diono seats currently rear facing in a 2019 Sante Fe. Interior dimensions are nearly identical, rear facing just sucks in anything but a van or supercab truck, sedans and cuv just don’t have the wheelbase. Excited to Turo one of these once they come to Hampton Roads

    This is great, thanks for doing it. On the Diono, for forward facing, there’s a lever on the bottom side that can be dropped to angle the whole seat back a bit. Does this work in combination with the rear seat recline to give the car seat a more reclined angle?

  • @RozeAbove
    @RozeAbove 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    FOR ANY PARENTS WATCHING: I have had 2 Diono Radians in my car for both of my little ones and that was in a Nissan Altima. They sell a seat angle adjuster that creates more room for situations exactly like this for $15 bucks. I will say this, I typically install my rear facing seat in the middle position so as to best protect my youngest, most vulnerable child. The car seat just goes neatly between both seats in a way, and allows for more front passenger room. I now have both of their seats forward facing so it's no longer an issue, but just fyi. Any seasoned parent knows that Graco simply does not compare to a Diono in crash testing. When you pick up and feel each car seat in your hands, you'll understand.

  • @flipadavis
    @flipadavis 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    @3:52 You can see that you would have at least some more leg room for the passenger if you tilted the seat more upright to be as vertical as the driver's seat is. Then you could slide it back a little. It would be a trade off; sitting more upright but having slightly more legroom. Doesn't magically make more space but at least you could extend your legs a little more.

  • @enlovelee
    @enlovelee 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    If reclining the back seat caused the car seat to actually take MORE space, then you should try doing the opposite -- un-recline the back seat so that the car seat is reclined less, and takes less space.

    Great video.
    I'm considering upgradeing/trading in my Model 3 for the Y because I want my daughter, who is in a booster seat, to have more leg room.
    Her legs are not long enough to reach under the drivers seat. I'm driving at 6'2" and have the seat all the way back. She currently has to have her feet pigeon toe'd to sit behind me and her older brother is on the other side behind my wife.
    I think that the Model y has a couple/few extra inches in between the rear seat platform and the drivers seat when the drivers seat is fully slid back - I hope.
    The local dealership doesn't have any I can just sit in so its hard for me to test.

      Me, too! I can fit a single or even a double umbrella stroller (such as MacLaren's Twim Triumph) in my Model 3, but it greatly reduces the amount of luggage space, so in practice, my stroller goes on the floor under the kids' feet. In contrast, in my Highlander, I can fit the double stroller or a single Graco travel system parallel to the to the rear seats, thus preserving most of the luggage space. It will be interesting to see how all that fits in the Y. (Thank you, Raj, for showing us what you have so far!)

    I was hoping that when you were getting the dimensions in the rear of the car I was hoping that you would have given the dimension from the ground to the height of the lift gate that you never covered in your last video. I'm 6'4" and wanted to know what to expect with the height, also is that Model Y yours, you never said if it was?

      Oh good point! I’ll get that measurement for you. Based on what I remember it doesn’t open that high to accommodate 6’4” but I’ll confirm. Also the vehicle is not mine it’s a friends. After I sell my 3 I’ll get the Y
