Lets all take a moment to recognize Jun for his outstanding accomplishment of supporting me without complaint while I shopped for clothes for 3 1/2 hours!
This is a special type of thrift store (古着屋/furugiya, meaning old 古 clothes 着 store 屋) known as mai shuu sagaru (毎週下がる). 毎 means "every" 週 means "week" and 下がる means "lowers." The price on all clothing items lowers every week through a set schedule. This type of thrift store is the lowest end where brand clothes that can't be sold in higher end thrift stores are taken, and all other inexpensive clothing are sent for the purpose of super quick resale. The lowest price in this particular 毎週下がる古着屋 is only ￥100 (~$1).
You will also see 毎週下がる written out partially or completely in katakana: マイシュウサガール.
The store in the video is the マイシュウサガール branch of 買取王国 (kaitori oukoku): okoku.jp/
I am an admitted thrift store shopaholic in both America and Japan! My family didn't have the money to buy me new clothes growing up so I began shopping at thrift stores for myself as a teen. I would say that 90% of my clothes, shoes, and accessories have come from these stores. I LOVE thrift stores because it is like treasure hunting and they're so cheap!! Japanese thrift stores are especially incredible because the clothes are almost all young and fashionable compared to America where in the low-end thrift stores you have to dig through a sea of old people things to find anything decent! Almost everything I've worn in all of my videos have come from thrift stores. :) "Thrifting" as it's called is also great since you're having a positive impact on the environment by recycling and avoiding purchasing new products. I highly encourage everyone visiting Japan to seek out a mai shuu sagaru thrift store! Don't be intimidated by the thought of small Japanese sizes--there are plenty of larger and baggy clothes to be found as well. :)

@@xxvorlandxx52 They used to be pretty great, the problem is the quality of things *new* went down so much that almost anything decent and practical ish from recent times will often have fallen apart, pretty much, before it gets through any donation cycles. Kinda cause Walmart. I'm not too worried about 'fashionable' but especially since I live in a region where the climate is hard on clothes, and stuff much *my* style for fancy things never was a thing here, so solid stuff's hard to find. At least that I actually find cool.

Actually some vintage thrift stores and regular thrift stores I go to here in GA are pretty clean and the stuff is well kept.
I actually thought it was dirtier than ours. I typically go to goodwill, those are really clean and open.

That's his actual name, haha :D He just typically has foreigners call him Jun since it's easier.

There are a lot of men's names which basically tell the order they were born in, like their names include a number. Ichirou for example is a man's name and has the "ichi" for number one. But even if a name has the "ichi" part, it might not be written with the kanji for number one and it might have nothing to do with the number one.
Though, I would suspect that his name is Junichi as in Jun-one giving his name the double meaning of "my first son".
I laughed so hard near the end of the video when jun found rachel because it reminded me of my sister who is coincidently also called rachel and shes always wandering off in thrift stores and i can really relate with jun.

Oh! I LOVED shopping in Japanese thrift stores. They are so different from American thrift stores. I found a ton of cool stuff there. And thank goodness my Japanese fiancé was so patient with me while I tried on clothes just like your man. : )

Yuki Bara Maybe it's your area? In the thrift shops where I am, the lowest I've seen is 99¢, with the highest being 14$ (mostly for really *really* nice things, like; TVs, large paintings, and other fancy stuff like that).
For me, the things I've bought are nearly always within the range of 99¢ to 10$, and I think they're all very nice things--then again; I normally buy knickknacks, not clothes...
