Absolutely right there is no gasket in the part list but some, or early models had gaskets behind the oil pump. I measured the clearence and decided to mount one. Somewhere i found a part number. Can´t remember where...
@@Mandricity OK - cheers! - it seems that the more powerful oil pumps require a gasket. BTW why do you place a piece of aluminium plate across the front 2 barrel studs before you tighten the case screws?

Excellent videos, and a professional build, thanks for sharing ! I am currently rebuilding a '86 SRX600 engine. This engine is 99% similar to a XT600 engine from the same period. I am changing the SRX gearbox for a XT gearbox ( 47N model ) because of damaged 4th and 5th gears on the SRX. However my donor XT gearbox input shaft 1st gear has quite "pointy" or sharp tooth edges compared to all other gears on both the SRX and XT gearbox. I suspected my 1st gear on the input shaft was worn out. However i noticed in your video your input shaft 1st gear also has pointy/sharp tooth edges ( you can clearly see this when you put the gearbox back in the crank case ). It's looks exactly the same as my XT input shaft. However my SRX600 input shaft 1st gear has normal flat edges like all other gears. Do you perhaps know if Is this is normal for XT gearbox shafts ? All the XT inputshafts i´ve seen in my life had these toothedges so i think thats okay. But the ratio is different between XT and SRX, especially 5th gear...

No, all yamaha bike engine have the same number as on the frame (matching numbers) this engine i have here was a spare part (just housing) i guess.... normaly the dealer have to put in the number and have to put the old, damaged, housing in the scrap. But it is just a assumption...

Hello, what do you mean with "retentor"? I don´t know that word. Maybe you mean the whiper behind the balancer bearing, right? I put that in first and i don´t have it on video unfortunately. I have max 120 degrees C on the crankcase for mounting the bearings and that is no problem for all whipers because if the engine is working than it´s the same temp or even more... greetz from germany
Buddy when the crank case loosens up i dont how many hours you on it when you eill start it ,iys gonna sound like a rattle snake Lock tight to cover the slighest gap in a very shory it eill make yoi think twive on rebuilfing it Your torque wrentch needs a little more tension and as i said lock tight its not the right thing Is ths a 600 or 550 yaha kick start ?
Gedore for low torques and for higher torque a cheaper one. The range of the engine screws is appro. between 10-120Nm If you have one good quality 5-50 and one normal 50-200 then everything is covered
You´re right, I wasn´t aware of that and saw myself doing that while I looked at the video... Funny is, my clickwrench is not the cheapest one and I can normaly trust it 100%. I try to avoid that in future.

I´ve got a recently buyed 2004 TTRE with 8.000 miles on it , do you think necesary to change the crank shaft bearings an engine bearings and retainers with that mileage? It is your restored engine the exact same model as mine? Thanks for your excellent help from Madrid.
8000 miles could mean brandnew or totally worn out... It really depends on how it was used. If you have to open it for a reason then i recomment to change all bearings just because it´s not more than 60 euros...

@@Mandricity I did it by downloading the original service manual. Well, I meant... you're screwing with a dynamometric key, so the key can set the Nm of the screwing strength... google it to traslate, man ;)

Please tell me how you warming and/or freezing parts during assembly. Did you use heat-gun or oven? Any other tips which help to assembly bearings with shafts so smooth?
Preheat to and retain at 100 degrees with an oven in your kitchen. Put the case halves in the oven for about 10-15 mins...do it cautiously by doing one case halve at a time, check on your case temperatures to prevent from overheating and make sure you use heat gloves to handle your cases...lay your bearings out on the kitchen table so it's ready to install once the case is out from the oven. Be calm when dropping the bearings into the housing, one at a time, install all your bearings by putting your two fingers in the ID of the bearing and drop them in squarely. If the case cools down, just put it back in the oven for another 5 mins and the temp shall rise again for you to install the rest of the bearings. These XT600 cases tend to chew up the bearing housings due to the soft characteristics of the aluminum castings. It won't hurt by putting a small amount of the bearing retainer on the bearing prior to installation.
I´m using an old kitchen oven at 120 degrees C. the bearings I cool down with a carbon dioxide fire extinguisher. Outside the workshop! In a little box with rags.
At how many Nm do you use your wrench for the bolts and nuts inside the engine? Very nice work by the way! My engine is already taken apart and ready to rebuild. If you like, watch my video of my previous restoration of an XT 600 2KF (white/red), you will like it ;-).
30 years ago it was indeed a recommendation. With modern linings it´s not necessary. By the way the clutch is working properly... Anyway thanks for your comment!

Na siehste Dani, das ist doch jetzt mal eine konstruktive Antwort von dir. Hätte ich mir gleich gewünscht anstatt erstmal loszupoltern, und dann auch noch mit einem guten Link. Danke. Hab ich mir angesehen und auch was gelernt. Das man so extrem das Drehmoment überschreiten kann wenn man wie ein Irrer über den Punkt zieht ist schon derbe... Ich hab in den letzten 25 Jahren über 20 von den Motoren gemacht und noch nie ein Gewinde versaut, so verkehrt kann ich´s also nicht machen. Da ich seit 30 Jahren in der Technik arbeite hab ich auch ein gutes Gefühl entwickelt wann und wo der Punkt der Auslösung sitzt, vor allem wenn man mehrere hundert M6 Schrauben in dem alten porösen Alu angezogen hat. Die alten Alu/Magnesium Legierungen sind brüchig wie Keks. Hätte ich da 50% mehr Drehmoment gegeben dann wäre ja schon mindstens ein Gewinde kaputt gegangen. Also danke nochmal für deinen Beitrag und immer eine gute Fahrt mit deinem Moped.

Why enter the bearings in the crankcase so loose?
because the crankcase were heated up to 100-120 degrees and the bearings
came direct from the fridge -20 degrees
At how many NM you set the wrench - 10:15 and 12:30 ?

It´s a aluminium metalsheet between balancer weight and crankshaft. I put it in at 8:47

What if I installed the last clutch's plate (the one with springs on) not aligned with marks? May be damaging the clutch? XT600 2KF (2KN)
No, you don´t damage it but the clutch won´t work and is permanent open.

Flutschen würde ich nicht sagen aber sie gehen rein. Innenringe mit´m Fön anwärmen kann helfen.

Great work! The only thing I see wrong is that it looks like you don't soaked the clutch plates in engine oil.

11:27 and 11:35 you could see it...
That is standard lubrication, what I meant to say is that as far as I know you should soak the clutch plates overnight prior to installation.
30 years ago it was indeed a recommendation. With modern linings it´s not necessary.
By the way the clutch is working properly...

Du weist eindeutig nicht, wie man einen Drehmomentschlüssel richtig verwendet. Theoretisch könntest du so auch alles mit nem Akkuschrauber festknallen.
Da gebe ich dir absolut Recht! Ich bin ja, wie man sieht, sowieso ein absoluter Pfuscher. Da ich aber
immer gerne von echten Profis lerne, hab ich mal auf deinem Kanal nachgesehen.
Und was finde ich da? Nichts. Garnichts...

Dort wird wirklich gut erklärt wie man seine Drehmomente mit der falschen Handhabung kaputt macht.

gewünscht anstatt erstmal loszupoltern, und dann auch noch mit einem guten Link. Danke.
Hab ich mir angesehen und auch was gelernt. Das man so extrem das Drehmoment überschreiten
kann wenn man wie ein Irrer über den Punkt zieht ist schon derbe...
Ich hab in den letzten 25 Jahren über 20 von den Motoren gemacht und noch nie ein Gewinde
versaut, so verkehrt kann ich´s also nicht machen. Da ich seit 30 Jahren in der Technik arbeite
hab ich auch ein gutes Gefühl entwickelt wann und wo der Punkt der Auslösung sitzt, vor allem
wenn man mehrere hundert M6 Schrauben in dem alten porösen Alu angezogen hat. Die alten
Alu/Magnesium Legierungen sind brüchig wie Keks. Hätte ich da 50% mehr Drehmoment gegeben
dann wäre ja schon mindstens ein Gewinde kaputt gegangen.
Also danke nochmal für deinen Beitrag und immer eine gute Fahrt mit deinem Moped.
