  • Yamaha XT 600 engine disassembly part 2. As you can see I had some trouble removing the flywheel. The first (cheap) puller I used was not strong enough.

What flywheel puller did you use?

The bad one was a cheap one from HBM, the one that works is from YAMBITS.

@@jh-tech5546I’m going to be pulling my fly wheel for an xt 600s. So no starter in mine. But it’s a 1986 so it’s old. Internals look fine and still runs good. Any tips on pulling it? I have a rubber mallet. Would it be an issue hammering the wheel with it. Honestly any reassurance would be nice. I’ve been reading it sometimes takes guys a month to get the damn thing off so I’ve been shitting bricks thinking about getting it started. My timing chain has a tick and it’s the only reason I’m doing it all lol

I have the puller. Impact gun. Even got a cover for the threads. I just want to know how hard it was for u and what to expect/ avoid to prevent needing a new fly wheel or crank. Anyway I’ve watched ur video like 8 times now lol

@@gongusdeedeetow1510 Hi. It was hard as you could see. Important to use a good strong puller. With the first cheap puller it didn't work at all. Too much flex in the puller. With the second one it worked but was still after using the impact gun on the puller bolt. I would not recommend using any hammer. And make sure you protect your crankshaft thread. What I did was the nut on in reverse and a steel plate between the puller bolt and the nut flange. It might also help to quickly heat up the flywheel center (the part that is on the crank) right before using the puller. Good luck.
