This entire Witcher 3 game was both the main story and the two DLCs, each with three endings, and the theme of Witcher 4 was based on the ending where Ciri is saved and becomes a Witcher, not based on her death or becoming king.
This was my first ending, and it is surprisingly easy to get if you're not familiar with the game and its characters. I'm *really* looking forward to Witcher 4
If you recall. Witcher 3 starts off with a different play experience if you have saved games of Witcher 1 and 2 on your profile. Depending on your choices in the first two games, Witcher 3 will be adapted. Like if you killed Letho for example. If you don’t have saved games of Witcher 1 and 2 on your profile, then you are “interrogated” by General Voorhis to provide context on some key points that will guide some of the playthrough. I wonder if CDPR will do the same thing in Witcher 4, based upon the ending you had in Witcher 3 saved on your profile.
If they allow starting from different paths, I don't think they will release all paths at the same time. More likely one path on the release date, and then adding additional paths as DLC
No, it will be like Ciri is telling her story to someone in the starting of the game and then you choose the option, what happened in the past. Just like Geralt told about 'the death of the king from Witcher 2' to the person who was shaving his beard in the castle.
@@xdasoftonic6350 Are you an active dev in this project that you are so confident about it? Ciris ending were so different from each other that you cannot really write a single story with certain differences.
@@marcin7928 look man, it's just simple logic. We know for sure that Ciri has become a Witcher. From now on, it will be about her. We are witnessing about 7-10 years after witcher 3. So, with the different endings in the witcher 3 will be covered in these 7-10 years timeline from Witcher 3. Based on our decisions we may meet Geralt in the game. Just like some players met Letho in Witcher 3 from the Witcher 2 based on our memories we chose from the option. I didn't kill Letho in Witcher 2 so I met Letho after I had a conversation with someone in game. The player who chose the option that he killed Letho, he wouldn't meet him later in the game. We didn't need DLC to have a quest with him.
@@xdasoftonic6350 Ok I see now the misunderstanding. I was referring to the ending where Ciri ends up an empress of Niflgard. That could be obviously a DLC, or a totally different game.
@@marcin7928 yes, it can be totally a different game. But think as it is her destiny to become a Witcher, whichever path she chooses, she becomes a witcher. 😊
This was my thought as well. It could start with her returning from the white mountain, or having to leave the Nilfgard Palace or just her starting Witcher training. All three time lines meet up when she gets "magically Ill" and only the Trial of the Grasses can help.... Maybe even connected to your last playthrough ending. Ive got all three endings.
and yet you get this ending because the cryptic dialog options dont say get drunk or have a snowball fight and you pick the drinking option, we'll just have to wait and see, cause idk if they're going to do a enhanced edition for W4 with save transfer so the begin of W4 back story for ciri would change, but i also think this is the best ending for W3 just cause you kill the last crone and get Vesemir medallion back, idk why they couldnt of done that with the witcher ending with ciri doing it but w/e the bad ending felt the best written and emotional
Who decided that empress ending is canon? It makes no sense in the story. Emhyr literally killed her mother, burned her home killing her gandma, chased herdeep into north killing anyone who took care of her, chased her out of safety of school (together with Vilgefortz but still) into a damn desert, to survive she had to join bandits. He took everything from her becouse he wanted to make a child with her. This is not someone she should be cool to talk with, not mentioning learning from him. More likely ending would be for her to resurface in north as lioness Cirilla and fight to get Cintra back
If true, I can’t wait to see how she became a Witcher after the Empress ending. I chose that ending because it felt the most grounded as a bittersweet ending, and that happy ending is a fairy tale in the Witcher world.
Ciri witcher ending - plain and simple, she become a witcher. Ciri empress ending - Morvran Voorhis coup d'État (in lore, he's emperor after Emhyr, by coup d'État), and Ciri runs/is released by Morvran after promise, she will "disappear". Ciri don't come back - she is disappointed with Geralt and the others, so she went her own way. And about her mutation? Maybe the new medalion is from the school, where witchers perfected mutation processes, so she could take them, even through she isn't a child, nor a boy (for girls, standard witcher trials were nearly 100% lethal, only cat school had some better results, but still it was much more dangerous for females than for males).
Friend, the fact that it is almost impossible for an adult to pass the herbal test is already denied by Avallac'h, when he is freed from Uma's body as I see it. It is also obvious that Ciri must go to another school to undergo the test. Vesemir the only one of the Wolf School who knew the secret part of the process is dead. (Sorry for any errors in the text, I used a translator 🙏😅).
@@karthikkumar6861 Read again - that's 2 different endings. Ciri-empress and Ciri-not comming back (the one, in which Geralt go to the swamps to kill last witch). I missed word "ending" in that one, so it can be little confusing, sorry.
I hope that the canon will have a good ending. Gerald has taught Ciri everything, and he is living a peaceful old age with Jennifer in the vineyards of Corvo Bianco.
I think the point of the video is that even on the Ciri might be dead ending it can still lead to Ciri being alive which leads to her being a Witcher. Just like the witcher ending but longer process. At least that's what the video here is showcasing.
CDPR will most likely have some way to port or pick certain choices you made in W3 carry over into W4, like all the previous games had. I trust their creativity and ability to make it all make sense. If it's one thing they're very good at, it's coming up with a story.
I like to think all these endings happened in a certain order; Ciri disappears and Geralt thinks she died, hunting down the witch. Then Ciri appears and decides to go to the emperor, seeing if that way of helping people is better, but ultimately decides to quit the court and returns to Geralt, where he gifts her the sword. A fun way to make all the endings canon and connected⚔️🕊️
The imply answer is that the Witcher ending is the most popular, with she becoming Empress being the second, you really not need to be a rocket scientist to figure that out. And why she pass the Trials of Grasses even that she had powers? Or had because she spend it all to stop the frost, the Ciri that could jump reality had depleted her powers, so she need a new source, I not think that was a walk in the park for her.
Im glad to have ciri as the mc but kinda weird how she got witchers power now. Kinda feel unnecessary to make ciri go trough the shady process to mutate into a witcher instead of just using her. Inter-dimentional magics. The girl is already the most powerful character in the whole series, she doesn't need witcher mutagens to be a witcher since she was clearly able to do the job in witcher 3.
GF recently completed it and I watched her play the ending. I never got this ending myself but it was cool to see it! At the very end I said you got the "bad" ending but after seeing how it played out, it seemed totally realistic given the circumstances (Ciri steps up after been treated like a child the whole game) and sure, Ciri disappears and Geralt gets depressed, but it definitely sets the next game up better tbh.
xLetalis suggested in one of his videos that it is possible that all three endings of The Witcher 3 are actually one big ending, the three stages of which follow each other at different time intervals. And the player only sees one part of this ending depending on the choices made during the game. Many things in the game indicate that this could be true. Of course, we will never know, or certainly not before the release of The Witcher 4.
Look at the time which passed at the very beginning of every ending in The Witcher 3. EVERY ending is canon. Every ending shows different time after the plot of the main game.
I think it’s possible that if Geralt died, Ciri’s personality will be somewhat different and more guilt-ridden. CD Projekt are known for these kind of details. Or she managed to retrieve him, but I don’t think their relationship will be the same again because Ciri pretty much broke Geralt’s heart when he thought she died, which appears to get him killed.
The problem is that ciri is an adult and not a child to go through the trials so canon wise ciri can never become a witcher but if she does it breaks the lore completely and that is the problem
Not necesarrly paths, but previous save choices to set up future events and dialogues. For example in w3 it could make Letho dead or alive. What if that conversation would be before any mention of Geralt to set up the relation
i actually thing this is THE cannon ending if u think about it. Geralt would never let ciri go trough the trial of grasses... so ciri survived the white frost in the tower and came back to find out geralt dead? and as a homage made herself a witcher?
@@MEGA7155you playing witcher series, not mickey mouse. This universe all about darkness, unfairness and sorrow. Geralt literally dies in the books, god damn it. Only a child will look through guides to choose "happy" ending. You make me cringe, child.
Seeing this makes me really happy because I was going through the comments section in the cinamatic asking questions about the endings of The Witcher 3, talking about how it doesn't makes sense since she could die in the game and such. The endings of The Witcher 3 were a big deal for many. Those and former decisions might be the reason I play The Witcher 4. Like I really want to see what happens when Ciri becomes the Empress or escapes the tower, etc. My point is I hope they don't go overlooked.
I think with those "fixes" they ruined this particular ending. There is no longer a "bad" or "good" ending, they are now all "good" because in all of them Ciri survives. And this means that it doesn't matter what decisions you make in The Witcher 3, because they all lead you to the same outcome - Ciri lives. And that's why now this ending, which was the saddest one, doesn't make the same impression as before.
I have high hopes for TW4. And I don’t agree with some peoples assessment that they “uglified” Ciri. Sure she’s aged a few years in the trailer, but she’s still objectively gorgeous.
they should made the trailer start from witcher 3 ending rather than making completely new trailer of witcher ciri just to show gaymer how grrrrlll boss looks like
I mean this may make sense but if they want to make mutliple plotlines like you say I'm more curious about how Ciri can stop being an empress and become a witcher.
"Developers added a swallow escaping from the elven tower in the picture"? Where? And WTF is a "swallow escaping"? More important, are you sure you are not seeing too much in a simple cutscene?
No, you have the wrong ending, it’s the one where Geralt tells Ciri’S father that Ciri is gone but she is alive and Geralt himself gives her a custom made silver sword and they both go to fight some low level monsters.
Any book experts know if there’s any biological/physical reasons why females couldn’t undergo the mutations? I always assumed it was more a matter of tradition not to subject little girls to the 90% fatality rate of the trial of the grasses.
So the worst ending is the obly one when you can slaughter this monster ? Damn, CD Project Red like to mess with us. Also, why would it have Ciri's medalion ?
It sounds like a far stretch: I mean, the silhouette looks to me more like a siren or a flying creature from the game. Swallow's tail often is split in two parts, or two curvy set of feather if an artist want to make it obvious it is a swallow. You can see how CDPR represents it as a symbol on walls of many quests (from the top of my head, the one with Keira Metz in the underground old elf ruins). So while your theory is appealing and somehow plausible, and thank you for making a video to underline this detail btw, I don't see in it a "on purpose" CDPR move, but rather a happy accident. I wish dev could confirm honnestly (for just the fun of knowing it).
False Geralt talks at the end of the cinematic of the Witcher 4, ciri is a Witcher in that also, let's be honest Geralt won't be killed of not yet, he's to iconic to die after 3 games,
i still cant wrap up my mind why ciri trade off elder blood power a lot weaker witcher power. also female adult surviving trial of the grasses doesnt makes sense

This entire Witcher 3 game was both the main story and the two DLCs, each with three endings, and the theme of Witcher 4 was based on the ending where Ciri is saved and becomes a Witcher, not based on her death or becoming king.
The Curse of Crows comic confirms the Witcher ending as the canon one
Its an interesting if somewhat convoluted theory, but never forget Okham's razor.
I wonder if CDPR will do the same thing in Witcher 4, based upon the ending you had in Witcher 3 saved on your profile.
how does this makes sense after witcher 4 release?
i’m still confused
I’ve played this 4 times and every time I chose the ending where Ciri becomes a Witcher. Therefore I’ve never encountered this scene.
I was under the impression that she couldn't go through the trial of grasses, but also didn't need to as she had funky magic abilities.
People are theorising that she lost most of her powers in the tower
I played on Nintendo switch, is there a way to upload my save somehow when the next game comes?
Why would she be disappointed in Geralt in empress ending
@@karthikkumar6861
Read again - that's 2 different endings.
The Witcher 4 trailer is based off the Witcher ending not the Ciri might be dead ending. That is just well kind of obvious
Good call, I had multiple playthroughs & never once noticed that. Talk about planning ahead.
That ending would be a good start for the Falka arc, which I think could be one of W4-6 endings.
Wasn’t this the ‘evil’ ending?
My first ending is when she becomes a Witcher
Of course, we will never know, or certainly not before the release of The Witcher 4.
i am so glad i got the witcher ending on my first playthrough lol this shit would have broke me
Look at the time which passed at the very beginning of every ending in The Witcher 3. EVERY ending is canon. Every ending shows different time after the plot of the main game.
is there setting video?
What if that conversation would be before any mention of Geralt to set up the relation
that's what i thought when they trying to make a world state according to your choices in the previous games
Thats not the game-canon Ending
We don’t know that
@@SandyCheeks1896it’s quite literally the bad ending 😂
i actually thing this is THE cannon ending if u think about it.
@@SeregaOrgan Still, that's the worst ending.
3:20 creepy Ciri on the rooftop, very subtle very demure
I noticed there's a problem in the sound of the last cutscene. Thought it was a bug from my game or some mod.
Yeah i Was thinking the same 3 Life path, one as Empress then one as venturing through different times, and then Witcher
"Developers added a swallow escaping from the elven tower in the picture"? Where? And WTF is a "swallow escaping"?
More important, are you sure you are not seeing too much in a simple cutscene?
Wait .... when does this happen? I don't remember that encounter.
its one of the endings where ciri and geralt dies
@@m7md_sadiq Ohh i was winging it and got the good ending. So that's why i missed it
2:06
Had too
How do you get this ending?
By selling ciri to emhyr
The best game I've ever played
That doesn't explain her new face tho...
dont you dare put in my mind that the canon ending is the bad ending :c
But doesn't Geralt die I this ending? They said he would make an appearance in w4
I think we gonna play geralt some time in the game and after ciri... Like witcher 3 where sometime you play ciri in story
3:18 who was that?
monsters
Good catch, I never noticed!
No, you have the wrong ending, it’s the one where Geralt tells Ciri’S father that Ciri is gone but she is alive and Geralt himself gives her a custom made silver sword and they both go to fight some low level monsters.
I’m excited I only play female characters sooooo I can buy a Witcher game finally!
Any book experts know if there’s any biological/physical reasons why females couldn’t undergo the mutations? I always assumed it was more a matter of tradition not to subject little girls to the 90% fatality rate of the trial of the grasses.
Females are biologically weaker than males? Also they took in orphans, boys became witchers and girls became sorceresses.
All Endings are CD Projekt Red Canon
Is Geralt supposed to die in this scene? It seems like he gave up.
TBH, this is the best ending
btw i dont why no one talking about the hooded figure on the house when he get back his silver sword from the corpse around 3:17
Because it isn't. It's either a ghoul or an alghoul.
@@GoyaCG ah okay but still the model is so dark i thought its a person lmao
You have to be absolutely evil to get this ending.
But does Geralt die here in this ending?
So the worst ending is the obly one when you can slaughter this monster ?
Damn, CD Project Red like to mess with us.
Also, why would it have Ciri's medalion ?
Ciri's medallion was stolen by the Crones the first time she encountered them. She barely escaped with her life after killing two of the Crones.
@nercksrule I forgot that, thank you
It sounds like a far stretch: I mean, the silhouette looks to me more like a siren or a flying creature from the game.
The asset was made more visible on purpose. I doubt they'd do that if it was just a siren
@@moonknightish Good point too.
Bro u re like 2 years late 😭🙏
Still not explaining ending with her as a ruler of Nilfgaard
everybody knew that, like for more than 1 year
… Nah, I’m just going to assume that the Witcher ending is canon and disregard the others as “What ifs”.
False Geralt talks at the end of the cinematic of the Witcher 4, ciri is a Witcher in that also, let's be honest Geralt won't be killed of not yet, he's to iconic to die after 3 games,
I had this end too... i mothered ciri to much i guess.
Dude that's lit!
This is the best ending. We don't need witcher 4.
What ? That trailer has nothing to do with this ending.
1:33 ....
i still cant wrap up my mind why ciri trade off elder blood power a lot weaker witcher power. also female adult surviving trial of the grasses doesnt makes sense
4 is coomiiing
My ciri got to be the witcher on my first playthrough after i finished it then 2 days later we got witcher 4 trailer 🎉
