      Ive worked in that situation.. its very tough because the real people who must be shouted at put poor agents as a shield.. i worked in costumer support in a very stressful service, everyday i got shouted at.. anxiety etc..

      I work at a travel agency and I've had to deal with customers worst than this. I had customers who rented cars without a driving license ... and then come cry and yell at my desk because the car rental company refused to give them the car. I've had a client get extremely mad because I called her husband instead of her, telling me that I was a whore and to leave her husband alone...

    I've been in this situation multiple times as a passenger and I'd never dream of yelling at the poor airline employees, it's not their frickin fault! They have zero control over flight delays and cancellations for crying out loud, it's beyond me that people would treat airline employees in this way without considering that the situation is shitty for them too!

      Actually, you seem to be unaware of this, but a customer is technically committing a Criminal offence if they end up becoming threatening or abusive to a representative…
      If it’s in person, then it comes under the Public Order Act..
      If it’s over the phone, it comes under the Telecommunications Act…
      So no, a customer cannot complain in whatever manner they wish, if they cross the line, they can be escorted away by the Police or security, and have their service cancelled…and I’ve seen this happen…

      xorinzor if you watch the full episode no one has the info it came through from traffic control that all flights were being grounded my friend works for tui same thing happens with them sales reps aren’t told the ins and outs they don’t have any access to money and 90% of the time if I flight gets cancelled from air traffic control there’s no reason other than “whether” given and because air traffic control isn’t apart of any airline they can’t request the information of request someone to come down and talk to everyone

    The joys of customer service. Where you get to deal with ignorant and angry people, which is a deadly combination.
    When you travel with an airline, you are at the mercy of the airline. Always travel with a cushion for the unexpected. Being angry and demanding with the frontline staff isn't going to get you anywhere but more frustrated and angry.

      Antiii Every airline over books its planes because it assumes that there will be passengers who miss or are late to the flight. This ensures that they always have a full plane. Of course the problem then arises when everyone who bought a ticket does show up.

      Well, as a former easyjet employee at barcelona airport, I can tell you that will not work either... The only reason passengers seemed to understand was when the cancellation was due to strikes or similar problemas (not related to easyJet, I mean).

    I'm an airline customer service agent, I've been in this position many times. It's a part of the job, if flights get delayed or canceled you've got a ton of stressed out and frustrated passengers who are all ready to take their anger out on you. You've got to be able to stay calm and not take it personal or you'll never last. Tougher job than people think.

I totally understand the passengers anger but can't they seperate the issue from the person just informing them of the issue? That poor man doesn't ever deserve to be spoken to in such away.       When people miss their flight it's fair to say that they should've allowed for more time... But in this situation I think it's a bit much to say they should've just gone a day earlier in case the airline fucked up. They could have work or simply not be able to afford an extra day out there, it's easy to judge from behind a keyboard but if you we're in their place you'd be just as pissed.

    I have found that as a last option, when dealing with stubborn customers who won't accept your answer, specially when you're just following orders and there's nothing you can do.. is to just ignore them, act like they're not even there. Eventually, they give up and go away. Works all the time.

    I’m an air traffic controller and when we put traffic management initiatives into place due to weather, which affects flights, and airlines cancel because of weather and regulations, it’s all in the name of SAFETY.
    We don’t do it to make people miserable. I wish there was a way to give these ungrateful asshats their own plane and say, “if you want to go, we have a flight right here ready for you to fly through extreme precipitation, severe turbulence, and life-taking conditions. Best of luck.”

    i flew out to fuerteventura in january 2013 ,an hour before the snow storms . when we arrived easy jet and ryan air refused to repatriate all holidaymakers to uk .they where all stranded . almost all of them came home on spanish airlines who had no problem flying .the problem with easy jet and ryan air is they wont take any risks .rightly or wrongly

I have been in hospitality business for many years and I hate when people think that you can just pull a plane, a full hotel room, or a rental car that's not available out of your ass. " I'm sorry sir that you can't get to barcelona, give me 5 minutes and I will go shit out a boeing 757 and get you on your way". Fucking people don't realize that it's not the reps fault that the airlines have cancelled till jan 1st. He's just doing his job and passing on information. I would of stood up and said "EVERYONE SHUT UP AND LISTEN TO WHAT I GOT TO SAY. THERE IS NO ROOM TO BARCELONA TILL THE 1ST. IT'S NOT MY FAULT. IT'S OUT OF MY CONTROL. IM SORRY YOUR PLANS WERE RUINED BUT AT THIS POINT I CAN'T HELP YOU" HAVE A GREAT DAY AND GO SMOKE A CIGERATTE, IT WILL CALM YOUR NERVES".
