THANK YOU BRILLIANT, I LOVE DE FALLA...MUSIC TO SIT DOWN AND CONSCIOUSLY CONCENTRATE ATENTION IN WHAT ONE'S LISTENING...NOT A LOT OF PEOPLE HAVE THE TIME AND WILL TO DO THIS...BUT SOME WE DO, THANKS AGAIN.
Ms. Meshulam's riveting performance of "Fantasia Baetica," is my favorite of this set of gorgeously wrought pieces, infused with follkloristic nationalism. About 10 years ago I tried to learn and perform "Fantasia Baetica," I have come back to this piece and find that I can finally perform it reasonably well; I dream of being able to memorize this and eventually performing it in public; it's so breathtakingly aesthetic, yet sadly obscure at this point in time and deserves a much wider audience. Thank you Brilliant Classics for this wonderful upload; inasmuch as I don't own a CD of it at present.
I have loved de Falla's very Spanish music since I learnt Ritual fire Dance' back in the '50s. A great encore piece anywhere. I enjoyed this collection thank you BC.
I purchased this CD set many years ago, and I have yet to tire of listening to it! The pianist always maintains a sense of wistfulness; there's no empty virtuosity.
I like your use of the word "wistfulness" This music is indeed great to listen to when one is feeling wistful. I often listen to music like this as I sit in a comfortable chair with a nice cup of coffee and enjoy being wistful. Thanks, Kurt.
@@paulheffron4836 yes, you hear that a lot nowadays in classical guitarists who’s only goal seems to play as fast as one can with technical virtuosity and no emotion nor poetry.
Maravillosa la música para piano de Falla. Sólo conocía alguna de sus obras para orquesta más famosas. Pero esta colección de piezas para piano me parece una joya.
Thanks, delightful n peaceful to listen this, best elegant piano music tune. Sounds good n light, peace and calm the mind n heart. Pretty nice piece for all! Infinite love!🎹🎶
I didn't think anyone could rival Larrocha's de Falla! Your subtle work with inner voices is fascinating! The fire and spirit is all there shrouded in even more mystery than Larrocha's work! And oh how I love those driving rhythms! WELL DONE!
Thanks for sharing that piece!. But I disagree with you since the song by De Falla it's called "homenaje de C. Debussy" , homenaje is Spanish for tribute, so I don't think he it is hiding his inspiration in that piece.
Very interesting music. He is a contemporary of Brazil's Chiquinha Gonzaga and his style, although a bit gloomier in mood, has quite an affinity with hers.
Gloomy?...Sorry, you not understand the Spanish or Catlonian. Moody says some selfishness. They are possibly joyful in their melancholy, but above all they are granite realists. Different as Villa Lobos is from Mopou or Gerhard. And pleas, do not get me wrong....I adore.so many Brazilian composers.
"Cancion" at 36:24 reminded me to "Goodbye Mr Rachmaninoff" from Katsaris (th-cam.com/video/-WlOh7FD6pM/w-d-xo.html) , that, at the same time, reminded me to Tchaikovsky - June (th-cam.com/video/3xLQW5rm92s/w-d-xo.html) 🤣
It is extremely unlikely that either Rachmaninov or de Falla copied from one another, but extremely likely that Katsaris copied from Rachmaninov (actually, I almost guarantee it).
Beautiful music, but with the Sombrero de Tres Picos, I almost get the impression the pianist has never heard the orchestra version. The touch, the articulation, and the amount of pedal make everything so mushy, that it completely loses the effect achieved by playing a string instrument. On the other hand, if you listen to Pollini with Petrushka, or Pogorelic with Gaspard de la Nuit, they succeed in making the complex harmonies and rhythms a bit more coherent... this is a great concept for an album, just a bad execution.
The surname is de Falia. Just like de la Cruz. In the alphebitical order it is written as Falla, Manuel de or Cruz, Juan de la because de or de la are generic.

@Miles Clark Thank you, signed up and it seems like a nice service :) Appreciate it !!
This is my first time to hear Manuel de Falla`s music. I really do like it! Thank you!
Big thanks for sharing de Falla 'spiano Literature, many, to me, so unjustifiably obscure. Thanks for educating and entertaining us.
Brilliant Classics NUMBER ONE!!!👏👏👏😍
A brilliant classic indeed !!
I love piano composers from all of Europe from that era but Spaniards composer produced a sound to me that allow me to go to a next world
There’s a lot of Moorish influence it sounds like. Some of the Melodie’s remind me of the sound of the muezzin’s call to prayer.
Also do listen to Iberia from Albeniz. Hearing that for the first time is a magical experience too!
OK if you come to Spain.. You'll understand.. Is magic!!
Gracias, gracias, gracias por éste auténtico viaje al cielo y viva este rincón del mundo llamado Andalucía... ❤
OK is the magic of Andalusia in the Sud of Spain. Other world

@@alfonsovillasandino2399 Let me apologize, I think that I may have confused the title of this piece with "Sanlucar de Barrameda" by Joaquin Turina.

@@paulheffron4836 Not sure what empty virtuosity means.
@@andrewpetersen5272 Empty virtuosity would be playing all the right notes with technical precision but without any emotional expression.

It's Falla not de Falla.
The composer's surname is "Falla", not "De Falla". In the phone book he would appear in the letter F, as "Falla, Manuel de ".

Why does Ritual Fire Dance sounds a bit like Back to the Future's theme music
