  • REMASTERED in 720p! From June 1992 at the 15th Sands Regency 9-Ball Open comes an Accu-Stats CLASSIC PLAYER REVIEW of a match between Buddy HALL and Grady MATHEWS - and BOTH players come back after the match review their own game! Buddy and Grady are so good on the mic, it could very well be called a "Hall/Mathews Instructional".
Yes, there are "spoilers" in the commentary, because they are critiquing their own play and mention what is coming up in the game. This is a true tool for learning the deeper strategies and game play of pool for two of the greatest!! Only on Accu-Stats TH-cam Channel! This is an Accu-Stats Treasure for sure!!

Grady was always the nicest guy I've ever met. I remember he was at a tournament here in town and a friend and I were getting ready to go out of town on a playing trip. Grady took us to dinner before we went. He had all these great one liners. We got to talking about marriage and he said "I don't get married. Every four years I just find a woman I don't like and buy her a house." As we were getting ready to leave we asked him if he any advice for us. He told us "bet low and kiss high."

Yea I agree, I met Grady a couple of years prior to this, I am not sure of exactly the year. He came to a grand opening of a pool room in Augusta where I was working on an out of town job. I went to that place almost every night. He played with everyone that wanted to for a game or more. I was told "let somebody else play".

These two great pool players were a pleasure to listen to. It doesn't hurt that they were very close friends either and that comes across in spades as they comment on their match. I was lucky enough to see Buddy play in person two times in the early 90's and I walked away extremely impressed with his playing ability. Grady was unlucky in this match with how the balls rolled after the break and then he compounded this bad luck by getting ticked off and shooting too quickly without enough thought. Grady's stroke was not dissimilar to the stroke Allen Hopkin's uses. I have not seen any other professionals that I can think of who use this type of stroke. They both have very short strokes but are still able to generate amazing power when they need it. Sometimes I wonder if shooting this way has advantages due to the fact that there is less to go wrong with the stroke. Listening to Grady was especially informative to me because his safety play was second to none or perhaps is second to Efren. RIP Thanks so much for posting this. The insights into the game of pool played by two of the best is priceless.
