  • We are felling a tree in the back yard. The tree is just a few feet from a power line & close to a propane tank. I made an error in the face cut

    It is amazing how well that little bit of wood will keep the stem from falling! It is truly astonishing. Your Saw seems to be proving to be a good work saw Mike! That is the best kind of build and you have accomplished that!

      I was surprised. I just knew it was going over then had to laugh when it stopped. Tree had a good lean to it but, i guess there was just enough to hold it.
      Thank you Mr Joe. That saw so far is a work horse. Just wont out run a 500i lol.

      Hey Chad. Hickory is great firewood. Ive got tons of those trees around this place. Lots of dead standing oak and hickory. Thanks for watching. Stay Safe.

    Hey Mike. That tree would have fallen to the ground with no problem at all if it was taller. The only problem I saw was no weight at the top to lay ot down. You know what you're doing buddy.

      Hey Mr Kenny. I didn't think about no top weight. That makes sense. I was scratching my head for a minute.

    Nice job! Pretty big trunk! I've got to clear some dead trees sometime soon.... half hoping they'll fall on their own!! But it would be safer to take them down myself! Good little project there! Best, -- J.Andre. / Old Iron Acres

      Hey J. Thanks. I know exactly what you mean i have a ton of standing dead oaks and hickorys. All large trees. My back can already feel the pain. Record when you cut em down ill be watching.

      Those where the ones i cut down in my back yard back in Nov/Dec. Definitely gonna make some wood.
      I'm going to try and start splitting that stuff up next week so i can get it off the ground.
      Those logs are why i need a log lift. I usually end up with big trees.
      Makes my back hurt thinking about it.
      I've got tons of dead standing oak and hickory close to the same size as these.

    Heck that was as good as it needs to be I cut trees for a living and I have seen some crazy stuff. As long as it goes where ya wanted it to go is all that matters lol.

    Always learning. I’ve been watching alot of Wilson Forest Lands on TH-cam and starting to think the Humboldt is an easier cut to line up property and get correct angles.

    You didn't need to wedge that tree over!!Why didn't you use that tractor?

    • @TheRustyGarageandHomestead
      @TheRustyGarageandHomestead  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You are right. I could have used one of my tractors or my dozer. They would have made it simpler for sure. I've pulled a lot of trees over the years. Sometimes you just want to hone your feelings... granted, this was not the best candidate to practice with.
