The game is pretty fun and does things right and better for a Asymmetrical that doesnt follow the traditional rules, the biggest issue in my opinion is the Matchmaking/Player Base, and the fact that you can only Matchmake with friends who are in your REGION, anyone who joins from the West Coast if you’re on the East, will have you sitting around FOREVER. Plus you can only matchmake with friends as Survivors and not Raiders.

I think you’re aligned with the majority consensus on this one, but for what it’s worth, I’ve put over 1,000 hours into this one and have absolutely loved playing it with my stepbrother and my dad online. It’s the only dragon ball game I’ve played that provides the desperate struggle of fighting the overpowered Saiyans with underpowered teammates or the back and forth struggle of collecting the dragon balls on Namek. Coordination is key and combat is actually quite fun once you get the hang of it. The gacha mechanics could be more forgiving but there are some really fun skills like Instant Transmission and Dende’s healing ability. The biggest flaw in my opinion is the matchmaking, but I am grateful this game exists and there are more dragon ball game offerings beyond single player and 1v1 matches. I have a fair amount of feedback for the small dev team but more than anything I am hopeful that this is just a first step towards more team-oriented games and is not the last online Dragon Ball game for 8+ players.
You reviewed the game based on it's tutorial mode, which makes your points feel weird and off to a real player experience, the game sucked but for different reasons, it's like saying real world violence problem come from video game influence, at least play some online games to know what the real problem is.
As someone with over 3000 hours in this game Im quite disappointed by this 'rushed' review. From what I saw in your video you didn't play any online games or if so then very little. You cannot state an opinion on an online asym game without playing online. You don't even know what the games ACTUAL problems are so let me brake it down for you. First, region lock, they added region lock since season 4 and kept making it worse. Now it is nearly impossible to play with friends from other countries. You are restricted to playing with people in your 'area' otherwise you will be waiting for potentially hours to get a single game. Second, Low playerbase. The balance changes and lack of updates has made people quit the game at a steady level. Before season 6 the game was heavily survivor sided and raiders had a really tough time winning games ESPECIALLY against premades. The season 6 balance changes has helped a lot but still premades dominate the scene. Thirdly, instability issues. The game is not optimised properly and can lag or stutter and random moments. The are people who cant even play the game anymore because the framerate goes to the single digits when launching the game and there is no proper fix. Fourthly, they added a ranking system to the game. The people who play this game still to this day are mostly sweats and adding a ranking system make it even worse. It is impossible to have 'fun' in this game if you dont also sweat. The game is NOT beginner friendly at all and the matchmaking is garbage. As a new player you can be put into the same lobby with a veteran and get destroyed without knowing what you are doing or suppose to do. You said in your video that you would have liked 'more objectives' when playing. Trust me if you actually played the game properly you would very quickly realise that you wouldnt have any time to do anything else because you would be running for you life non stop as a new player. You also said raiders are overpowered and can destroy survivors. This alone told me that you haven't played the game nearly enough to understand what you are saying. Prior to season 6 survivors where destroying raiders with their dragon change because of the OP skills and stuns. With season 6 balance changes its a lot harder now but still doable. A good raider will have a decent game but a bad one will still lose. This isnt a hate comment or anything. Im just trying to inform you of the things you are ignorant about because I'm assuming you made this review with little to no actual online gameplay. Hope you have a great rest of your day.
Love this video and you hit a lot of the key core problems with the game, but I also don’t think you spent enough time with the game to give it a full review like some of the other commenters were saying the game isn’t very beginner friendly. I started playing this game two months after it released and I’ve watched it change throughout the seasons, a lot of what you said are a big problem with the game like the camera and the dokkan battle type gambling to get new forms, I think another thing that’s hurting the game is no voice chat it ruins the team aspect of the game there’s almost never coordination within the team and is how most games get lost, another thing is that raiders evolve too fast broly starts at level 2 and so does cell baby basically does the same and so does vegeta, it’s almost never an opportunity to actually fight these raiders cause as soon as you’re on the same level as them they evolve, can’t even set all the keys in most games cause the team feeds the raider or people quit before the match even starts because they aren’t raider. But the thing that makes dragon ball the breakers different from other asymmetrical multiplayer games is the fact you can defeat the raider like Friday the 13th and that feature makes for some amazing moments when the team is actually coordinated I’ve beaten broly and baby this season and it feels great when you finally turn the tables and have the raider running from you and your team
This video comes across as a review of the single player which is definitely lacking. Similar to the IGN review that didn't touch the multiplayer of Street Fighter 4.
I really wish anime games had more effort put into them these days, Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm Generations, Jujitsu Kaisen Cursed Clash, the list goes on, there's just so many that come to mind (and just like Matty, i wish there were more than just arena fighters these days)
Its pretty good fun game to always return to or play consecutively. People complain about the start of the game because they lose but often forget the entire point is that the raider should win more often than not. And its up to the player to well survive. And have fun while doing so.

For what it's worth, I think this was a pretty good game in the middle of its lifespan. I think Season 2-4 was a good point for the game and it was very interesting to see a new concept for a Dragon Ball game and when they were doing things right, it was enjoyable. Overtime, it just got worse and worse with balancing and its gacha system being a problem with no pity. Having to spend money on the game to only get hit with gacha just seems pretty lame looking back on it all. From what I see of content creators of Breakers, they aren't having the best time with the game with survivors being too strong and season 6 just being the lowest state of the game. It has had a good run as least, I guess.
I've been on a number go up kick with my 360 profile lately and the latest game I've been getting achievements for is the original Xenoverse and MY GOD I FORGOT HOW UNFAIR SOME OF THE PARALLEL MISSIONS ARE! It's a pain in the caboose to max out your friendships with the mentors too.
14:08 could've fooled me man. As someone that's has almost 1000 hours in this game more often than not survivors will overwhelm raiders and gang up on them with the dragon changes. What you're describing is what was intended for sure but that's not how we gamers are using it xD 15:32 and clearly you haven't played enough matches against Baby, cuz that's literally the whole point to his first phase of pretending to be a civilian that needs to be rescued and literally jumpscares you. The tutorials do suck I'll admit but putting so many hours into the game and understanding the mechanics makes it fun imo, you just have to put a lot of time into it.
Unfortunately, it does suck. I can see how they could improve it but I know they won't. They're going to drip feed content to Xenoverse and Breakers for a couple more years while we all jump ship to Sparking Zero.
With just a few fixes, I think this game could do well: move to free-to-play to excuse the microtransactions is a big one, no one wants to pay for a game and then discover it still wants MORE money for it to actually be decent. Its a real shame, because Dragon Ball Breakers actually does what lots of Dragon Ball games fail to do and that's the *STRUGGLE* of fighting someone way stronger then you with a bunch of your friends and barely squeaking by a victory through the skin of your teeth: most other Dragon Ball games are fighters, one-on-one, nothing like the Z Fighters confrontation with Vegeta & Nappa or the struggle against Frieza on Namek. Which is extra baffling, because the region lock and group play are abysmal, so Bandai Namco is really put Breakers out to pasture, it seems like it was never intended to be successful with so many aspects implemented.
Breakers player since the beta here. The game used to be fun, like really fun. But slowly across muktiple seasons they been ruining by balancing it around the top players, so that's why it's not beginner friendly anymore, and the aggressive microstransactions are not helping either. The game was fun before, but little by little they neefed survivors into the ground making it unenjoyable unless you are part of high level premade team. A lot of stuff used ti cost zeni, but nore and more was moved towards TP tokens (the premium currency) and pushing it towards the gacha system. Before you could pretty good with default skills and skills from the store. But now they made it si the gacha skills feel mandatory. They nerfed basic survivor mechanics instead of tackling the actual problems. They implemented region lock so you can't play with friends outside of your continent, unless you use a VPN. The last season is the first season we don't get a free survivor skin, the first season we don't get free emotes, poses nor intros. Each season we got two extra survivor skins with 2 skills each aside from the free survivor skin with one skill. This season we got Launch separated into two different skins (a character separated into two) and each version has only one skill, while also the third one is a also a paid skin with no new skills and is basically a Bulma reskin. Also, the newest raiders are more expensive than the previous ones.
I've been playing since the beta tests and I can admit that this game does suck, at least in its current state. The game used to have a system where you could play in a full lobby with friends where one can be the raider, but thanks to people exploiting this it got changed to only playing w/ friends either in survivor games or private lobbies. I'd say that if the tutorial was more in-depth in explaining how to play and go over certain situations instead of letting it all be done in the robot NPCs in the lobby making you read everything the game would be more beginner friendly, but sadly that isn't the case. The matchmaking is bad when pairing new players with experienced players and the gacha doesn't even have a pity system and that's just the tip of the iceberg. The 2nd anniversary, which is coming up, will really let us know if this game has a chance of being better or not, but I'm just waiting for Sparking Zero at this point.
If he reviewed this on launch he would have experienced veteran players such as myself who could bully the raider and beat them consistently unless they were on the same level as us. Now, it is more balanced and raider defeats are uncommon as they should be.
Min 8:30, it's not anime games all being 3d fighters it's the one common denominator. Bandai namco. How did u show every game being made by them and not notice?
Also you don't seem to play many online multiplayer games. You have a weird perspective on this video and you didn't even talk about any reasons why dbtb is actually bad. Get some perspective
@@mxnski1822 yes the game sucks, but I was talking about Bandai namco in general. They're a terrible company and run their games into the ground. Sparking zero has since come out, and they're doing the same with it's online.
My man the reason the camera is like that is so you could do things and still keep an eye on where the Raider is. Dead by Daylight is the exact same way. Also fighting is definitely more than a tool, with things like the Dragonballs and super transpheres you can do a lot more than delay the Raider.
Also if there were more task it turns into Friday the 13th with so much to do and keep track of that no one actually does anything and you just wait for the time to run out..
I play this game regularly, after dealing with that tutorial i’ve been having a lot of fun. Getting good at it has been a nice experience. Main complaint I have is how stingy the gacha system is
The Breaker’s is just another version of DBD to me. I like them both, I never expected a Tenkaichi experience from the Breaker, I just except the game for what it is. Definitely a fun game when you learn how to play and unlock skills though
The experience is not great as a new player but if you are able to learn the game by spending enough time on it you can see how many options this game gives in playstyle by the skills in the game the only caviot of this game is that its tied to how lucky you are on the gacha.
Lol he definitely didn't get the premade experience. This game is honestly one of those where u gotta play it for awhile before u can really dig into the actual core issues. Almost every point he made was pretty telling that he only played for like 2/3 hours tops. But is he right in his initial assessment though? Lol yeah. After 200 hours, I can confidently say that this game has a ridiculous amount of issues. From balancing to RNG to paywalls to repetition. But. Strangely. I still love this weird broken ass game anyway. It does have charm. And when it does actually manage to fire on all cylinders, it's a great time. It's just a matter of digging through the nonsense. But I can't blame anyone for not wanting to sink time in. This game's initial presentation is absolute trash. The tutorial just by itself is mind numbingly terrible and forced. I hate it with a passion.
I love this game have it on switch, ps5 , and pc. I just wish for someone like me who doesn’t have friends to play with could be the villain all the time. That’s what I mostly did in predator hunting grounds.
I remember trying the beta for this game, but not a fan of those A symmetrical multiplayer games. I'd prefer something like DBZ Kakarot where there's just normal DBZ combat and story. I was discussing the same idea with a friend about games like Dead by Daylight, Jason, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, etc. Horror A symmetrical multiplayer games just don't work for me. If I'm playing a horror game, I'd prefer something singeplayer, and something where I have a gun to defend myself, like Resident Evil 4 or Dead Space for example...
It's interesting but not what the fanbase wants out of a Dragon Ball game. RPGs and fighting games, card games, etc are the stufc we're used to. It's fine to try different stuff but I feel like this was chasing a trend more than trying to ne different, good, or innovative. I'm sure it's a fine game though, but they may as well go f2p at this point to get people in.
As someone who's been playing this game for a while, you are very wrong on a lot of things (in your survivor/raider portions). That said, this is the beginners PoV so it's a very fair assessment. I'm by no means defending this game, I can't even believe I spent $20 on it.
It looks great but it's also like self torture... it's like it does alot right but gameplay is hard to the max and it allows cross play that is new this feels like a beta XenoVerse 3
As someone who has played basically since launch and has SEVERAL complaints about the game (I am no longer playing at this point) it's super interesting to see how many of the takes you have that I strongly disagree with. No saying that you're "wrong", just that the different opinions we both hold while both having some dislike for the game is fascinating.
With the right group of people this game is worth the $10-$20. Me and my group of friends enjoyed it and had moments where we just laughed. A good game not to take too serious
why did he say he state that he has never played this game ever, yet I've seen a previous review of this game made by him. Is he lying or am I losing it.
I bought the game 2 weeks ago, after the tutorial the game was totally unplayable. For 2 days straight it told me a network error was causing problems so i ended up returning it. Call of duty and other multiplayer games had no trouble, just breakers
The game is pretty fun, however it s very unfriendly to new players thanks to most people knowing the meta and the tricks. The playerbase is too low. Imo the only way for the game to continue is making it F2P, the current 20 dollar price tag is way to high for a game like this.
Honestly, I think Breakers would have been so much more interesting without the transphere characters. The game's concept was so interesting and different than other DB titles, and I would have loved seeing it fully leaning into that. What can survivors do with only their wits, numbers, and tech against actual planet/galaxy busters? But instead, it devolves into an extremely mediocre brawler most of the time, and in that case, I'd rather play any other DB game on the market.
It's another cheap, uninspired anime game by Bandai Namco that they're using to scrape some cash from the franchise it's based on. I was unimpressed the first time I saw the trailer. When it comes to actual quality anime games from Bamco, they're 30-70 on that end.
Yes. It sucks. In pretty much all areas. I bought this game on launch, and ever since the start the matchmaking has been horrible. Being forced to listen to that god awful lobby music for 60% of my time in the game. Till the point I had to turn down the music completely. Trunks annoying message at the start of every game starts to make the game feel stale before the match has started. The crazy monetisation and lacklustre gifts they give out. Acting like multi summons are worth an arm and a leg when in reality should be half the cast. The stale ETM survivors turning every match into the same gig every match. (Looking at you Kaioken Sqaud) The absurdly broken raider que, which they eventually axed. Graphics that look like they belong on a Nintendo Switch. Terrible post launch support. A weird cap to earning battle pass points, plus the abysmal Zeni gain outside of events. Just overall a massive middle finger to all the fans who wanted this game to succeed. They really did the bare minimum.
The game has potential but either the devs have stopped caring or the publisher has stopped putting resources into this game and the game just isn't worth playing since it seems like they want to kill it off
Breakers was fun before the Raider mains started complaining about how weak the role is and have not stopped complaining since. It's pretty much like every other Asymmetrical multiplayer game at this point if you have friends to play with go for it, if not stay clear because as a solo player for every one good game you get as Raider you have to suffer through a handful or two of BS losses as Survivor before you get to have fun.

The game is very fun but player base is very low because of people not trying it there self instead they listen to bad hate reviews telling them not to play it
Never understood why people love turn based RPG games? What's fun about something like one piece odyssey and games that makes you go punch an enemy once then wait your turn ?
@@Gokuvsnaruto22oh ok I thought it was still $30-40. Is it still active though? That was really my main concern, that the game was just gonna die off shortly after release.
No one in history has EVER watched dragon ball and been like “yeah it’d be cool to a normal person in this world”…. So why make a game around that concept.
To be fair this video undersells the dragon changes and the fact that you are able to fight and defeat the raider if you are clever and tactical enough.
wth are you're camera complaints. i play the game and it definitely has issues but your camera complaints make absolutely no sense to me. i dont need my camera to follow my movements. in fact its beneficial to the game that the camera isnt swinging around my character when i move because theres often times in game i wanna look at the raider while moving my character around the map. ive never had an issue with the camera how you're saying. also i wasn't ever forced to play the tutorial. maybe they changed it but i didn't do it.
Raging Blast games, Dbz Burst Limit Heck Even Dbz Battle of Z once you know how to play it( You can actually change outfit Colors and Give your Team Commands to do stuff unlike Xenoverse like Be Defensive, Go Full Power etc.

Having to spend money on the game to only get hit with gacha just seems pretty lame looking back on it all.
From what I see of content creators of Breakers, they aren't having the best time with the game with survivors being too strong and season 6 just being the lowest state of the game.
It has had a good run as least, I guess.
Have you tried Fist Of The North Star: Lost Paradise? It's a pretty fun anime action RPG.
Nah, it's alright.
What you're describing is what was intended for sure but that's not how we gamers are using it xD
15:32 and clearly you haven't played enough matches against Baby, cuz that's literally the whole point to his first phase of pretending to be a civilian that needs to be rescued and literally jumpscares you.
The tutorials do suck I'll admit but putting so many hours into the game and understanding the mechanics makes it fun imo, you just have to put a lot of time into it.
"They do hang with these games for a while"
Meanwhile, Gundam Evolution, that shutdown before even reaching 1 year since release...
Only reason I dislike it sometimes is the survivors update that nerfed them
Yes! Dragon Ball The Breakers Sucks! Animal Crossing: New Horizons is better than dragon ball the breakers
That CRT in the background looks smooth
It's an alright game, It just needs some adjustments and a balanced system. 👍
@@thunderpope9419bro the game just sucks
@@mxnski1822 yes the game sucks, but I was talking about Bandai namco in general. They're a terrible company and run their games into the ground. Sparking zero has since come out, and they're doing the same with it's online.
The made in abyss video game that came out a couple years ago wasn't a fighter. It wasn't very good, but it wasn't a fighter lol
The level system means you actually can be more powerful than the raider. A level 3/4 survivor can beat the shit out of a raider level 3 or below
I play this game regularly, after dealing with that tutorial i’ve been having a lot of fun. Getting good at it has been a nice experience. Main complaint I have is how stingy the gacha system is
Also you talk about how dragon changes aren’t really for fighting but that isn’t the case at all. Most wins i’ve had come from killing the raider
i have been playing the game on and off since release. i love it!
This game was such a weird release lmfaooo
It was free with plus monthly Sony gave it to you for free the only dragon ball game they ever gave away what’s that make you think
I hate it with a passion.
is there a way to change the stupid camera lock thing cause it hurts my eyes playing the game with the screen locked to the right instead of the left
This season does very badly
It's interesting but not what the fanbase wants out of a Dragon Ball game. RPGs and fighting games, card games, etc are the stufc we're used to. It's fine to try different stuff but I feel like this was chasing a trend more than trying to ne different, good, or innovative.
I'm sure it's a fine game though, but they may as well go f2p at this point to get people in.
Forgot all about this game till this video popped up
I think it was an interesting premise but could’ve been a lot better
As someone who's been playing this game for a while, you are very wrong on a lot of things (in your survivor/raider portions). That said, this is the beginners PoV so it's a very fair assessment. I'm by no means defending this game, I can't even believe I spent $20 on it.
Matty with the Frieren shout heavy resp
Played it for a couple days then moved on. It just wasn't all that fun and really awkward to control
Its not in its peak thats why its not fun
@@albertocaravella8796 it's been out nearly 2 years dude...
I think this could have came free with everyone xenogears 2 copy, it just feels like a free to play game rather than one you pay a base price for
It looks great but it's also like self torture... it's like it does alot right but gameplay is hard to the max and it allows cross play that is new this feels like a beta XenoVerse 3
Frieren tournament fighter 💀💀💀 don’t speak it into existence please sir😂
Great retrospective 🤘
I've never even heard of this
Still dont understand the reason this game was created , its so weird. Its like the next zelda game being.....a first person shooter like DOOM etc.
Because you get to play your DB villain fantasy.
As someone who platinumed Kakarot and has hundreds of hours on Xenoverse 2, I didn’t even finish the tutorial before quitting this game
Damn.
In the beginning I thought the same thing, now I find DBTB better than Xenoverse 2 and especially better than Kakarot
I haven't tried it yet, but I did get it for free, so I can always fall back on that if I ever try it out.
I feel bad for people who bought this game
It's another cheap, uninspired anime game by Bandai Namco that they're using to scrape some cash from the franchise it's based on. I was unimpressed the first time I saw the trailer. When it comes to actual quality anime games from Bamco, they're 30-70 on that end.
I had fun with this game
Yes.
(Looking at you Kaioken Sqaud)
The absurdly broken raider que, which they eventually axed.
Graphics that look like they belong on a Nintendo Switch.
Terrible post launch support.
A weird cap to earning battle pass points, plus the abysmal Zeni gain outside of events.
Just overall a massive middle finger to all the fans who wanted this game to succeed.
They really did the bare minimum.
sadly its just another in the endless ocean of multiplayer games.
As games go it’s fine apart from the matchmaking times
The game has potential but either the devs have stopped caring or the publisher has stopped putting resources into this game and the game just isn't worth playing since it seems like they want to kill it off
If this was free to play i'd be super curious about trying it. Its already got the mobile stars stink to it for raiders/fighters.
I do enjoy play jump foce 😀💗
It's not a bad game just shallow surprised this video is so long lol
Breakers was fun before the Raider mains started complaining about how weak the role is and have not stopped complaining since. It's pretty much like every other Asymmetrical multiplayer game at this point if you have friends to play with go for it, if not stay clear because as a solo player for every one good game you get as Raider you have to suffer through a handful or two of BS losses as Survivor before you get to have fun.
Yep, it always has..funny that the current season is doing badly lol
Yes. It sucks. In pretty much all areas.
Lemme just start with the fact I have over 100 hours and the platinum trophy. I definitely wouldn’t have all those hours if I didn’t have a friend to play with.

Dumb gacha mechanics in a purchased game is a scam. Plus what’s the best thing you can get? Some lame skill? Wow that’s really worth it.

Last but definitely not least, they ported over a ton of stuff including special attacks, emotes, stamps, voice lines etc all from Xenoverse. Just a lazy cash grab.
Just overall a massive middle finger to all the fans who wanted this game to succeed.
They really did the bare minimum.
The game is very fun but player base is very low because of people not trying it there self instead they listen to bad hate reviews telling them not to play it
Anime games being fighters is fine but go the dbfz route pls
Freinen needs a fighting game
Terrible anime
Well rn it does but it used to be better and hopefully it'll go back next season
The camera is so u dont abuse corner peaking...i thought that would be obvious its bad on purpose
Never understood why people love turn based RPG games? What's fun about something like one piece odyssey and games that makes you go punch an enemy once then wait your turn ?
I dunno the concept really put me off, if someone said u can play a dragonball game...but you play the farmer, not appealing to me lol😅
Should've been f2p, I would've been all over this
It’s only $20 my dude.
@@Gokuvsnaruto22oh ok I thought it was still $30-40. Is it still active though? That was really my main concern, that the game was just gonna die off shortly after release.
@@ADukesJustice It’s definitely active and it was $20 since release. It has cross play as well.
Alot of people got it free from ps plus as well .
No one in history has EVER watched dragon ball and been like “yeah it’d be cool to a normal person in this world”…. So why make a game around that concept.
To be fair this video undersells the dragon changes and the fact that you are able to fight and defeat the raider if you are clever and tactical enough.
The breakers is the definition of a good concept but was outputted bad
o he doesn't know the fun of facing a premade
wth are you're camera complaints. i play the game and it definitely has issues but your camera complaints make absolutely no sense to me. i dont need my camera to follow my movements. in fact its beneficial to the game that the camera isnt swinging around my character when i move because theres often times in game i wanna look at the raider while moving my character around the map. ive never had an issue with the camera how you're saying. also i wasn't ever forced to play the tutorial. maybe they changed it but i didn't do it.
Dragon ball games been ass after raging blast 2
Raging Blast games, Dbz Burst Limit Heck Even Dbz Battle of Z once you know how to play it( You can actually change outfit Colors and Give your Team Commands to do stuff unlike Xenoverse like Be Defensive, Go Full Power etc.
Xenoverse, kakarot, sparking zero: am I a joke to you? (I forgot to put fighterZ in there)💀💀
3:10 lol btw why are you showing footage of Final Fantasy 14 when it's not a moba or a hero shooter, it's a traditional mmo? Not dogging on you too much bro, but that was kind of funny, as someone who just finished doing the savage raids in the new xpac, lol
the floating on the ground reminds me of fallout 3 and new vegas and it was awful back then let alone now
17:23 please play the game against high levels you won’t be stomping out nothing 😂
I may play this game daily but I can say yes it does 😭
