This is melodic and ...cool....unfortunately a great many players today think more notes and speed is the thing...well I think they are wrong and out of touch with what constitutes a solo worth hearing. Paul Desmond who admitted to not being able to play fast decided he would concentrate on melodic phrases and he in my opinion is the best alto player ever. Carry on.
I agree with your opinion. As a jazz learner, I am also focusing on the composition of notes. I am especially diligent in learning Chord tone. Thank you.
