Not afraid to say that I’m a FM fanboy. This was one of my first purchases from the company. I don’t get the animalic tones either. Great interpretation of this fragrance. This one really gets attention in the air
This is a masterpiece i would love to try a first year batch! This has been reformulated alot and they say the original was alot more animalic. I like the tiny bit of dirtiness and grit this has in it!
I actually have a bottle of it now 😅 I hated it at first then liked it now I love it. My video on it: th-cam.com/video/iz-KX1r66zo/w-d-xo.htmlsi=iq3zfU2WVSjwLTLc
Funny people thinking Musc Ravageur has pissy animilics tones... basically influenced by what Musc Ravageur used to be in the beginning because it was more animalic. Now it's easy pleasing. More around ambers, vanilla, cinnamon. In the ambers proposal, I prefer today Le lion de Chanel.
I added it a week ago. I got a genuine small sample, and the first time, I loved it. The second time….. I was kind of funky. I killed the sample 2 weeks ago, and I love how developed and stay the whole day.
I wonder what percent of the population gets the animalic notes? Maybe kind of like how cilantro tastes soapy to some people or their pee stinks after eating asparagus. I like Ravageur but worry about wearing it too much because it does have that factor to it. I wear fragrance to enjoy how I smell and want to be respectful to others in my space though
@@rabidfan256 same 100% agree I still wear it a lot. Yeah it’s really bizarre when I show it to people and ask if they detect animal like half say 100% they do the other not at all. Kinda like that viral gold dress blue dress image. I don’t get animalic at all.
@@wehavenomoney lighting could be better I’m in a confined space and use a Godox ES45 it’s very compact I have a rim light drilled into the wall above me. I’d like to have a softer key light.
@@wehavenomoney No problem. Looking back I would have paid a bit more and got the NTG4+ microphone so I wouldn't be reliant on phantom power. Would have given me a lot more versatility.
The last little bit in my 5ml decant had a bit of a mister pee pants vibe. I liked the decant overall, it was a good one for valentines day. Could not see myself wearing it much.
Well, MUSC RAVAGEUR: An interesting mélange of classic and gourmand fused together. But, who, as a man at least, would like to smell like a biscuit? After the initial spray, a blast of sweet vanilla-biscuity cloud settles down as a sickly-sweet dessert-like aroma, framed by a powdery tonka-ness. I wonder if people even know how musk smells?! NOT BLIND BUY SAFE, TRY BEFORE. Last but not least, if you really like that vibe, just go and buy L’ERBOLARIO (Meharees). It costs only EUR 25 and is honestly better. Less sickly-sweet, airy, long-lasting, and way easier to wear!
Angels Share and Lira smell edible and I, AS A MAN, enjoy wearing those lol to each their own. I don’t think Musc ravageur smells like an edible gourmand and I also don’t think desiring to wear an edible fragrance makes someone less of a man.
I’ve heard that I dunno if I even wanna try vintage I’m perfectly happy with my current Musc. Why ruin a good thing? Lol Labdanum 18 is how I imagine vintage Musc would smell like it’s a dirtier Musc Ravageur to me with Dr Pepper amber instead of cinnamon but that ‘other’ component is there and prevalent.
I find this one pleasant and not alimanic at all. However, like your wife said, it is just a nice orange vanilla. I find nothing special or hidden within this one. Older batches are supposed to be more animalic. Pass for me at the price.
@@silverfox311 I agree that’s a common feeling I’ve heard expressed that it’s underwhelming. I haven’t smelled vintage Musc Ravageur but Labdanum 18 is pretty similar and by the same perfumer it has more of that ‘something else’ I like and I still don’t consider it animalic. Reading reviews of Labdanum 18 is clear many consider it animalic. 🤷♂️ really weird lol.
@@theartofdoingnothing4755 ya someone once posted their wife said a fragrance smelled like old man pee. I so badly wanted to comment “how does she know what that smells like?” But obviously refrained out of respect.

I didn’t like this one at all. It smells way too dirty and animalic for me off the top and mid. The dry down is actually quite nice, but there’s simply no point for me if I have to painfully get through that skanky musk.

I felt self conscious wearing this . Don’t like that about myself . But what can you do. Will go back to it I think.
Huge FM fan here, i own two 100ml 2019 bottles from Musc Ravageur :)

@ thank you
Man, I have been holding up on buying it. I think I am going to present this for my birthday.
I tried it last summer in Italy and thought it smelled like an unbathed older woman. It reminded me of my 5th grade teacher.

Ah man I wish I had this old animalic formulation. It was completely ruined and pumped with buckets of vanilla with recent reformulations.
