This video contains two things I love about the hobby of horology: First a beautiful watch that has a simple but interesting and elegant dial, a movement that (like all chronometer certified movements) is an engineering masterpiece and a bracelet that is so stunning I could go on for hours talking about it. The second thing I love about this hobby is how a small piece of practical jewellery has the power to make time seemingly move slower and to fascinate thousands of people if just for 9 minutes. Thank you Peter for taking us on this ride! Cheers
My parents have been wearing Omega since the 50's and it became a family tradition. Like most kids I wanted to rebel a bit and have experimented with other brands. However the older I get and the further along in my watch journey the more I find myself coming back to Omega for their value, design, innovation and timelessness.
Amazing stuff. Definitely grail worthy of pursuit and when you wear it you feel the passion its creators felt when it was finished and saw the light of day. A great timepiece to spend time with.
Omega do make superb watches no doubt. I’ve a globemaster in steel / Sedna gold and absolutely love it. This De- Ville is a gem. One of the most beautiful watches I’ve seen. Apart from the unique bracelet, the hands are a stand out feature for me.
Wow! Simply a spectacular watch Pete! Not very often when the bracelet steals the show and takes the honors from the watch itself. But, that watch in itself is a beauty to behold too! I really am at a loss for words...
More than any other channel, you have a Knack for reaching into the past catalogue and finding these models, and you've done it once again my friend. IMO, this is much more interesting, with more potential for enjoyment in the hobby, than simply waiting with bated breath for new releases to be announced and rushing out to throw our money at a company. Quite the opposite of the people out here paying above retail just to be among the first with a hot new release. I personally had my own perspective changed in this regard when I picked up a vintage (birth- year) Omega on a whim for next to nothing, and due to its charm it in instantly became my favorite watch over my watches costing thousands more. Kudos to you for bringing this one to our attention!
Great video Pete, you are capturing one of my favorite parts of Omega and why I rebel a little when people say (to all sorts of brands) 'be more like Rolex'. We get watches like this precisely because brands like Omega have their own unique identities and ways of doing things - watches like this may not be commercial hits and may not become auction house darlings but the watch world is richer for their existence.
Couldn’t have said it better Pete. I wore this last night at a function and 6 different individuals got me to remove it from my wrist for closer inspection and handling. They loved it as do I 👍
Forgot about this one. One of the reasons I am so drawn to Omega, they have a vast historic catalog of great watches long forgotten. Thanks for covering the not so common side of watches.
What a gorgeous watch, I doubt I could get away with that bracelet, perhaps with a suit, but still appreciate the beauty of this piece. Thanks for the show.
Brilliant video, Pete! Well done. Well written. And your photography/videography is some of the best I've seen. Bravo! Keep up the amazing work! And that Omega!!!! 😍
My first brush with a vintage watch Peter was through my late father. He inherited his late aunty’s gold pocket watch. It’s only about 28mm on a gold necklace & was presented to her on her wedding day in 1911 by her new husband. So occasionally as a small child I’d ask if I could please have a look at it, which dad obliged. It’s still in its original burgundy felt pouch btw. Now my collection would be close to 45% vintage. I love my new purchases I’ve made but it’s hard to beat a beautiful, mechanical, vintage watch to take you back in time…☺️👍🏼
And there goes my plan to buy an Aqua Terra.... what a stunning piece. So understating yet so present. I just fell in love with a bracelet, never thought that would happen.
Peter, awesome vid. Just got mine this week. What a beauty, really a piece of art. Manager at Omega store really liked it as well. Thank you thank you thank you.
I own one with the leather strap and I think this GMT watch was perfect for me when my eyesight was still good, I wonder why Omega is not making a new version of this. Most GMT watches now are thicker and bigger. BTW my other watch is the modern ceramic Pepsi with a red GMT hand which is easier to read for me but it can attract unnecessary attention, the blue GMT hand on the Batgirl version is harder to find.
Omega is the best watch brand, period. They make from high horology solid gold Tourbillon calibers, to their own chronograph calibers since the XIXth Century, as well as only time, of course, to the best and more performant divers watch in history, or the best thermocompensated space exploration tool watch, and their own escapement. Who can say that does anything near that?
Incredible Timeless design & sensational beauty🔥 Fantastic acquisition & presentation Peter. I’ve never seen this particular strap from Omega, although I used to admire & play with my Grandmothers watch in the ‘70s with a similar engineered strap. It was silky smooth & articulated like a snake. WOW!
Hi Pete, I believe this kind of content is your best work, I understand you got to review for microbrands, but these reviews are truly what put you on the map for watch enthusiasts. Greetings from MX
Yeah these are pretty rare these days. As for mine, its now living on the wrist of a very good friend fo mine..he loves it andI don't think he will ever part with it
I was very fortunate to find a non~GMT version of this example about a year ago! Yes , it is my grail, and I'm crazy about it. I have sub 7 inch wrist so it fits great even though the lugs are long but beautiful. It sits more than it's worn but I don't care. Thanx for the Review sir!
Both the watch and the presentation are Pure Class here, Peter. Thank you. The world of horology deserves more like this. I'd like to see what you could do with a piece on the CK 859.
@@PeterKotsa superb, look forward to seeing it in future videos, there is something quintessentially Omega about it and it’s what they do so well, wear it in good health 👍
I think it could be quite a polarising thing, it looks like something that would be quite expensive to make but although I admire its technical merit I just don't like it and wouldn't buy a watch using it.
@@philspencelayh5464 interesting perspective. I dont expect all omega watches to possess this bracelet. It would be a niche thing since this bracelet is not sporty but more elegant. I would assume to save the deville line this bracelet would be a standard.
Had one of these and loved everything about it but it's very hard to read the silver hands against the gray dial. Legibility I found to be quite poor, so had to sell it.
This is a beauty. The only thing I could say is I wish it had a frame on the date window. I think that would perfect the design. Similar to some of the Aqua Terra models
really interested in getting this watch myself after watchin your video! any advice on which website to try and source this watch? I live in Canada. Thanks!
That's a gorgeous bracelet indeed; reminds me of the one on Dietrich's new skin diver. Sadly the watch itself seems utterly absent from the internet, like some mythical beast that came and went without a trace.
If this watch had a 'crown' stamped on it, it would be hyped and sold for 20 000+ USD. What an amazing watch! Omega should produce more watches like this one....40 mm or smaller and under 12 - 12,5 mm thin.
Omega is definitely my favorite watchmaker. The Omega Seamaster SMP 300m(black dial) is my #1 grail watch. It's my one and done luxury watch for everyday use that I will be getting a quality leather clasp deployment strap, OEM rubber, and its steel bracelet for it. My only wish is that it had drilled lugs, UGH. Why no drilled lugs
Omega has a rubber strap with a deployment clasp that is slick. Not sure why they don't offer it standard on this watch. The rubber strap is different from the one you get when you buy the SMP300 on rubber strap. Was ok for me as I got the watch on bracelet, then ordered the rubber strap with deployment clasp.
amazing vid I think the aspect about this piece that may fly under the radar for some is how thin this watch is considering it has a co-axial. I love so much of what Omega is doing with their movements but many times the new co-axials add a lot to the thickness which really diminishes the wearability on my smaller wrist. I know specs on paper aren't everything but I'm definitely interested to try this on the wrist some day
