You are right.. this is not a hike fail.. this is a trail fail. Better safe than sorry every day! Good decision. You still had some awesome views, got lots of miles in and gave us all some great ideas on where to hike. This hike will be on my list!!! Thank you for taking the time to film, edit and post your videos. Loved the music you put to the video too! Your camera is fantastic! Your #1 Tennessee Fans.. Todd & Silke
Thanks. Im just really thankful we ran into that hiking group at the critical moment. They told us that the combo of high winds and sunshine made the avalanche risk higher. I am glad we turned around.
Thanks for taking me along, I hope you go back and do it when the snow melts, I would love to see how the trail looks without it. I might add it to my TO DO list!
Gorgeous views, and of course another gorgeous day :) I want to try that one w/o all that snow on the ground but hopefully with still some snow on the peaks at least. Thanks for sharing another wonderful video!
When I first watched this video last winter, I realized I'd never done that section down to Calypso Cascades, so last summer I did a loop from the Allenspark TH. There's a neat spot by a bridge at a switchback and another place where the water from a seep spreads out about 15 feet over the trail that was pretty cool. The short connector trail towards the end over to the Allenspark Tr was steep and not much fun. I think the next time I do that hike, I'll do it counter-clockwise, just to avoid going uphill on that section. Thanks for the idea. You can still park along the road near the Allenspark TH, but the parking area has been closed and the land owner has a couple dozen no tresspassing signs cluttering up the north side of the trail.
We went back later in the summer and was going to try to do it from the Allenspark TH.. but the 2 dozen no tresspassing signs scared me off so we went and did a plan b. Good to know you can still park there though!
You used to be able to park on the north side of the road below the TH after the parking area was closed three or four years ago, but I think you can now only park on the north side of the road above the TH. Anyway, it's a public road, so you can park along it wherever there aren't any signs saying you can't. I parked there at least twice last year at about 11:00 in the morning and there were several cars parked along the road both times. The TH sign is still there and the trail is still open down to the road. I don't know what the problem is with the guy who owns that inholding. I can't think of another inholding in the park like this.
A car could probably do it, just gotta take it really slow. I was honestly shocked to see the road in such bad condition. I never remembered it being like that. Im thinking they will patch it up before summer.
No. I have it attached to my backpack, where I can shoot from if I choose.. however I usually pop it off and hand hold it. I find its smoother that way and the audio is better.

I like your videos, I was all about 14ers and 13ers but now I'm in love with lower peaks, Thanks for nice info and some great ideas!
Watching now. Awesome video so far. I will watch til the end. Such a beautiful place. Well done. All the best, Crow✌️
Safety first. In the winter there are no hike fails , especially with avalanches possible. Thanks for the video.

Trail fail is right. Good advice and you’re a good example. Awesome video. Thanks again Nick. Peace.
Beautiful
My favorite area of the park.

Nick, Would a car make it up that bumpy road.I sure miss your pease sign at the end of your videos :)

I'm new to shooting gopro , do you leave your camera running the whole time then edit?
