Hi!! I live in Estes park and I like to spend my days off on the national park. So here are few extra things to do! 1. Wild basin area is the less popular, but definitely its been one of the most beautiful places I’ve been, it makes you feel like you are in a movie, total in the middle of the forest. Ouzel falls is my favorite in the entire park and I’ve done about 15 hikes in the entire area. 2. Estés park has great locations like Lily Lake, which is a peaceful place to just walk around the lake with a great view of Longs Peak, it is located on highway 7, which I consider an scenic drive! As well in Estes park you will find Gem Lake, moderate hike located in town, no time entry or fee needed, but parking might ask for permission, which you will have already if you have your passes for the rmnp. 3. Lake Haiyaha, moderate hike as well, passing dream lake. Has stunning views and a perfect blue clear water 4. Lake Irene, as well a peaceful place, with picnic tables around where you can have a nice lunch, loop around the lake with stunning views (and wildlife). 5. Mary’s lake at night (located in Estes park) I know sounds awkward, but as a local, if you like astronomy, this place is perfect during night if you want to have some pictures from Milky Way. 6. Don’t miss Estes park downtown, has great restaurants, beautiful river sidewalks and restaurants. 7. Mustang mountain coaster in Estes park. 8. Ohh, don’t miss fern falls, easy hike and it is so beautiful! 9. If you are a professional hiking as she mentioned, chasm lake on longs peak trailhead it’s going to look like another world, an experience I will never forget. Hard hike, but very worth it! I hope the information is helpful for your next visit, and I apologize in advance for any wrong spelling, I’m still learning the language!
Wow, this video of Rocky Mountain National Park is absolutely breathtaking! I love the stunning visuals of the high mountain peaks, alpine tundra, and wildlife-filled valleys. Seeing this video makes me want to plan my next trip to Rocky Mountain National Park right away. There's so much more to explore, and I can't wait to discover more hidden gems in this remarkable national park. If you're a nature lover or adventure seeker, put this place on your bucket list. Trust me, you won't be disappointed!
We lived there for 4 years and 2 of our most favorite hikes were Ute Trail and Dream Lake. Totally worth checking out also Mary’s Lake is nice as well. Ute trail in our opinion is the best!
Really wish I could get back to visit the states again you guys have some fantastic trails with beautiful scenery. Love the videos keep them up makes me anxious to see mountains again!
In Wild Basin is the "Ouzel Falls via Wild Basin Trail" at about 5.3 miles round trip. It's a nice wooded hike along a few creeks with crazy rapids, and you end up standing below a strong waterfall. Download all the trails in the area in case you want to hike farther. My AT&T service was terrible the entire way.
Thanks for sharing! Just looked up that hike - sounds like a fun one! www.alltrails.com/trail/us/colorado/ouzel-falls-via-wild-basin-trail-from-sandbeach-lake
The Old Fall River Road drive is truly a scenic motor trail and a unique experience. Stop at Chasm Falls along the way to take a short hike and view elk once you reach the Alpine Tundra. The switchbacks on this road are a marvel themselves.
Congradulations on a great video! I am an avid hiker so I found this to be a very informative video and so beautiful for the places I would love to visit there. Also your narration is so clear and relaxing. I have watched many other videos that are not worthy of watching because they are mainly about stupid things to do there like visiting various stores and restaurants with junk food in Estes Park.
My wife & I live 40 minutes from the park, great place to go for a gazillion reasons... Besides, water, bring a jacket, even in the summer... And bring sunscreen too!
You have 2 options! I would recommend Estes Park on the eastern side if you'd like to see Bear Lake area (popular area of the park). Or you could stay in Grand Lake if you'd like to see more of the SW region of the National Park. Both areas are unique and have beautiful views, but it seems the eastern part of the park is more popular with visitors. If you want to see the entire park, it is about a 2 hour drive from the Grand Lake entrance to the Estes Park entrance.
I'm going to Rocky mountain in September to shoot the milky way. My big question is does the park close at night and do you need to camp out there or is it open 24 hours?
The National Park is open 24/7, so you can head into the park at night and just drive past the entrance booth (it likely will not have anyone there to provide entrance info) to film the night sky! More info here: www.nps.gov/romo/planyourvisit/hours.htm#:~:text=Rocky%20Mountain%20National%20Park%20is,the%20late%20afternoon%20can%20help.
Hi - if you are just driving on Trail Ridge Road, you should be fine in a standard car. They plow the road for vehicle traffic in summer months. It looks like Trail Ridge road and Alpine Visitor Center will still be closed this Memorial Day weekend 2024 due to the snow/weather they have been receiving. More info on road status here: www.nps.gov/romo/planyourvisit/road_status.htm
A great hike is either Estes Cone or Chasm Lake kinda between Estes Park and Finch Lake.......Chasm in July has the trail slope sideways and many times has snow and ice on it...so one should pack traction devices even though you may not use
We’re looking at staying in Estes Park. Which trails are best to take with a toddler in a hiking carrier on your back? I’m not an experienced hiker, have only hiked the Inks Lake trailheads here in the Texas Hill Country. I’m pretty fit but exercise wise, a bit outta shape since having my son. Maybe I should make a goal to strengthen and prepare my muscles for our trip in June. I’m just trying to figure out the best trails to take that won’t kill us or make us regret walking because they’re so long. We have never taken a trip like this before, never even been out of Texas. Any advice you can give would be so very helpful.
That is the park map in the brochure you receive upon entering the park. The NPS site has a map on their site too, but it's a little different: www.nps.gov/romo/planyourvisit/maps.htm
www.tripadvisor.com/AttractionProductReview-g33388-d14042190-Rocky_Mountain_National_Park_in_Summer_Tour_from_Denver-Denver_Colorado.html Hi Jose- The National Park does not offer tours where anyone would pick you up from the airport and drive you into the park, but there are tours offered on TripAdvisor by private companies that will drive you into the park and guide you. I added a link for one tour I just searched on TripAdvisor. Have fun! :)

Glad it was helpful! Yes- staying in Estes Park and Grand Lake is a great way to see the whole park! There are more trails in the Grand Lake area - here is a map of the trails there: www.nps.gov/romo/planyourvisit/upload/Kawunceeche-Valley-Trail-Guide-2017-digital.pdf We had our dog with us so we also did some hiking in this area: www.alltrails.com/explore/trail/us/colorado/colorado-river-and-river-run-trail

Thank you for the great info. Is there any alternative parking that we could use if Bear Lake parking is full? I heard it's very crowdy. Also, is it to intimidating to drive thru the Trail Ridge Road for someone that is scared of heights? 😬
Hello! Sorry for the delayed response. If Bear Lake Parking is full, you can park in the Park & Ride lot for the Bear Lake area then take a free RMNP shuttle to Bear Lake. goo.gl/maps/VoRyEzRn3B6dT5e76
@@TravelSzN thank you for the response. I did drive thru it and although it was a bit intimidating, it was good. Amazing experience. And yes, shuttle system from Park & Ride to Bear Lake works great
Hello - it looks like you will need a park entrance pass (which would be your golden age pass), plus the timed entry reservation. So you would still need a timed entry reservation if you plan to visit May 26 - October 22, 2023. More info here: www.nps.gov/romo/planyourvisit/timed-entry-permit-system.htm I am not sure about the golden eagle passes, but I did see golden age passes and golden access passes referenced on the entrance pass website for NPS. It looks like golden age + access passes are no longer sold, but still honored if someone has one.
Hi Hana! Yep you can see some of the park in a day, but you'll miss out on a lot of amazing hiking trails! If you only have one day, I would recommend stopping in the Bear Lake area and checking out one of the lakes that would be a shorter hike, then take the scenic drive up to the Alpine area if Trail Ridge Road is still open (it should be open as long as inclement weather and snow haven't come in yet). There are a few nice viewpoints /overlooks with a pull-off along that drive. When you make your way down to the west side of the park, you can pull off and check out the beautiful meadows/look for wildlife - this is a great spot to see moose and elk. And you can head out of the park through Grand Lake CO or go back the way you came if you aren't heading that direction. Have a fun time!

wow. you share great video. I also watch videos like this on youtube. i like it very much. I hope to see more videos like this in the future. Wishing you a wonderful, happy and meaningful weekend.
Here is more info about the entrance reservation requirements: www.nps.gov/romo/planyourvisit/timed-entry-permit-system.htm Technically, you would need a timed entry reservation to do anything in RMNP after 9AM after May 25 this year. However, when we went into the town of Grand Lake and then drove over to the hike the East Inlet trail to Adams Falls, there was not a ranger there checking entry passes. Just a sign that said this is National Park land, follow NP rules, etc.
I have a question! Do you need permit to drive on the Alpine scenic driveway? I went on the website and couldn't find it. I will be in CO 1st week of October and wanted to explore a little bit of RMNP. I stay in Este Park overnight and plan to drive the Alpine drive way to get to Georgetown. Is it possible?
You will need a ticketed entry into Rocky Mountain National Park through October 10. I think you are referring to the Trail Ridge Road that takes you through the alpine section of RMNP... You will need to get the ticketed entry as you will be entering the park to take the road through it. www.nps.gov/romo/planyourvisit/timed-entry-permit-system.htm
If you plan to do lots of hiking with elevation gain, I recommend hiking boots with ankle support and good traction on the bottom. If you are just walking around in easy flat areas or paved areas, casual walking/running shoes should be fine.
first thing is to go back in time to 1960s. I lived up there then and hiked all day without seeing anyone. Also I could drive any road any time as long as weather allowed. No crowding, in fact except for mid-july through August, the park seemed empty much of the time. It was wonderful!
Have visited RMNP yearly from Nebraska since our honeymoon in 1975. You did a fabulous job of including all our favorites. Wild Basin area is really nice. If you return be sure to include it. Will be subscribing. Thanks.
We have this one! amzn.to/3Jh7byO and it works great for us! Our only trouble with that one is that stability isn't the strongest (the tripod part isn't as sturdy as it could be).

You will need a ticketed entry into Rocky Mountain National Park through October 10. I think you are referring to the Trail Ridge Road that takes you through the alpine section of RMNP... You will need to get the ticketed entry as you will be entering the park to take the road through it.

Unless you enter the park before 9AM or after 3PM! Then you can just drive through.
Thank you so much. I looked into the NPS and found it
What shoes do you recommend?
If you plan to do lots of hiking with elevation gain, I recommend hiking boots with ankle support and good traction on the bottom. If you are just walking around in easy flat areas or paved areas, casual walking/running shoes should be fine.
Thanks!
first thing is to go back in time to 1960s. I lived up there then and hiked all day without seeing anyone. Also I could drive any road any time as long as weather allowed. No crowding, in fact except for mid-july through August, the park seemed empty much of the time. It was wonderful!
wow this is a great video
thank you!
listen to some John Denver of course!

Have visited RMNP yearly from Nebraska since our honeymoon in 1975. You did a fabulous job of including all our favorites. Wild Basin area is really nice. If you return be sure to include it. Will be subscribing. Thanks.
Awesome! Thank you! That is so amazing you have an annual trip to RMNP!
What time of the year was that?
mid June 2022
What spotting scope do you recommend?
We have this one! amzn.to/3Jh7byO and it works great for us! Our only trouble with that one is that stability isn't the strongest (the tripod part isn't as sturdy as it could be).
What month did you travel there?
We visited in mid June 2022!
it's beautiful video
I love my state
Do people come across bears
There are black bear in the area so it is possible to encounter a black bear while visiting Rocky Mtn NP.
Wow...sangat indah. Apakah anda pernah ke tempatku di Indonesia? Tepatnya di pulau Alor. Salam Kasih Tuhan dariku minoritas Kristen di Indonesia. Satu support untukmu. Jbu.
