Welcome back to Its the Kellys! In this video, I will do a luggage review of some of my Beis favorites. This is my Beis Mini Convertible Weekender Review, and I am comparing it to the weekender from Beis. Both bags are amazing bags to travel with. Let's take a look and see which one is right for you. @@ItsTheKellys How is the regular size weekender with your shoes - are they able to fit sideways, or still only longways like the mini? 😊
So my weekender is the old one where the bottom is a little more flimsy, rather than hard. However, I do believe that both weekenders are the same depth, and height, but the regular size is just longer in width, so I put them in long ways.

Just so you know, Beis luggage is too big for all airlines, so just beware and don’t travel internationally with it :) it used to be my favorite until I realized that!

Just thought I would share for others who are worried/curious,
I brought my weekender as a personal item on both Ryanair and Vueling, however you have to ensure that the main compartment is only about half filled so that you can squish the top down. Lengthwise it does stick out from under the seat, but not too bad. Hide it with a blanket or something and you’re good 😂
Alternatively what I did in the beginning of my trip was to detach the bottom (for convertible) and leave that in my check in luggage. The top half of the convertible fits perfectly height wise when fully stuffed 😂
Not gonna lie I was really nervous each time I brought the weekender whether as a personal item or carry on because budget airlines can be pretty strict😂
No issues so far, just make sure to always smile, greet and be polite to the all staff so that they wouldn’t have a bone to pick with you 😂
I will have to say though, the weekender bottom as a packing cube is kind of an awkward size even in a large check-in luggage. It doesn’t fit horizontally so the only way would yo place it vertically lengthwise of the luggage. Awkward spacing left over but u can fit misc items or pouches around it, but packing cubes wouldn’t really fit around it

Love how you showed all the measurements. I found your channel when I was looking for a good carry on luggage. I had narrowed it down to Away, Monos and Beis. I just received my Beis on Sunday, I got it in gray, would have loved the cream but hubby didn't think it was practical if I had to clean it after every use. I have my eye on this bag and will probably eventually get it but not right now.

Taking my first trip out of the country to Italy next Summer! Just found your channel searching Beis reviews and all of your videos are so helpful! Going to be there for 18 days, moving every 2 days and I’m trying to finesse only bringing a carry on and personal item!

Great Review Lauren! I’m always excited when I get notified of a new video! Love Y’All! Last month I put my black Beis mini werkender in the United personal item bin at the airport. It fits fine as long as the bottom isn’t packed solid and has a little give. I pack my DSLR camera & several lenses in the bottom. The United Attendant watched me and said the bag was totally fine!🥰

Great review. I purchased the mini weekender as realistically decided for my use that I would rarely unzip the bottom. I had no problem placing it under my seat. In the bottom compartment I was able to fit a pair of trainers and flats size 8 along with a couple of pouches. No matter the length of travel, I normally travel with just a carry on and use the mini as my personal item.

I would love a video of placing the weekender bag(s) and the carry on luggage through the airport sizer. I’m a Canadian and I have been looking for videos to see if the Beis carry on would work on Air Canada vs United States airlines as the Canadian size is 21.5 x 15.5 x 9 inches. Having a video of someone placing the bag in the sizer would be a great demonstration and I think may help a lot of people make an informed purchase. Love your content :)

The carry on is standard carry on size, and I’ve brought it as a carry on on multiple airlines.
As for the weekender, it’s too big for a personal item, but the mini is perfect. 💜

@@ItsTheKellys looking at your videos on affordable alternatives - did you find any that are personal item sized with the detachable bottom? (Lots of em have separate bottoms but they don't detach). 😎
I have found a ton of beis dupes (they are in our Amazon store!) but unfortunately none that have a detachable bottom.
To be perfectly honest, as cool as the detachable bottom can be, I much prefer the one with the zippered/attached bottom. It’s easier to grab things out of during travel, and the bottom is pretty difficult to reattach.

I am loving your videos! This is so incredibly helpful....and you have a great sense of humor...giving us truly useful information. And yes...can you go to the airport and test them out! :) That would just be too fun. New follower! So I feel like this would work if I have 1 checked bag and bring this as the carry on. If I had a carry on...this might be tricky...hmmm....which one would I choose, thinking either might have to go in the overhead bin...I would probably opt for the larger one. If I knew for sure, the smaller one would be accepted underneath my seat...I would get the smaller one.

I think I'm going to take the plunge. I've seen other bags that seem better but the cost is astronomical compared to the Beis. And we are talking about an item that is going to take abuse from traveling so it makes no sense to spend more money on my bag and less than what's packed in it. I think your review and my look at the Monos duffel is what convinced me. Thank you!

Hi like always enjoy your context I am debated to buy for my trip to Aruba for week with the mini convertible weekender as personnel bag for under seat on the airplane as long as I can zip out the cube hopefully I can get coupon but either way still $108 it fisable hopefully I get it quick I am leaving end of the month not far away lol anyway loves your video it very helpful by the way I started using packing cubes I am happy using it after I saw your video you mention the first time I came across your video 🦋🛫

I literally rushed to watch it lool. you've convinced me to purchase this mini weekender and their carry on! this was so helpful. i never thought of using the bottom compartment as a packing cube - that's genius! And thanks for putting it in the carry on haha. Quick question, im wondering if the carry on is already filled with clothes, and you decided to use the 2 inch extender feature on the carry on, do you think the bottom compartment would be able to fit if it was squished in? Yes! I have all of my Beis accessories stored in my luggage and then I just expanded it and threw in our “new packing cube” and it shut!

Love your videos, they have been super helpful! I'm in need of a personal carry-on (under the seat) that has more organization then my current "tote" and am comparing the Beis mini convertible weekender to the July Everyday Tote in large. I really like the bottle holder and the structure of the July. Does the Beis weekender stand on it's own once the bottom part is removed? How is your Beis bag holding up? I've read several reviews that they don't hold up well over time. And any thoughts you can provide on the comparison would be appreciated.
I don’t ever travel with my BÉIS mini weekender as a personal item, in my opinion it’s way too large. I don’t really use the tote either, because of the lack of a zipper, and it’s big. I’m more of a backpack girl, personally, or a small duffel. If you like ultra organization, I would recommend something like the nomad lane bento bag.
just got my beis mini weekender bag and I love it! although I’m curious if yours came with a funny smell and how long it took to go away? mine has a bit of a chemically smell!
Oh no! Mine didn’t! But that has happened to me with items from overseas, and then I have just open them up and let them air out for a couple of days and it’s been fine.

I don’t use this as a personal item usually. I use it more for overnights or weekend trips in the car. I tend to use the beis backpacks with a trolley pass

Thanks Francine! We aren't too crazy about the price point for the Bento Bag. It's over $100 more than our favorite luggage, for just a personal item. But certainly looks cool, with good organization, if someone wants a luxury personal item =)

Welp in watching your videos you have me on a Beis kick! I just got the rolling carry on and I am waiting on the mini weekender to come back in stock. There are two mini weekenders-the mini convertible and a new one just the mini weekender. Can you tell me the difference in the two? I know the convertible one has the bottom unzipping all the way and the laptop case removable. But, what about just the mini weekender-does the laptop case remove? I don't always travel with my laptop so I would rather use that space for something else. By the way, I have always checked a bag and now you have me wanting to do just the carry on! Thank you for your videos and advise!!
I think the regular mini weekender just has a padded laptop sleeve, not the removable one. Personally, I would rather have this one. The convertible is cool, but the bottom is hard to get off and on, and it has to be all the way off to put something in there :) I wish I could switch mine!

@@ItsTheKellys I got the gray, simply because I purchased it from Nordstrom and that is all they had. I really wanted the navy tho. I haven't traveled with it yet, but I really like it and after your review I knew that was the brand I wanted.

Sorry, just stumbled your video when researching about beis bags. I’m new to it and still debating if I should get it price wise vs Samsonite/Ricardo/Tumi bags.
I have 3 different Beis backpacks. I’d much rather travel with the backpack than the mini because the mini won’t be accepted on every single airline, especially International. Plus, you can use backpacks during day trips :) I have about 30 Beis videos. You can look at the personal item playlist! So many videos of personal items

I keep coming back to this mini weekender for business travel as a personal item. I find that backpacks are really hard to dig through during a long flight for the items you need. I'm looking for something that can be both a great personal item for airline travel and then also be a great laptop bag for meeting with clients while traveling. I keep coming back to this because of the bottom that zips off for when you reach your destination. My other option is the Bento Bag and then purchasing a separate smaller laptop bag that I can throw in the bento bag to use when meeting clients. Do you have any other recommendations that may fit this need?
Personally the mini weekender is pretty big and obnoxious when it comes to being under a seat or as a bag for business. The nomad lane is honestly great under a seat and has a ton of strategically placed pockets specifically for grabbing things while on the plane. I have reviewed the version 3 and 4 and have packed it a few times on here, if you want to see examples.

I’m off subject, but my hairdresser gave me several individual packets of shampoo/conditioner, in the foil looking package. Do they need to go in liquids bag? They’re sealed.
They do still have to go in the liquid bag, but I LOVE those packets. I try to snag some and travel with them as often as possible because they pack so well!
I love the cream color does it get dirty and scratched up during travel?
I’ve only used it on road trips and it’s been fine so far. It’s like a canvas material so might be a little harder to clean. Fortunately I haven’t had to try yet :) all of their beige stuff is so pretty!

Is there a significant difference between the sizes? I’ve heard some people say they’ve used the large weekender up to 1-2 week trip. Others have said the mini is good for a small to long weekend trip. Would you say this is accurate?
It depends on how much of an overpacker one is. I can fit a medium packing cube in each of them, which is enough for me to technically travel with enough clothes for at least a week. The weekender will obviously fit more after that, whereas the mini may only have room for a small toiletry bag on top of that.
For non plane travel, I use my mini for an overnight, but my big size for a weekend. For plane travel, I use neither. I’m more likely to go for a supportive backpack or a carry on luggage :)

They are really two totally different bags in a sense. The mini is great for a personal item on a plane, and the weekender is more of a carry-on size. I think I would get more use out of the mini, because I use my Beis carryon luggage as a carry-on.
The weekender is great for a road trip or overnighter!
STILL CANT DECIDE WHICH ONE I WANT LOL, HAVING A PERSONAL BAG FOR TRAVEL IS A game changer but my main reason for the bag is weekend local getaways

I Will show zipping it back on when I compare it to other duffels, but I don’t own the regular mini. I would prefer it though. It’s so hard to zip back on.
Hi Lauren! Have you had any problems with your Mini Weekender bag, specifically with straps or trolly pass breaking? There are SO many reviews with that complaint. Also, I am going to Ghana soon and do not want to check bags. I plan to buy a July carryon but I am searching for a good personal item bag for international travel. Any suggestions aside from risking the mini Beis Weekender w/o the bottom attached??
To be honest I don’t fly with any of my weekenders. Those are more overnight/road trip bags to me. When I fly, my personal item is always a small backpack with my carry on luggage!
With that being said, my weekenders are in great shape Because I don’t use them often but my beis backpack zipper did break.

When I went, my own bag was a carry on/backpack combo but I had 5 checked bags of school supplies and clothes for the school I was volunteering at

It would help me make up my mind on which bag because I am totally confused we would be flying Delta or United
We just filmed it a few days ago, I just need to put it together. But the mini is much better for a personal item and the regular size is much better for a carry-on.
In my opinion, the weekender is really only good for a weekend trip or a road trip. I would much rather fly with the beis carry-on luggage and use the mini weekender as a personal item
Also delta didn’t have sizers there, presumably because they aren’t strict about carry ons. But for United it was the mini in personal item and the regular size in carry on :)

I will be using it for my personal bag. I am enjoying your videos they are so informative. Just watched the money one it was so helpful to know for when we travel abroad.
There is the mini convertible and then there is the new mini weekender. I would look into the brand new mini weekender if that one is in stock, because the only difference between those two are at the bottom does not come off, but it still zippers up!!

How does it look without the bottom? I was thinking of using this as a work bag, and keeping the bottom off but not sure if that would be messy.
For a work bag, I like the work tote instead! Depending on what you do work work, if you need typical laptop type stuff, this would be too big and awkward.
@@ItsTheKellys I am always on the go, and often running off elsewhere after work. Like my laptop might be in it but mostly I am a huge planner geek so ALL of my planner stuff. But I often do pack clothing to save me time. I was eyeing the work tote but it is out of stock :(

Could you compare this to the Monos Weekender?
I did the mini in this video compared to the monos duffel (and away and nomad lane, etc.)
As for the two full size weekenders, I don’t have the Beis one anymore (it was an old old model and irrelevant for reviews and comparisons)
Hi! Eleven months out, have you had any issues with the bottom compartment falling off the bag while you're carrying it? I've read three reviews so far of people saying that happened to them; and I'm hoping it was just a defect, because I really want to get this bag!
I have the convertible and it actually is terribly hard and annoying to unzip, so there is no way it can "come off"... just to get something out of it, I have to zip it completely off, AND unzip the netting top, too. =) In all honesty, I would get the regular mini weekender, not the convertible :)

Do they have the regular mini in Atlas? To be honest, I would 100% prefer the regular mini. The bottom is difficult to reattach!

Ok. This is perfect. But. I bought the Terry tote. I was told by a friend to get that over the mini weekender, but now I think I have regrets.
Do you have the Terry tote and what’s the difference in that and the mini?
I didn’t like anything from their Terry collection to be honest. It wasn’t my style.
The weekender or mini weekender to me is a great bag for road trips or overnights. I don’t love them as a personal item in addition to luggage.

Depends on the airline! The mini can be way too big for most strict international airlines. I did a video where I put it in all of the US domestic sizers

Depends on what you will use it for. The full size won’t be allowed on flights unless it’s your carry on.

Their measurements are 13 x 16 x 6 so it’s too big, because it’s 16 x 16 x 6.

Weirdest thing is they have the "normal" Mini weekender available and it even claims it was a new item. As if the non-convertible version was the "old" one

@@ItsTheKellys thanks for clarification. I just bought a Lo& sons, I will report back. I have the beis mini. I thought it was convertible but when it arrived I found out Nordstrom had corrected the listing. Between the mini and the mini convertible which do you prefer.
@@neshachristian-hendrickson5598 I don’t like the convertible because the bottom is hard to put back on when you zip it off, so I simply just zip it half way when I open it instead.
Would you ever check in your large weekender with other luggage instead of a carry on?
I don’t ever check bags for various reasons, but if you had to, I’d carry on the weekender and check a suitcase. I feel like the canvas material wouldn’t be good to check, Incase it gets dirty or rains.
@@ItsTheKellys Thank you! Very good point. I’m not too keen on the thought of carrying such a large bag on my shoulder, been there done that in October for Japan and it was HARD!! What I think I’ll do is check in a luggage and bring a roller carry on instead and maybe the mini weekender. Thank you :)
Both weekenders have a wonderful trolley pass through to slide on your luggage so you don’t have to carry it! It is rather heavy. I do that a lot with my bags in the airport.

The convertible mini is $108. The regular mini is $88.
Yes this video was made was before the regular mini came out, so the pricing is old in it.
