    Is there any chance you could help convert a 220v to 110v for use in NTSC regions? I know it’s possible, but don’t have a clue on what parts to swap out.

    Cool. The power supply you have is a bit different looking than the U.S. spec one, so recognizing the components between the two is a bit confusing. I know you don’t endorse just anyone tackling repairs on these power supplies, so I don’t blame you if you don’t answer my question. Looks like you have a white jumper wire going across the filter capacitor to the green fuse or resistor where mine has a grey, square resistor or capacitor that says 250vac. 310vac, .47 uf. It doesn’t look burnt on the bottom. Anyway, my question is… How does discharging the capacitor with the resistor not damage it; even though the power is disconnected? Thank you!

    Sorry to bother you about a Xbox PSU question. I've got an Xbox which stopped turning on, traced it down to the PSU and the high voltage side.
    I actually have the 3.3V standby voltage and can see the opto is triggered (PS_ON floating; HV side of the opto is 5V, PS_ON connected to the 3.3V, opto is then ~130mV) but not sure why I'm not getting any output from the low of the transformer. I strongly suspect it might have something to do with the chopper circuit but I'm not sure exactly what is wrong. There is voltage (330V) on the main chopper leg, 532mV on the leg closest to the bulk cap with the last leg showing 0V. Could it be that transistor? Since there is no external signs of a problem but there was essentially some black dust on the main leg. If so, do you know where to get one? Searching for the part number, I couldn't find anything.
    Thanks for any help.

    • @SuperDavidcass
      @SuperDavidcass  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Give me the part no on it, check for open cct feed resistors, check any diodes for shorts on secondary, 12volt rail comes up from feedback from mainboard power on

      Hiya, did you end up getting it fixed? I have a similar problem and checked what Dave told you to check, but still nothing comes on the 12v rail. I realize our two scenarios might be different, but maybe your fix might spark new ideas. Thanks!

    • @SuperDavidcass
      @SuperDavidcass  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Can just run the meter over looking for shorts, however it's not efficient method, it's ok to test bridge rectifier etc, any point after the main chopper transformer is safe as low voltages, I'd say you could tape up the primary cct so you can't access the Ac voltages
      Thks
      Dave

    • @SuperDavidcass
      @SuperDavidcass  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Also, you don't have your meter on Ohms when power is connected, it's set to read voltages, you can damage your multimeter

    Great video! I got mine booted up, but after playing for a while I noticed the PSU is starting to heat up quite a bit. It is the secondary side transformer in the middle that heats up the most. Caps after it looked fine, but will try to replace them. Maybe they are a bit dried up, so it causes excess load??

    Hello,i have simmilar model to this power supply and i have a weird problem.
    When power supply is plugged in,it makes "buzzing" sound and i cannot launch Xbox.
    But when i heat the mechanical part of the heatsink with soldering iron Xbox starts working again and it works for hours.
    But when i turn it off and wait for 5-10 minutes to cool down,it doesnt work and is buzzing again.
    Some people suggested it may be a faulty capacitor exposed to radiated heat,dry solder or cracked track(but tracks are okay)
    What do you think sir?
