Hmm wierd Race Mode tends to not turn off SC in most other brands. That is a separate setting. Also there is also race pace specific SC programming on some cars i.e. AMG GT. Soo that would make all that work pointless.
I love Jason Plato, been a fan and a follower for decades. Sadly, having driven the Stelvio on track, I can clearly say he's got an agenda here. Either he's driving it with stability control on (and complaining for his own mistake), or he's blatantly sending out false messages out there. I don't doubt the Kia is fun to drive and well sorted, but I know the stelvio will allow you to accelerate everywhere with plenty of oversteer, never cutting the throttle. Car journalism is more and more a thing of the past.

It depends on the circuit: on Virginia International Grand West end MotorTrend Figur Eight Alfa Romeo is faster; on Auto Zeitung is faster Kia. In the end, these models are comparable. In any case, thanks to the Giorgio platform, the Giulia and Stelvio are both very fun to drive!

He doesn’t know what he’s talking about as it’s possible to break the Stelvio QV loose on a slight damp road even in N (normal) mode. It at no point will ever cut power, and always tries to slam you into the seat in R (race) mode.
Glad i went for the GT, generally like alfa's, My opinion of the Alf >, headlights Nice, Front grills not great, almost as ugly as some of the BMW's and Audi's, rear end, nothing special, and a dash board from the 1980's. Italian cars are expensive to service, my GT so far, at nearly 2 years old, £100. I am surprised that the alfa was slower around the track than my GT, as for the sound of the Alfa, Silence is better, had a stage 2 tuned MGB with straight through exhaust,Great sound, but a big headache, police followed me to work one day, it sounded very fast (not). Alfa worth £30k more, I think not. Performance ICE cars tend to be poor around town, EV's with regen braking are great around town, MY GT reminds me of my old PUG GTI 1.9, but on steroids. sorry for the long comment.

New model has 15hp more than original (520 compared to 505), but it has a mechanical LSD where older one has electronically controlled LSD. Many say the new LSD is the better, more control. Plato simply failed to fully exploit the Alfa. He was in lazy auto (even in Race mode) instead of manual and using the paddles. I bet he’d be a fair bit quicker in manual!
The new model year has been improved over the past, handles better with a new mechanical LSD, and has slightly more power. This review is bullship paid EV advertising (ans badly done)

The Kia EV6 is not an SUV. Anyway... it should really be clear what modes are used and if traction control and ESP are off or not. Sometimes these head to head feel rushed and that these settings are neglected.

As someone who drives an Alfa. I don’t believe you, no car handles like an Alfa. It’s literally the only production vehicle with steering designed by an F1 team. What a bag of rubbish! Kia is a great & fast car, but there is no chance it can beat Alfa on the bendy race track. Stelvio is pretty much the fastest and most agile SUV in it's class. He complained about alfa handling and the same time complemented handling of Kia which is a heavy lump. It is pretty annoying they try to sell you stuff in every possible way, even though it is not all that great for daily commuting and you don't want it.
What is the world coming to when a petrol head thinks the Kia electric SUV is better! I really don’t think he was giving the QV the beans, if he was it certainly wasn’t showing it. My 2021 Stelvio QV never looks or feels that boring. I’d buy the Kia and use it as a coffin - not for me thanks.
Didn’t look like you were in manual! If you had used the paddles and controlled the revs and gears in and out of the curves, you’d have been quicker no doubt. The pure auto mode in the Alfa is quite lazy. If you’re track timing, then use the bloody paddles and stick her in manual. The Kia might be faster in your test and £30k cheaper but in years to come folks will still drool over the Alfa whilst the Kia is discarded like an old electric appliance.

Are you sure it was in race mode? Unless they have changed it, race mode should turn off the stability control and traction control.

Alfa Romeo is one of those brands people buy just to tell people they drive an Alfa Romeo. Same people who buy BMW's.
As someone who drives an Alfa. I don’t believe you, no car handles like an Alfa. It’s literally the only production vehicle with steering designed by an F1 team. Someone got paid for this trash review to pump up the trash Korean EV. I don’t know this program but I don’t think there is any credibility after this review.

What a bag of rubbish! Kia is a great & fast car, but there is no chance it can beat Alfa on the bendy race track. Stelvio is pretty much the fastest and most agile SUV in it's class. He complained about alfa handling and the same time complemented handling of Kia which is a heavy lump. It is pretty annoying they try to sell you stuff in every possible way, even though it is not all that great for daily commuting and you don't want it.
Switch the TC OFF!
What is the world coming to when a petrol head thinks the Kia electric SUV is better! I really don’t think he was giving the QV the beans, if he was it certainly wasn’t showing it. My 2021 Stelvio QV never looks or feels that boring. I’d buy the Kia and use it as a coffin - not for me thanks.
Touring car driver prefers 600bhp hardly any surprises. Doubt he fancies owning either.

Didn’t look like you were in manual! If you had used the paddles and controlled the revs and gears in and out of the curves, you’d have been quicker no doubt. The pure auto mode in the Alfa is quite lazy. If you’re track timing, then use the bloody paddles and stick her in manual.
The Kia might be faster in your test and £30k cheaper but in years to come folks will still drool over the Alfa whilst the Kia is discarded like an old electric appliance.
Are you sure about the last part? In this case, why are 2020 Stelivo QVs selling for less than half the price of a new one across Europe ?

A different platform raced a Ford Mustang Dark Horse against the Kia's cousin "Ioniq 5N". it was the Mustang that overheated and went into limp mode, as opposed to the Hyundai electric car...
I'd take the Kia but actually the normal AWD with 325bhp and keep another £10k
