I'm much more of a boat rider but I was at a cable down in Mexico and a local taught me a cool starting trick. I sat down and put my chin on my back shoulder (away from the cable direction), waited for the tension and let myself spin (sort of like a hs backroll). It works amazingly well. I tried first without the board on to make sure I would land with my feet in the water. Definitely worth trying if the line isn't too long! Easier than it looks and requires no timing, you just feel the tension and let yourself spin.
