    This is the video that I've needed soooooo much!!! I'm an experienced kitesurfer looking for a way to train on no wind days with travel restrictions. Not only did I get a bruising from crashing the corners, I got a bruised ego as well for thinking I could do wakeboarding because I kitesurf. Uhhh nope... clearly doesn't work like that as I massage out my neck muscles from the whiplash crashes.
    I now have a belated but profound respect for wakeboarding after my beat down. Sitting here licking my wounds, on the verge of quitting, I just couldn't let it go and my stubborn nature lead me to finding your video! This is the video that is going to keep me from giving up wakeboarding... I hope at least. Your explanation is super clear and logical and exactly the answer to the question that I was asking every rider at the cable but never got. I am an analytical type and need to understand why things work the way the do! And I totally see now that I warranted my beatings from simple lack of theory! Thank you so much for giving me hope... Headed back to the cable tomorrow.

      @Westrockwakepark  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      We are so thankful for this type of response and why we made it. SOOOO many cables allow too many on the full cable without this type of explanation and assume too much about various riding abilities, which results in riders slamming and never returning.
      Glad you’re getting after it again! Once it clicks you’ll be in love.
      Come visit some time and we’ll take care of ya!

      @@Westrockwakepark incredible!!! So today I went back to the park (5 mast cable) and gave a go... Crashed one curve on the first round because I was totally overthinking it but then after I was able to put the theory into practice, I made every curve from 40+ rounds. Each round I gained a more subconscious understanding and was able to relax and enjoy the ride and even throw in some beginner tricks. So a massive thanks to you guys for saving my wakeboarding!!! If I make it to the US, expect a visit from an overly excited German wakeboarder!

    Thank god you made this video. My first time wake park just on knee board(I can kitesurf wanted to practice toe side ).
    I was told to go wide around the buoy which worked on the first two corners, but no one told me about the third, most dangerous corner. I was only knee boarding and face planted which hurt my kneck then on next run I turned over this time and fell on my back & kneck directly. After a break and three more attempts I was over it, afraid to break something and honestly was getting anxious as i got to the corner. This video will help than you, though I found out they have a slower cable run for a few hours on weekend so will try that.
    This video should be mandatory safety video.

    Wow. I was blown away when I found out there's a cable "park" next to my city. I went there several times and thought it was awesome. Seeing this I now realise what a crappy cable park it is.... it just goes back and forth. The only "corner" is 180 degrees at the end of the cable. I can't believe how good some people have it... actual cable PARK not just 1 straight cable.

      @Westrockwakepark  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Don’t underestimate how much you can progress on a 2,0. That’s how we started back in 2014 and expanded to this. Keep supporting them and hopefully they’ll be able to add a full size cable!

    • @RoScFan
      @RoScFan 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Westrockwakepark Thanks.
      How do you take a really sharp corner? Like for my cable park how i turn efectively when the cable stops and reverses?

    • @Westrockwakepark
      @Westrockwakepark  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RoScFan we actually have a video of this in the works. :). Until then the abbreviated way we teach it is this: stay under the cable (ride perfectly straight underneath), before you get to the stop point (~100 ft?), edge out at a 45 degree angle towards the shore on your heel edge. Once the cable starts going the other way simply follow it back underneath. If you turn too soon you will sink because you initiate slack. Really focus on the 45 angle to shore and don’t overly focus on the turn. Hard to explain here but hope it helps.

    Going to a cable park on thursday. I am a kiteboarder, so i do have decent board control, but I've only been to a wakeboard park once and barely made a full lap two times, each time without even attempting a second one. I did notice some serious slack on the lines during turns and tried various things to fix it on my tries, but got worn out very quickly. Every turn would be a major test of strength/endurance (usually a very strong "jank" once the lines got back to tension, followed by a crazy speedup that I almost could not control) and in the end I could not longer make even the first turn due to fatigue and had to give up.
    Awesome video. I will try to apply that knowledge ;)

    • @daniels.jarrett516
      @daniels.jarrett516 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey thanks for watching our video! Without seeing a video of you - your description is exactly what happens when you “cut” the corner. By cutting the corner you’re essentially making yourself sink, losing all tension, then once the carrier changes directions and retightens the rope you get yanked back up to speed. The key to avoiding this is going a bit further out finding the “sweet spot” we talk about in the video, and each and every turn will be perfect.

    Thank you for making this explanation video guys! I've been trying to improve my turning at the park because I get so tired only holding on to the line only after a couple of rounds and have no clue what should be done to fix it. My friend told me to go hit the gym to improve the muscle strength s just so I could hold on for a lil bit longer and that's what I thought the problem was at first. Little did I know that I was making the turn too hard than what it supposed to be by overcountering the rope tension. Much appreciated. Keep up the good work guys! Love the graphics and editing style y'all did in the vid as well. Makes it so much easier to understand for a physics dummie like me 😂💙

Doing corners is so scary for me that it almost put me completely off. The amount of force at which you can be pulled is abyssal. But then again kids do ride it ... so there must be a proper way to do it in order to compensate right?
