In my opinion, no cage match has ever topped that ‘98 Taker v Foley bout. Any match where a guy takes a bump so hard he literally sneezes out a tooth is hard to beat.
Matrim42 taker and Vince were concerned that foley might actually die during that match, a valid concern since a fall like both of the ones that foley took could’ve killed most other people
If you're rating a wrestling match and not someone's "courageousness" then there have been much better ones before and since. The accident and a few other spots saved it from being a total stinker.
My #1 is Mankind vs The Undertaker. I watched that match live in audience when I was 12 years old. My dad was with me that night, although he was never a wrestling fan, the moment Mankind was thrown off the cell my dad’s jaw dropped. This moment made a non wrestling fan such as my dad get up off the edge of his seat. It was a thriller. That moment had my dad tuned into wrestling each day since it was our new bonding moment.
Honestly, I think it's a fun match. Fast paced spot fest with a few big moves/moments and a fun finish. I don't think the finish is bad considering it's on raw and wasn't supposed to end the feud but was still somewhat warranted. Plus the story was interesting going in, tag team champions that hate each other enough to fight in that match and the involvement of the undertaker and Stone cold, I think it was a very well done raw mainevent
in my gm mode of smackdown vs raw 2006 Scotty 2 Hotty managed to outlast The Undertaker, Randy Orton, Kurt Angle, Rey Mysterio and Muhammad Hassan. It is still the greatest spectacle i have ever seen. Undertaker was so keen on destroying the evil Randy Orton while Rey refused to tap to the ankle lock. Scotty 2 Hotty a mega heel at the time won with a low blow in front of then world champion Rey Mysterio by pinning Hassan. Scotty's popularity shot up from like 72 (that was in game months of work) to 81 as he was a duel Cruiserweight and Heavyweight Champion. It is the best cell match i've ever witnessed. Rey was then put on on a 14 week long injury and came back one week before the rumble. Naturally I booked him to win and finally get his title back from Scotty 2 Hotty at WrestleMania. Greatest win ever.
A real Barn Burner - before the games turned to shit. Like, why is it so fucking hard for the people behind the games to make a satisfying career mode? For fucks sake. My favorite is either 2008 or 2009, whichever one had the ECW stuff and the ability to choose your weapon under the ring and take a huge dive from the scaffolding.
@@sportsfaniguess154 that match isn’t even considered top 10 let alone top 3. Yup. Never forget watching HHH vs Cactus Jack in the early hours of a Sunday morning. The build up to the fight weeks before was exceptional. The match was the icing on the cake and totally delivered. Probably the greatest send off for a wrestler.
Taker vs Edge at Summerslam ‘08 is definitely my favorite Cell match of all time! Not only was it the first HIAC match I ever saw and also has two of my top 5 all time favorites in it, but it’s an absolute barn burner every time you watch it! I rewatched it for the first time in a few years the other day and it’s STILL so good!
Things I learned from this list. 1. Rusev and Roman Reigns once had a Hell in a Cell match for the US Title (Completely blanked from my memory so I can only assume it was bad) 2. The HIAC match I remember being the worst as a kid is the match at the bottom of this list. And 3. Randy Orton has been in a lot more HIAC matches then I remember he must be at the point where he's had almost as many as HHH and Undertaker by now with another one approaching against Jeff Hardy.
The Rusev one actually wasnt bad... until you know, Roman powered out of the coolest visual we've seen in years like it was a headlock and put rusev away pretty much straight after lol
I was there for Cactus Jack vs Triple H at No Way Out in 2000. Being only seven at the time and a huge fan of Mick Foley, I remember screaming and crying during this match when Mick was being brutalized by Triple H. So if you watch this match and hear a child screaming, it's probably me.
I think the two participants would beg to differ with you but to each their own. Foley even said on multiple occasions that it was a smoke show to make you think you’d seen a good match even though you hadn’t.
I remember when a Hell in a Cell match was the biggest deal ever, and you could count on one hand how many there had been, same with TLC. They both had such a mystique around them, they were only saved for the most intense feuds or the biggest stage. I think turning them into a yearly PPV has completely sucked the mystique out of them both and now they don't feel special anymore at all, You know one will happen each year at the same time, and the feuds never match the stipulation. Easily one of the biggest mistakes the company ever made.

@John Lorton So? I watched that match multiples times. But he asked why people remember this match. People remember it because of Mankind going through a table. More people have just seen the toss through the table than have sat through the entire match.
@@lucaslonchampt613 No. One crazy bump plus Mankind rushed onto top of cell with real damage and then gets second bump continuing with at least several slams, thumbtack and absolute struggle.

Batista and Taker went full out, Edge being a cameraman in the match was also a nice surprise considering he was injured and this was his return, which sparked one of the best 3 man rivalries in wwe.
HBK VS UNDERTAKER is number in my book. While I'm disappointed you didn't have it as number one I was impressed and pleased you had Lesnar vs Taker from 2002 in your top five because I remember watching it live and it was brutal!
Taker/Mankind was the best on. yeah it may have lost in some of technical aspects to others, but it was such a memorable spectacle that its simply impossible to forget.

It was after the match was over that the news came out about Bob's HepC and Taker was witnessed being absolutely livid about the situation.
Great list. IMHO Bad Blood 2004 should be waaaaay higher on the list. It was even my favorite match for a short period of time. The match was brutal, intense, emotional. It had huuuge storytelling background - two year rivalry between two former best friends. And OH MY GOD, that camera shot, where HBK has ladder on his shoulder and he smiles maniacally, while his whole face is covered in blood. Time is the only minus of that encounter.
ADbarnyard90 Taker vs Mankind from KOTR 98 (#1) and HBK vs Taker from Bad Blood 97 (#2) are my top 2. I also don’t think the HIAC matches from the 1998 Raws should be in the bottom 2 as well. They were great TV moments to further angles!!!
Tbf, Taker v Mankind wasn't the greatest technical classic. Agree it had some of the most iconic moments in WWE history, but ring-work must factor in somewhere too right?
@@Shark_rooster Taker v Michaels is actually on the top of many (including mine) lists. It ranks much above End of an Era imo, but yes that was a great match too.
@Pepe Sylvia your are taking your subjective opinion and imposing it as fact. Technical sound in ring work "went out of the window" for YOU personally, and honestly, that's fine. But it still matters to a lot of people even inside HIAC. Also, matches can always be brutal and ugly AND be pure wrestling artworks. Look at Triple H v Cactus Jack HIAC. Bad Blood 1997 had it's fair share of brutality too.
Me and my friend were playing a 6 man hell in a cell match in smackdown vs raw and all 6 of us were on top of the cell in the center and when my friend rock bottomed me we all fell through the cell and were knocked out 😂 It's to this day the greatest cell spot I've ever seen
HHH Vs HBK Should Definitely Be Top 10 Its The Longest Cell Match. It Acutally Represents The Concept Of The Match. Both Wrestlers Were Battered And Bruised. And Both Wrestlers Performed Great Spots
13:10 ah remember that? Ambrose beat Cena to get Rollins at HIAC, and somehow that justified doing Cena vs Orton with the winner going on to face Lesnar for the WWE title 😂 Also, Charlotte/Banks over Ambrose/Rollins?? Go home Pacitti, you're pissed
I mostly agree with the top 3. I only disagree on the arrangement so here is my top 3 of this list of the best matches: 1.Undertaker Vs Mankind 2.HHH Vs Mick Foley 3.Undertaker Vs HHH
So the theme is if Undertaker is in the cell there's like an 87.62% chance it's gonna be great. Personally I'd put Taker vs Mankind 1998 at number 2 and End of an Era at number one. Taker takes 20 chair shots to the back and HHH gets slammed onto the steel steps.
That Wrestlemania 28 cell match was the first I had ever watched and the first Undertaker match I had ever watched. It was an amazing match and I loved it.
Undertaker hhh should be way more down the list they barely used the hell in a cell it was just there for spectacle reasons and cause they wanted to sell more tickets for that event certainly shouldn’t be number 2
In my opinion, no cage match has ever topped that ‘98 Taker v Foley bout. Any match where a guy takes a bump so hard he literally sneezes out a tooth is hard to beat.
That wasn't a sneeze, it went through his fucking lip.

@@sebastianraphaelbiggs127 It's almost a fact here
Amazing that the UK got that rumble match for free on terrestrial tv
I've been waiting for this with more envy than Jack loves taking the bus
Takers vs Mankind #3?!? the first one #7? I used to respect your opinions on things.....
@@tapan97 so in that case shouldn't taker vs michaels or the end of an era be on the top of the list? But still I respect their opinion though
I'm rather surprised that the match between The Big Boss Man & The Undertaker from 'WWF WrestleMania 15' wasn't ranked at either #38, or, #37...
Me and my friend were playing a 6 man hell in a cell match in smackdown vs raw and all 6 of us were on top of the cell in the center and when my friend rock bottomed me we all fell through the cell and were knocked out 😂 It's to this day the greatest cell spot I've ever seen
My two favourites hell in a cell matches is the first one shawn Michaels vs undertaker and my second favourite is undertaker vs mankind
HHH Vs HBK Should Definitely Be Top 10 Its The Longest Cell Match. It Acutally Represents The Concept Of The Match. Both Wrestlers Were Battered And Bruised. And Both Wrestlers Performed Great Spots
It's a boring fucking match after the first half hour. Nothing but move-----rest------move, where laying on the mat is supposed to represent drama.
As someone who actually was at that match, I was bored as hell for most of it
@@Fixxer315 they did some insane bumps don’t think it was boring but yeah it did lack something
I'm so fucking ready for Punk vs McIntyre in Hell In A Cell at Bad Blood
13:10 ah remember that? Ambrose beat Cena to get Rollins at HIAC, and somehow that justified doing Cena vs Orton with the winner going on to face Lesnar for the WWE title 😂
Also, Charlotte/Banks over Ambrose/Rollins?? Go home Pacitti, you're pissed
I was waiting for this list for 3 days now. The next worst to best should be all the Survivor Series matches and then after that all the TLC matches
Youve gotta have foley vs taker at number 1
Thats law
I would of like to see the usos vs the new day hell in a cell match again
imo
Good vid.
Btw: hell is worse than a bad place and the only available music is "The Best of Cher".
imo
by all means, do then...but hell won't have any for you
I mostly agree with the top 3. I only disagree on the arrangement so here is my top 3 of this list of the best matches:
1.Undertaker Vs Mankind
2.HHH Vs Mick Foley
3.Undertaker Vs HHH
You put the best match in wwf history 8th. Wow
Ranking HBK vs Taker at 7 as a damn travesty. Atrocious.
Late to the party here but I really enjoyed the bad blood match between HHH and HBK, its in my top 5 for sure
16:39 didn't you guys rate this as one of the worst PPV matches of 2016?
That Wrestlemania 28 cell match was the first I had ever watched and the first Undertaker match I had ever watched. It was an amazing match and I loved it.
Jeff’s gonna swaton off the cell and miss the table and end up dying watch
It's so scary and eerie cause I don't want to think that but I see it every dam time I think of the match!
HBK in the first one was the best one. HE made that match have EVERYTHING
Undertaker hhh should be way more down the list they barely used the hell in a cell it was just there for spectacle reasons and cause they wanted to sell more tickets for that event certainly shouldn’t be number 2
Monster of a video you have here. Great work! Also, I just realized, why the fuck isn't Styles v. Joe taking place in a Hell in a Cell match ?!
