The Portal games are more dynamic in some aspects, where you need to perform some actions in a timely manner or you need to use a lot of agility, whereas The Talos Principle is more static, but with far more complex puzzles.

I started playing this game and the expansion right around the time I found out a family member's cancer was not going to get better. I dove into it, I absorbed myself in it, it was all I thought about. I didn't want to think about losing them, so I thought a puzzle game would somehow make it all better. Turns out it really made me think about a lot of difficult, but important things. It made me think about losing them, and accept what was going to happen. As much as it hurt to think about, I'm glad I stopped running. I suppose to many it's just music, something that simply fills the silence... but this music will always remind me of them, and the painful but somehow beautiful reality that nothing lasts forever, no matter how dear you hold it to your heart.

I started playing the Talos Principle shortly after my mother died, and I had a remarkably similar experience to yours. It was supposed to be an absorbing distraction from the pain of loss but instead it gave me space to think about what it means to lose someone, and what it means that they existed at all. I'm glad the game could help someone else that way, too.

I share with you an inspiring story that I experienced playing this game. I was struggling solving a riddle in C5 level for a looong time. Then I read following QR code on the wall: "I solved it! I thought it was impossible, so I went away, did other things, and then all of a sudden the solution just came to me. I must have been thinking about it without knowing it." So I listen to that advice and minimalized the game and did some other work for a while. After some time I opened the game again and what the hell, I dont know what happed but I suddenly knew how to solve that damn riddle. I was so shocked that I almost lost my breath :) since that I think this game left some piece of itself inside me. Piece of wisdom, inspiration and knowledge all together :) Love this game!

59:13 I remember being 13 years old playing this game, getting to the part where this plays - I believe on one of the ‘messenger islands’, and taking my hands off the mouse & keyboard to simply listen. I didn’t, and still don’t, have the words to properly describe the feelings this song evoked in me, but I recall it being the first time I was truly touched & rendered speechless by art in any form. A pivotal moment. It was a tough, confusing, and often lonely time in my life, but for whatever reason this game - and song in particular - helped give me a sense that perhaps things weren’t so bad after all; I remember a feeling of hope come flooding over me and (oddly enough given the game’s content) felt a bit less alone. Everything was going to be alright.
Thank you Damjan for this beautiful, evergreen masterpiece. I cannot fully express what it means to me, but you have massively changed my (and I’m sure others’) life for the better with it :)

I have this game to thank for my future, I believe. I struggled with the worst breakup/betrayal I had ever experienced when I began to play this game. It made me think critically about what I am and who we are, as a species. After about a year, I realized that mutability of thought structures and compartmentalization of emotion and logical thought really helps me focus on what I truly want, not what I feel. This caused me to declare as a philosophy major in my second year in undergrad. Now, in the coming semester, I plan to get my masters degree in philosophy. What grandeur overtakes me when I hear this soundtrack again! It feels almost like my theme songs at this point lmao

I played this game at a difficult time in my life, and it left a powerful impression on me that I can't put into words. But it was something I really needed at the time. I just come back to this great OST from time to time. Not only the game was just phenomenal and I'll always have the underlying themes and concepts in mind, but the music is what gets me going. This OST is an inspiration for me sir, and a musical way to remember the moments of awe and exploration in life, just like a "child", learning, growing and going forward.
I'm mostly a guitarist and drummer, but when I get the chance to sit at a piano, I'd love to play "When In Rome". Once I was working behind the scenes on some short film and there was this giant acoustic piano in one scene and nobody there was a musician. So, when everyone was taking a break, they asked me to play something, I just sat behind the piano and played "When In Rome" casually and everyone went completely silent and just listened and enjoyed. Wish you all the best Mr Mravunac.

When I started playing this game nothing was really going on in my life but as I progressed, immersed myself in it and found written notes and audiologs, I thought of some things. I started thinking about my cat (of which is in my profile picture) and of course all pets, family members and friends that I have in my life. The difference is the cat in my profile picture is the one I owned. This game at first when delving into the depressing and unavoidable parts of life made me think of how much I love my cat specifically as he was the first in mind and how I didn't want to lose him. Not too long after I lost my cat to a hit and run, he was 4 years old, not an uncommon thing to happen but it was impactful and made this game something else. The fact this came from the makers of Serious Sam, which I found out after playing it, blew me away. One of the best games I've played period and the music for this game is to me now, more of a deep-seated, emotional and atmospheric one than anything else.

This game is a life changing experience. When I started playing it, I just felt transfixed on the sounds (those artificial beeps). Each puzzle giving me a sense of accomplishment. As the game continued to branch out, my world expanded as well. Philosophical questions about the meaning of life and our place in this reality. There is something serene about this game, as if playing it reformats your brain and gives you a sense of calm. I listen to this soundtrack now, just enjoying the sounds and the simplicity/complexity of their compositions. Everything that went into this game bore out to become one of the greatest statements. Throughout the simulation, one thing becomes abundantly clear... even in our loneliest moments, there are others out there that have walked these lonely alcoves, these desolate dunes, and in our mutual solitude, we are not truly alone.

This soundtrack is amazing and it goes so well with the game. I personally enjoy the struggle around puzzles and this OST really invites you to meditate about what are you doing and helps you feeling like lost in some kind of atemporal limbos. I use it now for programming and I use to listen to it when taking flights (I get nervous in planes!) , it helps me to relax and meditate around some ideas (you can make the guess) I like to think when I struggle with anxiety in these kind of moments. Thank you for composing this amazing OST

Easily my favorite puzzle game, and perhaps my favorite game of all time. I grew up playing all the Myst games while sitting on my dad's lap. He'd help me when I got stumped.
So when i discovered this game a few months after it released to seemingly no fan fare, i told him to give it a go.
We spent months going back and forth sharing our favorite puzzles, locations of secret stars, theories, everything.
We weren't always the closest, but games like this helped bridge the gap.
He died about a year ago today and while I'm so so excited to play Talos Principle 2, i just wish he was here to share the experience with me.

This is one of my favorite game soundtracks. It's beautifully ethereal and catches your ear but never wears on you after hours of trying to solve these puzzles. I've actually got this going in the background while playing Satisfactory now because, as nice as Satisfactory's soundtrack is, after 300+ hours it does start to wear out and it's nice to have a change.
Also, that last one - The Fall of Gehenna - still gives me chills when I hear it because I remember the end of The Road to Gehenna.

When in Rome and Heavenly Clouds for me, but they are all so good it almost seems unfair to select favourites. Not only some of the best music in a game but the most comprehensive and well thought out set. It's not just about how good the individual pieces are but just how well they all work together. Great work from Damjan.

After hearing game soundtracks, I just want to play it again badly.
Luckily, after this long time, I must have forgotten the puzzles.
Another amazing way of playing this game is playing it with someone you love (family/friends/wife) and thinking through puzzles together.
This is just so lovely, you gotta try it,
thinking out loud your thought process together,
    being stuck together,
    sharing success together,
and laughing together how simple the solution was!
IMHO Maybe it's the best way to play puzzle games, You won't for sure regret it!

When I was playing through the game, many times I would start to solve a puzzle and the music would change with perfect timing. This led me to believe the game had a dynamic score and would change as the player got closer to the solutions of puzzles. Now I can see that was all a clever illusion.

I have to admit I wasn't expecting the Egyptian part of the game. At all. I was vaguely informed about significant religious events but I never knew it had a connection to Egypt. I'd always seen Egypt as this mystical, independent bastion for their unique culture.
