I've learned by myself. Here isn't gadulka teacher in Hungary. Once a real Bulgarian gadulka player showed me some technics ( holding the bow correctly, touching strings by nails ) but that was all.
You are a role model to me! What you do and your collection of instruments is something I want to achieve in my life time.

@OmegaGuitarFreak Thank you! :) Yes, fidula is the medieval ancestor of violin Mine has five gut strings, there are several tunings, usually for quarts. I use DADGC tuning.
Arany, lots of love and respect from Romania! I hope i'll ger to hear you play/sing live some day.I myself plan to study close to Hungary (in the wester side of Romania) so maybe I'll get the chance!
5:06 A Medieval 5 String Violin, you can use D'addario Helicore Medium Tension 5 String Violin Strings (Geared Tuners might be a good update) instead of Gut Strings cause tuning it will be easier.
Arany Zoltán You could've played Telephone by Lady Gaga arranged by Mac Huff (SSA Voicing, of course that Fiddle needs Helicore Strings & Geared Tuners) on all of the instruments you have because it would sound epic. 4:53 That Little Turkish Fiddle does need some new Tuning Keys, geared tuners might help. (The Accordion part of this new cover would great w/ the Master Switches all the Reed sets & some of them have a Mic so they can be plugged in to an amp, some have a Free Bass mode).
gwidao123 there are websites dedicated to hurdy gurdies. Just google "hurdy gurdy for sale" and you'll find a few. They're generally priced in US dollars or euro, and usually around 2-3000$ so anywhere from 6,300 to 9,500 Real.

@SKARAVEOSable As I said on the video "the Greek called pontic lyra" Just listen! ;)
Your bow is too tightly wound, which will cause too much "bow bounce" and remove the natural curve of the bow, but otherwise a very interesting display of instruments.
minute 3.00 : that instrument is very similar to a calabrian lyre. are you sure is it a bulgarian instrument? if yes, it could not be certainly impossible, because geographicly it could be it. great stuff btw.

Yes. Check it on Wiki. Calabrian lyra has three stings, gadulka thirteen. But you're right they are very similar. All of eastern mediterranean lyras ( Dalmatian, Calabrian, Cretan, Bulgarian gadulka, and Turkish kemenche ) descends of the ancient Byzanthian lyra.
yes I know how a Calabrian lyre is made, I'm Calabrian ahahah and I knew the descensors of the Byzantine lyre, but this bulgarian bowed instrument missed in my culturale bagage. thank you for answering me, you are such a splendid musician. greetings, all the best for you

Nocturnal Podcasts for that style of playing, bow bounce is actually helpful.
Bulgaria baby

Az mitől függ hogy a hegedű "magyarosan" vagy "íresen" szólal meg?:)
(mert nem cserélsz közben se hegedűt se vonót stb, és mégis:)
