    This song was composed about 800 years ago and blows about 99% of contemporary Folk songs completely out of the water. It's absolutely brilliant, I listened to it since more than 10 years now and still can't believe how good this song is.

    This song makes me feel a genuine sense of appreciation for the little things in life. Medieval music is so authentic, and shows the ways in which people found joy in life despite the challenges they faced.

    If you speak Portuguese especially the one spoken in Brazil it becames even easier for you to understand Galician than someone who speaks the Portuguese spoken in Lisbon. The accent is much closer to Brazilian Portuguese. If you have to pay a lot of attention in order to understand the lyrics in this "medieval cantiga" it is because is sung in an archaic Galician which makes a little difficult even for someone who speaks Galician.

    The Galician is close to Portuguese because the Portuguese comes from Lusitanian, Ancient Portuguese which is just from the Galician! Take a look on History and Geography and the truth will be present in front of all. Circa 1149 AD Portugal was founded as independent nation, split of Galicia, southern region.

      But it's not spanish. Due to the simple fact that Spain did not exist when this song was written. Furthermore, Spain is a country with several nations. And they have different cultures. This particular culture is from the Atlantic fringe nation or Western Iberia: Portugal and Galicia. The language spoken is called Galaico-Português and it's the root of modern portuguese and modern galician.
      this is portuguese traditional music for example: th-cam.com/video/PIxoQoC8a84/w-d-xo.html

      Holy Mary made a beautiful miracle of this,
      great and pious in his church in lugo,
      by a woman who had most of
      his body crippled and shrunken by illness.
      From which God sucked the milk from her breast,
      no wonder it sane the wrongdoer.
      For his hands had shrunk in such a way that they had entered
      next to the shoulders, and the heels,
      for their part, they all got into the battered body.
      From which God sucked the milk from her breast,
      no wonder it sane the wrongdoer.
      When he saw that no medicine was effective,
      turned to Holy Mary, the noble Queen,
      begging him not to look at the troubles she
      could have caused him, but that he should think of his benefit
      in such a way as to cure her and, if not, to make her die soon;
      and then had himself brought before his church in a
      small and narrow bed.
      From which God sucked the milk from her breast,
      no wonder it sane the wrongdoer.
      And lying there she made a very good life until
      that the dutiful lady did him mercy in
      the month of August, the chosen day, in its main festival,
      as I will now refer to you.
      Well, that day a subway was built in the church of Santa María;
      but the Holy Virgin did not prolong the matter,
      but returned the body all straightened up.
      From which God sucked the milk from her breast,
      no wonder it sane the wrongdoer.
      But it happened in such a way that, where he healed,
      each of the members,
      when stretched the shrunken nerve,
      it exploded very loudly, just like the dry wood of the ceiling.
      From which God sucked the milk from her breast,
      no wonder it sane the wrongdoer.
      The bishop and all the people who were before,
      contemplating and hearing this and crying hard,
      he saw that it had been a miracle and not a deception;
      that's why they praised the virgin without stopping.

    for a woman whose body was almost entirely
    paralyzed and shriveled with a disease.

    Más potente y rápida que otras versiones que conocía; pero es bonita y está versionada con gusto. Me agrada.

    Bem interessante. Achei que lembra muito a base de um heavy metal - sem as distorções nas guitarras. Como tanto a música medieval medieval quanto os riffs de guitarras distorcidas costumam se basear em intervalos de quinta para formar a harmonia, pode ser daí que noto a semelhança. Fica a diga para alguma bando rearranjar isso para um metal lusitano.

      +Carlos Prado Heavy metal usa muita inspiração de musicas e temas antigos (eis Iron Maiden, Saxon e outros), talvez daí a semelhança.

    Arany Zoltan - you do an extraordinary, great and beautiful works, reproducing these beautiful, old songs from the south of Europe and trying to make them sound like in the twelfth and thirteenth century, when they were created.
    And to think that this is a descendant of the Magyars, of whom I also come from my mother. A mother with still present, delicate, Asian qualities, which makes her only more beautiful.
    The same savages who, a thousand years ago, were a threat to all of Western Europe and who stood later, as a result of a wise choice, the beautiful sons of our continent and its culture.
    Éljen Magyarország!

    Letra en castellano:
    De esto hizo Santa María un milagro hermoso,
    grande y piadoso en su iglesia de Lugo,
    por una mujer que tenía la mayor parte de
    su cuerpo tullido y encogido por una enfermedad.
    De la que Dios mamó la leche de su pecho,
    no es maravilla que sane al contrahecho.
    Pues sus manos se habían encogido de tal modo que se habían metido
    por junto a los hombros, y los talones,
    por su parte, se metieron todos en el cuerpo maltrecho.
    De la que Dios mamó la leche de su pecho,
    no es maravilla que sane al contrahecho.
    Cuando vio que no era efectiva ninguna medicina,
    recurrió a Santa María, la noble Reina,
    rogándole que no mirase los disgustos que ella
    le había podido causar, sino que pensase en su provecho
    de tal modo que la curase y, si no, que la hiciese morir pronto;
    y después se hizo llevar ante su iglesia en un
    lecho pequeño y estrecho.
    De la que Dios mamó la leche de su pecho,
    no es maravilla que sane al contrahecho.
    Y yaciendo allí ella hizo muy buena vida hasta
    que la Señora cumplidora le hizo merced en
    el mes de agosto, el día escogido, en su fiesta mayor,
    como ahora os referiré.
    Pues aquel día se hizo meter en la iglesia de Santa María;
    pero la Santa Virgen no prolongó el asunto,
    sino que le devolvió el cuerpo todo enderezado.
    De la que Dios mamó la leche de su pecho,
    no es maravilla que sane al contrahecho.
    Pero aconteció de tal modo que, allí donde sanaba,
    cada uno de los miembros,
    cuando se extendía el nervio encogido,
    estallaba muy fuerte, igual que la madera seca del techo.
    De la que Dios mamó la leche de su pecho,
    no es maravilla que sane al contrahecho.
    El obispo y toda la gente que estaba delante,
    contemplando y oyendo esto y fuertemente llorando,
    vieron que había sido milagro y no engaño;
    por eso loaron a la Virgen sin parar.
