This video explains all the popular and most effective ways to rig a blue crab. Blue crab is one of the best baits for sheepshead, redfish, black drum, and almost all inshore game fish. In this video I explain how to do it correctly based on the species you are targeting. I also explain what are the most popular rigs for Blue Crab fishing.
The rigs explained in this video:
(Big) Fish Finder Rig - snap swivel, 2 way barrel swivel, 40=50lb test line and a 7-8/o hook. This rig is most effective for big drum. Big bull reds, big slab black drum, maybe tarpon, cobia, and other large game fish.
Bottom Sweeper Jig - if you haven't heard of these and you fish with blue crab you are missing out. Here is the link:
    bit.ly/3fMm3G6
The Bottom Sweeper is most popular for fishing in and around structure whether that's from a pier, land based on a jetty, or from a boat or kayak
(Small) Fish finder rig variation with an egg weight sinker. This rig is the most popular and widely used by charter guides and there's a reason why. It catches fish anywhere.

Using a 24-36in Leader(#1-3/0 Circle Hook) underneath a Popping Cork does really good on Red Drum,Rockfish, and Good size Speckled Trout in the Chesapeake Bay Shallows!

Really appreciate your willingness to share info fishing the Chesapeake waters! For someone who grew up next to the ocean but somehow ended up now living in the mountains it sure helps to increase our chances of catching more fish when I get the chance to get back down to the ocean. Regardless, being on the Chesapeake is awesome even if the fish aren't biting. How bout tarpon do you fish for them? Been after them for last several years but still haven't hooked up on one mostly due to not knowing the best places and time to fish for them been relying on my Florida tarpon knowledge but Virginia tarpon anglers don't share much information about this incredible fish and it remains on my bucket list. Also enjoy your cooking part of the vids definitely will give them a taste.

Caught a 8lb Drum with Hard Crab last week using the fish finder rig.
DON'T PAY for crabs if you can help it! My son was using chicken legs on a string and catching them with a dip net off the bow while we we're fishing off the stern. They're plentiful and simple to catch. Bringing bait from the bow and turning it into Fish off the stern. Great day fishing and didn't spend a dime on bait.

Learn to have moocho rubber bands in your tackle box Jeff .. Take 2/3 bands and wrap them around the half 🐚 shell/innards. This will help to maintain your meat and help to create your chumslip

Never seen a video done on when it’s time to switch to a fresh piece of crab bait. A lot of the time I’ll reel in my crab bait and notice that meat is missing, should I switch to a new piece then or will a red fish still hit the crab shell?

Why don't you just catch your own crabs? Some of my best childhood memories are of catching crabs off of small docks. All you need is some string, a chicken neck, and a spark plugs for weight. Pull them up to the surface and scoop them up with a dip net.

Appendage? OK, Mr Biologist, I bet you got straight A's. I just call them legs and you put the hook through its last knuckle. You will have to tell us about the regs in Virginia, but here in NC the crab has to be of legal size to use it for bait. It is one thing to buy them in the store, but if you are harvesting them - make sure you know the regulations for that area, as they can differ up and down the coast.
