    Very helpful! It might have solved a memory issue (only half RAM usable, 8Gb hardware reserved) with my B450M PRO4 and R5 2600. Downgraded from 3.90 to 2.00 flawlessly. I hope it will never come back but for now I'm glad I've watched your video!

      Did this solve your problem because i have the same problem with the same motherboard but my motherboard came with 4.20 out of the box so that is not fair because i have a ryzen 5 2600x which they said not to update so it might have been that

    Thanks so, so much for this solution! I had a massive performance drop after reckless 3.5 BIOS update (I read about issues with 3.x versions and Pinnacle Ridge CPUs too late). With this guide I downgraded BIOS to 2.0, 0 problems, everything works as intended. Specs: Ryzen 7 2700, Asrock B450M Pro4.

    Thanks for this, it worked a treat with my 2700X and X470 Taichi (which is essentially the same board as yours without 10Gb LAN). I was running BIOS v3.50 and it was of no benefit to the 2700X, boost clocks were lower for gaming workloads and they removed the Hyper BCLK Engine II settings after BIOS v2.00 so BCLK overclocking became pointless since I couldn't lock the PCIe bus speed at 100 MHz and turn up the core bus clock to 102 MHz anymore. I flashed back to BIOS v2.00 just like you did in this video and I'll leave it there unless I upgrade to a Zen2 CPU in the future.

    Thank you so much for the fantastic overview. Only odd thing I encountered was another early numbered fsx: partition with EFI only in the root. I thought the drive was not formatted correctly since only one and only one file from the copied files in BOOT. This was just another partition/drive. I eventually found the correct one; though after I Rufus'd the flash drive again :) All well and BIOS downgraded.
    Your directions were excellent and much appreciated! Oh, and this was done since the latest X370 ASRock BIOS prevented 4 sticks of RAM from booting, boot loop, regardless of speed (i.e. 2133).

      This happens when you use "fs0:" or "fs1:" only since just like in the video, your drive isn't always on fs0. Try using each "fs#" from 1 to 10 or beyond if necessary, making sure to look at the directory each time with "ls" For example on mine, my flash drive was on "fs5:" since it is where the other files showed up (AMI files and your bios files) plus the size of the directory isn't just 1024MB but something like 8192MB since my USB drive is indeed an 8GB one.

    I didn't care, and I ran your /P /B /N /K /X flags, and it successfully flashed. Thank you so much for the files and instructions.
    Also, I had a tough time finding my flash drive in the EFI terminal. A helpful way to possibly detect it is to type "map" as the first command. So I just bricked my ASrock B450M Pro4.
    I bought it 2nd hand and the previous owner has upgraded it to latest BIOS version 5.30. On ASrock website they say they don't recommend the versions 3.60 and above for Pinnacle Ridge processors (I have Ryzen 5 2600X), so I thought I'd downgrade to version 2.00. Mainly because I was facing issues with RAM when setting up XMP (RAM is 3200mhz but no setting past 2400mhz would work).
    I followed your guide, step by step and everything went well. The dry-runs of the current BIOS and the to-be-downgraded-to BIOS were OK, exactly the same as in your video. Even the last step, the actual flash of the version 2.00 BIOS was OK - it erased, flashed and verified all the partitions - but it threw an error during the "Erasing NCB Block". Something along the lines of:
    43 - Error - cannot erase block
    And at this point, I couldn't do anything. I knew rebooting would be death, so I tried at least flashing the current version (5.30) but that ended up in error as well. Tried reflashing the 2.00, same error as before. It's weird cause I see several people have downgeraded the same mobo without issues.
    Just so you know it's not a big deal as I got this mobo for very, very cheap.

      It's basically it for me. I have come across good deal on asus prime b450 plus which works flawlessly, i am not having any memory issues with this ASUS board. I think while the ASrock boards look good, their BIOSes kinda suck, and I have seen/heard that from multiple sources.

  • @BIOSHOCKFOXX
    @BIOSHOCKFOXX 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    @3:40 - So basically that's the only reason that can cause issue, just the fact that if you got the CPU difference. I am having X570 from Gigabyte, and I would like to roll back the BIOS by one version. I am having Ryzen 3700X and there have been quite a lot of BIOS versions since I bought. So realistically I should be able without issues to downgrade if that's the only reason why some manufacturers restrict downgrading?

    Thanks for the video. I updated to the latest bios(November)on my ASUS x570.. Turns out it slowed cpu boost clocks down.. This was after we got a performance boost from the September update. I tried your clearly stated procedure several times. I made absolutely sure I had the same downloaded bios of both versions, I made sure each version was named the same as you had suggested. I double checked, triple checked... But it still said the size was off. I remade flash drive several times, after downloading the proper versions of bios. I did a dry run of both and they both failed. I have an Asus x570 Gamer (plus) Wifi. The good news is I didnt brick my MB... But im stuck with this latest dog bios.. Now I guess I can just wait and hope they give the performance back. I have a 2700x.. But once again THANK YOU for your time and effort making this video. After this latest shit bios, I lost 100pts on cinebench15

To downgrade I just need to put the bios I want to downgrade to on a usb stcick... but I also need to have every bios in between the current one and the one I'm intending to use.
