I just bought an F700 airline catering truck with the box that goes 18' in the air. I bought it to place a 40' boom on it because it already has hydraulic outriggers on it. I was going to just remove the box off with a cutting torch but once I saw your video I decided to do the same to store my 1956 Chevy in it(if it fits, I have to measure first). If it does not fit, I have plenty of other toys to store in it. Thanks so much for a great instructional video!
I found this video trying to understand if you could take a box off of a "totaled truck" and put on a new one. Was thinking about buying a box truck and converting it into an RV/tiny home. My though process was that if you bought an old box truck vs an old van, built it out, and then the truck just turned out to be a lemon, you could take box off & put on a better truck & save your "tiny home." Where as on a van, your build is pretty much totaled with a totaled van, if that makes sense. Thoughts?
It's not a terrible idea. And yes the box truck box would give you a bit more room. But honestly it's probably cheaper to have a tow behind or the truck bed topper type. The one that fits into the bed and usually over the cab of a full sized pickup.
Im actually still using it. So not for sale unfortunately. We did have to seal up a few things after taking it off because it twisted a little but it has been dry for a while now.
I see the Ford E-Series and I click & watch. Then see the E-Series with all its good parts get towed away heading off to the salvage yard. Sad now... LOL
I love watching you two wrench! It's fun seeing how guys without fancy tools and stuff do these big jobs
lol... I can't believe I came here looking for advice :) This is some shenanigans I would come up with... Great video my friend!

No problem. And nice car. Whats the length of the box? Arent those 56s like 17 or 18 feet long
Yikes, I think its only 16', so other toys it is.
I just looked it up. The 56 should be 16.5ft long.....toys it is!
Good to see you guys back in Action again, it's been a quiet couple of weeks without you guys.
Hopefully a lot more episodes coming out soon! Thanks for watching.
Brilliant idea!!
Nice, good going.
Is a 57 Chevy for sale??
I was thinking of buying a small U-Haul box truck and removing the box and installing a custom bed
Hey yo, so next time just use the wheel lift on the tow truck before they go lol
"well plasma it is" = "cant be tight if its a liquid" lmao

Great video Sir. May i very respectfully ask about how heavy you think this box is???
Probably 3k lbs
My anxiety level triggered when the Box looks like it was going to tip over while being pulled
He is a best of all dumbs mechanics. OMG.
I want to make a sleeper for a 150 or 250 pickup truck in the future. Do you need a torch to remove cab wall? Or is it bolt on?
It was bolt in. As well as siliconed
Has the bottom rusted out now just sitting half a foot off the wet ground?
Actually we just loaded it up on a flat bed and it was fine. The wood floor will rot out faster than the thick steel will.
I know this is a little to late but do you still have that cargo box that you took out for sale ??? 👍😁

Would it be the same type of process if the box is on a dodge ram?
It should be very similar.
This is some hillbilly ass shit! Love it!
Fun!
Hey man!!
Easy does it now. You guyzz be careful!!
where do u live
Florida usa
Some people just peel it under a low bridge
Ha. Ive seen that. Also good for content.
Ah the Cutaway Boxtruck you wonder they called “Cube Vans”
Why are you guys removing the box?
Cheapest garage we could think of. We moved shop, and needed dry storage.
That truck looked like it had some life left in it.😐
If I remember correct we towed it there just for the box. The motor was already junk
