If you could be one age for the rest of your life, what age would it be?
31. Seems like that is the age women like the most.
97
Early thirties.
Dirty thirties...I mean early thirties😅

The Japanese scene is pure fire. There are SO many great rock/metal bands. Enjoy the journey!
1:43 - 2:11 _"And in those moments she realized how beautiful this song is."_
There is absolutely an effect on mayu's voice in this video, HOWEVER her natural screams and cleans are top notch. The effect itself was purely a stylistic choice.
actually I think her natural screams sound much better than what was done in this recording
In 2022, lead singer Mayu was about 7(?) months pregnant when they performed at Aftershock festival, but she didn’t let that slow her down. Her vocals were just as much on point as always.
Last I knew that is a two mommy three kid band! I love working rock moms. Sarah Blackwood, Kelly Ogden, Floor Jansen to name a few. Cherie Currie took a mommy time out
@@MrDportjoe Amy Lee, too!
IT WAS BRUTALLY HOT THAT DAY. IT WAS SO HOT THAT IT WAS ACTUALLY DANGEROUS FOR HERSELF AND HER BABY.
@MrDportjoe And the drummer, Tamu, is married to music composer, Akira Yamaoka. He did a large portion of the Silent Hill video game franchise's music.
@@byerenny I have spotted her oldest wandering through a couple of the lock down vids and then in making of video for another song. On another thread I posted 'If you do not pick up the toys I will have Auntie Mayu come over and sing clean your room in her special voice!"
Nemophila absolutely crushes live. Loudest concert I've ever been to, bar none! Tamu's kick drum sound could have driven nails into the back wall of the venue.
From a BAND-MAID fan: Thank you for visiting Nemophila, too! If you are interested in... well, you are maybe ready for Hanabie., soon. Try their "Otaku Lovely Densetsu", "Be the GAL", or "We Love Sweets".
For Hanabie (Ha-Na-Bee-Aye), "Be the Gal" is the end of a trilogy of videos, the songs aren't connected but the videos are. The trilogy starts with "Pardon Me, I Have To Go Now"
Nice suggestion. They'll definitely blow her mind once again.
Don't be afraid to say pop with these bands, they incorporate tons of pop influences into their music. The best thing about Japanese bands, that I find, is that they don't care a lick about genre. They make good music and whatever elements they have to use they use them . Also yeah it'll take your brain a little to adjust but a lot of their songs are mostly in English. They do blend Japanese in with it but after a while of listening to a bunch of Japanese bands you start to naturally hear the switch between Japanese and english.
Yurufuwa rock!
@@JuanSan66 "jigoku" is missing
@@tttrip yep
It's so funny to me that people get upset about that, if these bands didn't implement what was popular, they wouldn't become popular.
A female voice singing a song in the proper standard fashion is just called SINGING, not Pop style. In the music industry, the word POP stands for BUBBLEGUM POP music, not POPULAR music. Unfortunately, the internet has blurred all of that. Pop music is light and poofy, aimed at a younger mostly female audience. Heavy music has nothing to do with vocal style. It is all about the style of music played. Unfortunately, they DO have some bubblegum music in their catalog, though. They've even made a semi-country song that sounds like Taylor Swift wrote it.
The "fluffy band from hell." I've seen them twice in L.A. and once in Kawasaki where Mayu came out, stood on the merch table, and thanked everyone after the show.
😳 What a gesture of passion and decency. 👏
Now you know two Japanese female bands. 50 more are to come. By the way, great interview with MNN! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
They’re multifaceted in their vast repertoire. Their latest song, Odyssey is one of the most amazing power ballads ever performed 😊
Yes! The ending of that song really grabs the heart strings🎶🎶🎶
Not a power ballad. Think Taylor Swift.
@@POWER-LINKSAre you equating Mayu with Taylor Swift?
@@4thArmoredVet Oh HELL no. The style of that song could have been a T.S. song. It could even be played on a Country Music radio station with no complaints.
Both guitarists play 7-strings. The extra string is low, so the tuning from bass to treble (in standard tuning) is BEADGBE. And, yes, the bass is a 5-string.
Mayu has one of the most unique voices in music at the moment. There's a grit to it that doesn't feel abrasive when she wants to soften the tone, but when she lets loose you can't help but take notice. You know who it is the minute the words come out. Thanks NittPicc for another great reaction.
Nemophila, Hanabie and Lovebites. Probably the 3 newer killer Japanese all lady "metal" bands. Nemophila are known for their variety. Hanabie have their own style called harajukucore and Lovebites are maybe power metal. There are many other bands though and Japanese music is a whole new world of enjoyment. The older bands that set the scene like Show Ya and Maximum the Hormone and Loudness and X-Japan are amazing as well. Nemophila are also famous with their fans for their covers which will lead you into checking out other Japanese bands. Their Rottengraffty cover is cool to check out.
That was so much fun! "DIssension" is one of Nemophila's simpler and earlier songs but still a great introduction to Mayu's voice I think. The gang vocals are in English and there are subtitles to help if you want to go back and understand the lyrics. I think the music translates pretty well though. Thanks for being you and sharing the experience as you rabbit, pigeon, and other small animal hole with us.
So happy you got to check out Nemophila and that you like them. I think you now won't be surprised that fans travel across continenents and oceans to see them. I'm with you on vocalist MAYU - she is a powerhouse with a unique and versatile voice.
Nemophila are a fragile flower that can suddenly grab you in the vice like grip of a venus flytrap. Help them "Change the World" by reacting to it live :)

Attending a live show is even better lol. Loudest live show I've attended thus far. My ears were ringing for a full week after that concert 😁
You were very careful in your wording today so nothing could be replaced by "docus" :p .
@NittPicc, It's been so much fun to watch you getting your mind blown in real time by these great Japanese bands! You quickly picked up that Nemophila is both heavy and "soft and fluffy" (yurufuwa or ゆるふわ) at the same time. Over the past year, Band-Maid has become my favorite rock band and Nemophila my favorite metal band. Don't be afraid to use the "p" word, either, as these Japanese bands frequently incorporate "poppy" melodies and hooks in their rock and metal.
Welcome to your second home, Princess NittPicc! I'm glad you liked Nemophila, they are definitely in my top 3 for favorite bands. Nemophila is more or less a supergroup, and every member is a master of their instruments, including the vocalist Mayu. This video does have closed captions, and you would be surprised by how much English were used in the lyrics. They are similar to Band Maid in that they refuse to be locked down to any specific genre or sub-genre and often switch genres in the middle of a song. You will probably love "Adabana" which is one of my favorites from them. Their drummer, Tamu is largely considered to be one of the best drummers in Japan, right along with Akane, Nao from Maximum the Hormone, and Senri Kawaguchi from The Jazz Avengers. Please take care and have an awesome day!
Senri Kawaguchi is my second favorite Japanese drummer. Yoyoka Soma sits atop the drum throne in heart. Senri is so incredibly talented and cheerful! An international treasure!
Excellent reaction and analysis! Nemophila (name of a flower) is a true supergroup. All its members had an important role in previous rock bands (Lipstick, Mary´s Blood, Soramimi, Disqualia...). The journey through the vast Japanese rock music scene has only just begun!. My favourite Nemo song is Raitei.
They have 2 lead guitarists (Hazuki-san (Ibanez), Saki-san (Killer[KG]) that also play Rhythm vs the traditional combo of 1 lead, 1 Rhythm. I think most metal bands have this setup nowadays. Also, I think this song and this MV was the first time Mayu-san colored her hair orange red. (She's done it a few other times since then.) Haraguchi-san plays the 5 string Sadowsky. The drummer is Murata Tamu-san. Similar to Akane-san of Band-Maid, she is inspired by Maximum the Hormone's female drummer Kumamoto Nao.
Yes, Saki commented that Mayu went orange for the first time for this MV.
Please keep going with Nemophila, they're such an aweseome band! Also a great live band, so in future please also consider videos of their concerts.
Absolutely. (Nothing to add, actually.)
The members of nemophila are musicians from different bands. They are all excellent musicians. And nemophila is a very unique and diverse band, with various genres of music appearing in their catalog. I recommend《oiran》live(recent one) or《rise》live as the next!🤘🏻🌸🤘🏻
Since you have Band-Maid Sundays, I propose that you implement Nemophila Wednesdays. I sincerely doubt that anyone would object. Lol. I recommend the official video to "Rise" next. It''s amazing. I actually saw them in Dallas last year. Great show, and I look forward to them returning soon!
They are " genre bending" so many awesome songs. Can't go wrong with any.
Nemophila never disappoint. Metal without regrets. Masterpiece after masterpiece. Unreal. I bought their current album "Evolve" almost in blind trust. (I already new 2 songs, but Nemophila only produce masterpieces anyway, so no need to worry about "fillers" or so.)
I seen you about to cry....I love pure reactions of people that love music 😊

@@thinj8257 Agreed!
Zen!!!!! Live official live YES!11❤
yeah these ladies are just pure talent. and their style of metal and sound is constantly evolving and changing. OH FYI, most of their songs, not all but most, are ruffly 50-75% english. but because of her vocal fry screams and accent, its hard to tell on first listen. turn on CC and you will get the subtitled lyrics and then listen again, you will suddenly start hearing the english, even during the vocal fry's. Hazuki(guitarist on the first solo) uses a 7-string Ibanez, SAKI (guitarist on 2nd solo) uses her 7-string Killer signature model, though all of her KILLER branded guitars are 7-string, and Haraguchisan (the bassist) uses a Sadowsky 5-string.
Yes ! Another favorite of mine . Band-Maid led me to Nemophila! Another group of wonderful ladies! #nemophila #bandmaid
I found Nemophila via a band called Mary's Blood. Before Mary's Blood went on hiatus, Saki (guitar screen right) was in both bands. She has been the woman to know in the Japanese metal scene when it comes to guitarists for a very long time.
Nemophila are freaking amazing! Please do more of their songs. 😊
Glad you enjoyed Nemophila and I hope you check out some of their live stuff next!
Great reaction and welcome to the kick ass world of Nemophila! One of the best bands out of Japan. Like some have said yes there is a effect which is making Mayu's voice more high and shrieky on this studio version. But she can growl and scream very good live. This just adds a bit more to it. But live she is amazing. The whole band are amazing and some of the best musicians out of Japan. I got to see them live in Dallas last year. loud as hell and great show. They are metal but can play anything and any style. Metal, hard rock, rock pop , even bluesy rock they ever do a few ballads here and there too. they can do it all. Mayu in many songs mixes the growls and clean vocals a lot but there are also quite a few songs she does not growl and scream. Her cleans are awesome with that slight rasp. If you dig this song you are going to enjoy this band a lot. I recommend all their songs but just to name a few. Adabana,Raitei,Oiran Live, Revive,Hypnosis,Monsters. Zen live one of their heaviest where she growls through whole song. Also Ama-Te-Ras their newest release which is a very cool song which is like rock groove with metal sandwich in between. That is off their new and 3rd album that just came out last month. hope to see more your reactions to this great band.
You are going to love their songs "AMA-TE-RAS" and "Odessy."
Masterpieces. Simply masterpieces. Give Nemophila _anything_ , and they turn it into gold.
"Odyssey," that Taylor Swift style song that could be played on Country Radio?
The new album may top Revive for me, it's so damn good.
I was fortunate to see Nemophila back in 2022. I believe it was their 1st concert in the US at the iconic Whiskey a Go Go in Hollywood for the expensive price of $15. Many Band-Maid fans were there too. It was an amazing experience watching them Live. 🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤙🏽
After already seeing B-M & RQ i've got Lovebites soon then i'm waiting for Nemophila to fly over & say "Hello".😁🤞
First show outside Japan.

"That cute" especially the wink after the words say "did you enjoy it? did you count it?" This is definitely an "I hate you song." Try Raitei LIVE that was just released for a different experience. Yes I saw Them ( and also Band Maid) when they came to the states. BEST time at both shows.
Tamu Murata, Nemophila’s drummer is what directly led me to this group. I just love her skill and personality. However, the longer path is Babymetal to Band-Maid to Lovebites and Nemophila. I wouldn’t have found any of the 30+ Japanese groups and session musicians I listen to without Babymetal’s introduction. All four of these groups are fabulous.
Someone recently described them as heavy metal punk. I really like that.
I was really surprised by this Nemophila MV that YT's algorithm recommended. And I was even more stunned and smiled by Hanabie "We Love Sweets" they recommended next.
By the way, I saw your interview on MNN, and you were great! I'm looking forward to Sunday again, thanks to you.
Nemophila and Band Maid are my 2 favs from Japan for sure.
Adabana and Amateras are songs you must listen to.
Dissension is a nice intro to the band, but those songs are absolute bangers.
Nerdfact. Nemofila is a flower known in English, Baby Blue Eyes. I live in the land of Carl von Linné ( check that guy up on Wikipedia if you don't know him ) and our name for the flower translated is: Prince Gustav's Eyes. I now plant this flower in my garden so I have some metalflower near by!. ;-)
AMA-TE-RAS next?
Groovy song and nice mix of cleans and screams :)
Thank you for the awesome reaction to my favorite band. More please.
Hello, I am an old Japanese guy & BM-CD member.
As someone may have already informed you, Nemophila is the name of a plant with a small flower with five modest pale blue petals (It's the logomark of this band). The phonetic symbols is "nimɑ'fələ | -mɔ'f-."
However, in Japan, this plant is pronounced "nemofìlə," and this band is usually called by that pronunciation in Japan. Therefore, the fans all tend to pronounce it the Japanese way.
Thanks for explaining the pronunciation, @pohojisan1287. I'd been wondering about that.
Saiki's voice grabs me by the soul, Miku's voice grabs me by the heart....Mayu's voice grabs me by the throat.

I hate to be that guy, but we have to stop trying with these weird nicknames. There isn't one person who likes Nemophila that calls themself a "petalhead". It's just cringe lol.
Maybe keep that for the bands that dress up like maids and and costumes and all that. But not just a regular metal band like this.
@@Codester1222 party pooper. 😜
@@Codester1222 Don't kid yourself, Nemophila dresses up in costumes along with most metal bands. Their costumes are just more in line with the standard costumed attire of the genre and so they don't stand out like say a maid outfit.
First😂. Great reaction. I'll leave all the particulars to others. Zen live next by them if you really want hard
Nemophila are pure fire. Love Mayu's voice, both clean and harsh.
Such a wonderful reaction! 😊 More Nemophila reactions please.. they have many types of genre blending songs.
Hahahahah - your face at the start. Priceless.
Discovered Nemophila with this song as well. And got to see them at Aftershock in 2022, along with Band Maid, The Warning, Apocalyptica, Spiritbox. So many bands I had just started listening too during the covid years were playing there that year.
Nemophila is another one of those groups that refuses to be pigeonholed. Their stuff is pretty diverse. Lots of full on in your face metal like this track, but also a lot of stuff that either mixes in other influences or steps completely sideways into other genres. They have a lot of covers up on youtube as well, which are also quite diverse.
Highly recommend listening to other tracks like , Hypnosis, Adabana, Rise, & two of their latest songs Ama-te-ras, & Odyssey. Enjoy.
Great reaction! New sub.
Nemophila is such a great band who loves to have fun while performing. They gained more international attention during the pandemic lockdown by uploading covers of other bands like Iron Maiden, KISS, Babymetal and more, usually wearing those bands merch (or in the case of KISS, the face-paint) to TH-cam.
In fact, they just released an album of covers earlier this year.
I saw your interview 😊 on MNN.
Nemophila is my number 2 to Band-Maid. Japanese girls really know how to play a break up song lol! Band-Maid's HATE is a prime example. Hate live Lollapalooza is ferocious the camera work could be a lot better, but the sound is what matters!
Nemophila Adabana Music Video is so good, NOT QUITE AS SHOUTY😅
Your reactions are awesome, please don’t ever change.
Mayu ❤ is one of my favorite vocalist!! I saw Nemophila three times and they rock!!! This band is really special and they will continue to get even better!! Have fun listening to them
Director: The theme of the video is dark and metally so dress appropriately.
Tamu: I have a new flower print blouse!
Band: Perfect!
Thanks for the reaction!
Curious as to your response to the Waggaki Band. They mix traditional Japanese instruments and vocals, including the shakohachi style bamboo flute, with rock.
Im sure with all these comments youve got a pretty good idea on bio on these ladies. They were all accomplished musicians before Mayu (singer) got them together for what was supposed to be a one off project for a metal show, however they had such a great time together they decided make it permanent. They are each worth a detailed bio but briefly on the drimmer Tamu Murata. She was already one of the most sought after seasoon drummers on Tokyo before joining Nemophila, working on projects that ranged fom jazz, pop, prog, fusion and punk. Mayu also taught drums at a musical Institute, toured Asia performing drum clinics for Tama drums and hosted a drum based program. Tamu also can play classical piano, guitar, bass and sax. Her personal channel shows her versatility, backing girl group Watusa in Nekonote band, playing Jazz covers, prog covers, metal etc. The woman is a beast on the kit.
Nemophila never miss
And this band is even better live
Check their live performances like "Zen" or Amateras heck even instant classic metal ballad "oddyssey".Pure talent from Japan🤟
If you wanna see more of how cute they are you should check out some of their live stuff and some of their covers that. They done dozens of classic metal and rock covers on their youtube channel and for the most part they just can't stop smiling throughout their performances. It's adorable, especially when the music is hard as fuck^^
The J-Rock and J-Metal scene is amazing. So many great bands, and it really seems like the Japanese have decided that genres are a silly thing to worry about. Nemophila has had a lot of variation in the songs on their albums, which is really cool. You need to get to Hanabie. and LOVEBITES, plus one of my favourite underrecognized bands, SAISEIGA (their singer, Reagan, has an incredible voice). Then you could get really crazy and check out sokoninaru, Ningen Isu, Kroi (MISA and Saiki from BAND-MAID are really into them), D-Drive, Asterism...I could go on. I fell into this rabbit hole head first myself between Christmas and New Years 2019 when I finally caved on clicked on the BAND-MAID video TH-cam had been recommending to me for weeks, and I have yet to find the bottom. I'm not sure there is one and I couldn't be happier for it.
Now J-Pop is already wonderful, you can dive further into the rabbit hole of Ado
Pick who you want: Hagane, The Warning, Band-Maid, Lovebites, VOB, Hannabie or Nemophila, but all these Ladies put such an extra texture to my life, a complete throwback to my chilhood days. I started to learn Japanese, got my guitar out of the wardrobe, began to sing again and start to dig into music theory. I am 46 years old but I feel like a little schoolboy, when I listen to all these bands. And, last but not least: I love your reactions, dear NittPIcc. Great work.🥰😍😘😁🤣A real inspiration.
Welcome to the rabbithole Nemophila.
There are so many good songs: Adabana, Rise on the heavier side, Ballads like Life and Now I here and songs like Monsters and Nightflight more poppy.
Nemophila are also called "Masterpieces, Inc.", 'cause that 's what they do.
Repetir es volver a gozar! Oiga dama que fantástica, fenomenal reacción, de las mejores que he visto, y he visto mucho! Me gustó mucho, mucho! Es mí banda y cantante favorita! Muchas gracias por ese fantástico análisis reacción ❤
Great reaction! Thank you. NEMOPHILA is my all time favorite band. I traveled from the east coast to see 5 of their shows in California and Texas. You might like AMA-TE-RAS, RISE, or ADABANA.
that was a great reaction to one of these phenomenal japanese all female bands. thank you. nemophila are so good. you know already band maid. and then there´s all female band lovebites, they play heavy metal on a level, that will blow you away. their main composer miyako is classical trained since the age of three. and that band has no peer. I would recommend their "we the united" live 2023 from their official channel for first contact. after watching your reaction to the nemos, it´s safe to say: you will love lovebites too.
You should check out their recent live video from a month ago for their song Revive at the House of Blues. Awesome song and performance, they’re crazy live
Well, that's what I call a proper "Welcome, that's us", isn't it? 😂🤘🏻
Yes, Mayu's voice has been put through quite a few filters here, even too many for my taste, but believe me, that doesn't take anything away from the fact that she really has such an extreme range. You will rarely hear her so extremely 'filtered' after this, but rather with that natural edge that I think suits her much better. And even if it might sound a little unbelievable right now, her voice can even bring tears to your eyes. So when it comes to versatility, you better buckle up, because this is going to be a rollercoaster ride. I promise!!!

As for her voice there are live videos and I saw them live in New York City last March and she does the growl perfectly
Great band and as an aside … best manicures in metal lol ❤❤❤❤
She’s gotten so much better at it.
Like all the best female Japanese Metal and Rock bands, they have great MV's but shine brightest live. Maya's vocal range is outstanding. PS 2:35 "I can't understand what they're saying because of the style she's singing in" and 6:55 - "I don't know what they're saying. I can't decipher it". I can help solve that - there are English subtitles on the MV, on the CC button at the bottom of the video.
Incredible band plain and Simple ❤❤❤❤❤
I came across Nemophila by searching for Babymetal covers. They have an excellent cover of "Megitsune". Two actually, a video with the view of the whole band and one focused on the drummer. I immediately fell in love with Tamu Murata! I think you'd like "Rise" and "Adabana". Thanks for the reaction!
Mayu’s voice and the band in general have improved since this video. Make sure to check on the newer videos, especially the live ones.
You are one of the few intelligent and knowledgeable reactors I've seen . Subscribing. As for Japanese metal, there are hundreds of female-led or all-female rock/metal/punk bands out there (not counting what most people call "pop"). Keep on going!
The best way I've heard it described is New, but Familiar. You can feel the familiarity of what you love about the music you grew up with... but at the same time easily recognize that it's distinctly different and fresh.
Gran reacción, Nemophila siempre causa esos efectos de ánimo ,fantástica canción y cantante Mayu! Puede cantar de todo, no tiene límites! También es la reina de los covers alucinantes! Prueba el de Journey, impresionante! Saludos 👍
Welcome to Nemophila, what an incredible band¡ Nemophila are:
Mayu: vocals (also dancer and mom of one year old boy)
Murata Tamu: Drums (Tamu plays also Bass and guitar and saxophone, not for the band, and also mom of 2 kids)
Hazuki: Lead guitar Ibanez (7 strings, she have another groups Koiai and Li-sa-X Band and do guitar clinics)
Saki: Lead guitar Killer (7 strings, she have another group too, Mary's Blood and she have a solo career too)
Haraguchisan: Bass Sadowsky (5 strings she have another group too Tanigawa POP Gorilla and she is an entrepeneuer as cloth designer under the brand CHANQOO)
Recommendations: Zen Live, Revive, Ama-te-ras, Oiran, Alive, Change the World Seize the faith, Now i here.
Great reaction. Nemophila is easily my favorite j-metal band and easily in my top 3 overall. They're all insanely talented and just a plain joy to watch. Check out Zen, or their new Ama-Te-Ras
Nemophila and Band Maid are my two favorite bands. And like Band Maid.....Nemophila will cover several different genres in their catalog.
These girls are made up from an Allstar cast of the best female musicians in Japan. The two guitarist are considered prodigy's and the drummer is one of the best female drummers in the world. The vocalist is off the chart !!!!! Wait till you here her sing a ballad (Odyssey)
The musicianship in both of these bands is absolutely unmatched !!!!!!! I was so hoping you were going to review Nemophila.
BTW. it's pronounced Neemo Fila
I'm curious about the pronunciation. Most fans seem to pronounce it the way you have it or "Nemo fila," and I've started using "Nemo-fila" myself, but the actual flower that they take their name from is pronounced differently: Nim-ah-fuh-luh (ni-ˈmä-fə-lə).
You know...I think your right....@@rosssnel3117
Welcome to the garden of delights that is Nemophila. My faves are Rise, Adabana and Odyssey.
This song is actually mostly in English, except for a couple lines during the choruses. However, Mayu barely speaks any English, so between her accent and the harsh vocals, she can be very hard to understand. As for the pronunciation, both are correct, depending on whether you're saying the band's name, or the flower they are named after. The flower is pronounced "neh-MOFF-il-la" (yeah, I know it is counterintuitive, but that is the pronunciation that the horticultrist who came up with the word chose), and the band's name is pronounced "neh-mo-fee-la." This is due in part to the fact that it is rare and awkward in Japanese for syllables to end in a consonant sound, so they phrased it in a way that each syllable ends in a vowel sound (also, the way they pronounce it is more intuitive, since the roots of the word are "nemo" ("woodlands") and "phila" ("love").
I laughed because you squeak when you’re happy!🤣 Nemophila will keep you in a state of squeaky bliss EVERY track. For a gorgeous live heart tugger, check out their live video of Now I Here (yes that’s what it’s called). Mayu’s voice is so beautiful and the twin guitar work is cerebrally stunning. Very emotional throughout.

Hello Nittpicc, Mayu is indeed a great singer, and the same goes for the rest om the band members as well. A great song from them are Ama-Ter-Ras, highly recommended =)
Excellent! ❤️ NEMOPHILA, one of my favorite bands! Mayu, lead vocalist, is a recent mom and drummer Tamu is also a mom. Suggest "AMA-TE-RAS" or "LIFE" next. Other groups to consider: BABYMETAL, GACHARIC SPIN, and MAXIMUM THE HORMONE.
Good intervew on MNN!
Arigatou! 🤘🤘
An unbelievable "explosion" of amazing Metal bands in Japan, worth giving a closer look.

well now. There is a yearly concert in Tokyo. "naon no yaon" (naon=woman. yaon =outdoor band stand). The show feature female musicians from Japan. One set had 5 guitars. bass. drums. keyboard. Most of them i knew from the groups they were in. The drummer (tamu murata) was a mystery. I finally found her in this band "nemophila". As i was watching the song a !!! WTF !!! moment. I knew the two guitarists. (hazuki - was in "disqualia" and also does work with another guitarist "Li-sa-X") and (saki - was in "mary's blood" and also has a solo album out now)
Not only are they one of the best bands in Japan, but, if you noticed, they have one of the best drummers. Everybody uses her in the studio.
She is growling in English.... click cc for Eng. sub
Watch them play live songs ZEN(high vocal growling start till end), Seize The Fate, Change The World, Rise, Revive, Dissension, Raiter....(high vocal growling)
Check also...
HANABIE songs We Love Sweets, Be The GAL, Pardon Me, OTAKU, NEET GAME....(low vocal growling)
LOVEBITES live songs Judgement Day, Stand And Deliver, The Hammer Of Wrath, LIAR, Break The Wall, Set The World On Fire, Glory To The World....all songs is in English..
"I LOVE THE HAIR TINSEL!"
Made me grin. 😁
"Neh-moe-fill-uh" with all syllables more or less equally stressed. Not "NeMOFFila", no matter what David Heretic says. 😆
Welcome to my favourite band. You can't possibly imagine what you're letting yourself in for if you stick with them. They do heavier than this, but they also do songs that are *vastly* different to this.
Oh, and don't worry about the "pop" word. They can do that too.
They are fire, have seen them live twice in Southern Cal. Check out a live video. They are charismatic and engaging and their 2 guitatists (Saki & Hazuki) are top tier. Excellent musicianship from everyone & Mayu's vocals are incredible. Very versatile band, thrashy at times, a little punk, some prog rock, etc. The overall Japanese metal/rock scene is outstanding with the all female groups leading the way. Saw your Band-Maid interview and you gained a fan in general of your channel. Next up shpuld be Lovebites & Hanabie.. Enjoy the incredible ride, you're just getting started. Rock/metal may have originated from The U.S. & The English, but the Japanese are perfecting it.
Curious about their live sound. Do they mix the vocals loud enough to cut over the roar of the instruments, and how loud are they? I kick myself because I got into them one month after they played NYC last year, and I could have gone to that show if only I'd known...
@el3117 Mayu's harsh vocals (as well as clean) are really good live. Dissension MV has alot of distortion, but she projects her harsh & clean vocals very well in the mix live, it's very well blended. Whiskey a Go Go concert could had had better sound quality, but the concert at House of Blues was awesome. Check out Zen live (Very thrashy) or Seize the Fate live (More hard rock)).
@@kevinbowland4686 Good to know, thanks!
You got there. Yay! Nemophila are rather good, I liked them so much I started a Facebook fans group for them back in 2020. I heard about them from their first cover of Iron Maiden’s Trooper as soon as they released it as I was already following Mary’s Blood (Saki Gt) and Disqualia, (Hazuki Gt), and I knew of Tamu (Dr) from many things she had done. I wasn’t massively impressed until a few weeks later they put their first single, Oiran, up on TH-cam and I was 100% sold. This was now early COVID days and they decided to do a streaming concert that got maybe 1000 views tops - it was awesome. I nearly missed it which is why I made the fan group, so I wouldn’t miss another one. I think it has 5.6 K members now, which isn’t bad in this genre.
Dissension is an anti-establishment song with references to politicians and media people trying to appear far more than they actually are, spouting lies and bullshit - it’s rebellion, it’s Rock’n’Roll and the lyrics are credited to “She Knows”. I’m not sure who that is but she has my respect.
Nemophila are pretty diverse. Mayu put in the work to be able to banshee as well as sing with that awesome rock grit. To begin with she couldn’t make a whole hour but today she looks like a natural up there and finishes as strong as she starts. All by hard work and a passion to make this band as good as it can possibly be.
I’ve seen them live twice and have watched all the streams, was not disappoint.
Perhaps you can start Nemophila Fridays? 😜
Have you found Hanabie yet? It’s time…
7 string guitars usually have one string turned lower than usual. It gives a heavier sound so many metal guitarists like them.
The seven string is usually on the lower octave notes. Using it to get higher pitch would require an thinner diameter string which would be more prone to breakage when played hard, like this type of music. Not saying it can't be done, but it would require a lighter plucking or strumming as more aggressive would break the string. And with many trem (tremolo) systems breaking one string can pull the rest out of tune.
"The soft and fluffy band from hell" 😊
Ah I see ya found ( ne-mo-phila ) pronounced as ya see it, there really are awesome, great songs , and that is her voice naturally, on a side note they also do some cover songs from the 80's like Iron maiden, Helloween ,loudness, and some more modern songs also. 🫶 Love your reactions. so genuine. 🥰 enjoy your journey ✌️
Yay! I've been looking forward to this! More comment after watching!
